Arkutu wins Asante Birthday Golf

Akim Tafo, (E/R) Aug. 17, GNA - David Arkutu returned a net score of 69 to win the Kofi Asante 60th Birthday Open Golf Championship played at the Cocoa Research Institute's Golf Course at Akim Tafo in the Eastern Region on Saturday.

Arkutu was followed by Oswald Amuzu with 69 net after he lost on count-back to Arkutu with Sean Ephraim taking the third position with 70 net, while Sam Bannerman-Wood placed fourth with 71 net.

In the Ladies encounter, Charity Agyeiwaah came first with 65 net, Mary Oduro placed second with 77 net while Yaa Konadu Sarfo Debrah took the third position with 85 net.

In the Juniors Category, Joe Daglo emerged champion with 73 net, Kofi Yeboah came second with 74 net with Kwabena Yeboah placing third also with 74 net after losing on count-back.

The one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition which was opened to amateur golfers throughout the country was to mark the 60th Birthday of Mr Kofi Asante, Special Assistant to the Chief Executive of U.T. Financial Services.

The event, sponsored by U.T. Financial Services, attracted about 100 amateur golfers.

Mr Prince Kofi Amoabeng, Chief Executive of U.T. Financial Services presented the prizes to the winners.
