Golfers prepare for Western Regional Open

Accra, May 14, GNA - All is set for the First Western Regional Open Golf Championship scheduled for the Tafo Golf Course at Tafo in the Western Region on Saturday, May 17. About 120 golfers are expected to participate in the competition which is open to all Golf Clubs in the country. Mr George Lee Mensah, Captain of the Tafo Golf Club told GNA Sports in Accra on Wednesday that the one-day 18-Hole Handicap competition is being sponsored by Diab and Sons Limited.

He said the event which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Club has Handicap 18 and 24 as the entry requirements. The Captain said management of the Club has put in place adequate preparations to ensure a keen and fair competition. Veteran golfers including Sarpong Peprah, Augustine Amoakohene, Alfred Baku, Kofi and Kanigan are expected to grace the occassion. The Ladies section would also be dominated by crack golfers including Sheila Upton, Mary Kanigan and Georgina Lupiac. Five prizes would be presented in the Men's event while three would be awarded in the Ladies category.
