Mongari wins Unilever Golf

Accra, June 11, GNA-Anthony Mongari scored 41 points, to win the 42nd Annual Unilever Ghana Limited Open Golf Championship played at the Achmota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday.

Mongari, who played 22 Back and 19 Front with a handicap of 18, would be playing to a new handicap of 16.

S.K. Akakpo came second with 39 points, beating Kofi Amoafo-Yeboah on count-back, K. Tettedzie placed fourth with 37 points, while John Francois took the fifth position with 36 points, beating Paul Nukunu on count-back.

Mona Captan won the Ladies event with 37 points, Mary Morgan came second with 32 points, beating Maria Ben-George and Esther Amedzro on count-back, while Suzie Abaloo Kumassah placed fifth with 31 points. Stephen Klah won the Professionals category with 142 gross, Vincent Torgah placed second with 144 gross, Emmanuel Osei was third with 146 gross while Solomon Harvey took the fourth position with 147 gross.

Capt. K.A. Butah, Vice President of the Achimota Golf Club, praised Unilever Ghana Limited for their sponsorship and asked other corporate bodies and institutions to help develop the sport Mr Charles Cofie, Chief Executive Officer of the company pledged Unilever's continued sponsorship of the competition. 11 June 06
