Ecobank Seniors Golf scheduled for June 6

Accra, May 26, GNA - This year's Ecobank Chairmen's Seniors Open Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, June 6. Mr Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, General Manager of the Achimota Golf Club told GNA Sports in Accra on Tuesday that about 120 golfers throughout the country are expected to participate in the competition, which was formerly called J.S. Addo Seniors.

He said the competition, which is open to senior golfers aged from 55 years and above, will be played in accordance with the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club.

Mr Oteng-Aboagye said the event is to be organized to honour past Board Chairmen of the Bank for their immense contribution towards the development, growth and progress of the banking institution in the country.

Mr J. S. Addo, former Governor of the Bank of Ghana who is also the first Board Chairman of Ecobank and Mr E. P. L. Gyampoh who succeeded Mr Addo as Board Chairman are expected to take part in the competition.

Other golfers expected to be seen in action would include Mike Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club, Mike Aggrey, Albert Brock, Michael Ben-George, Yaw Assah-Sam and Felix Frempong, newly-elected President of the Ghana Golf Association. The Ladies section would also feature crack golfers including Mona Myles-Lamptey, Clara Price, Mary Asafo-Adjaye, Florence Etwi-Barimah, Esther Antwi and Margaret Owusu-Baah. Officials of the Bank are expected to grace the occasion. 26 May 09
