DSTV Golf Championship tees off at Achimota

Accra, Sept. 27, GNA - The Digital Satellite Television (DSTV) Open Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra from Saturday, October 2 and ends on Sunday, October 3.

Mr Samuel Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Monday, said the two-day 36-Hole Scratch competition is open to amateur and professional golfers and is being sponsored by Multi-Choice Ghana Limited.

He said more than 150 golfers are expected to participate in the competition which shall be played under the rules of the Royal Golf Club of St. Andrews of Scotland and the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club.

Among an array of golfers who are expected in action include Mike Maguire, Michael Aggrey, Yaw Assah-Sam and Francis Asorgba, holder of the Standard Chartered Bank trophy.

The Ladies Section would also witness crack golfer like Mona Captan, Lady Scientific, Florence Etwi-Barimah and Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong.

The Professionals would battle in a hectic three-day 54-Hole event starting from Friday, October 1.
