150 golfers to compete for Tigo Tema Open trophy

Tema, Sept. 1, GNA - About 150 amateur and professional golfers would parade at the Tema Country Golf Course to vie for this year's Tigo Tema Open Golf Championship trophy on Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7.

Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, General Manager of the Club told GNA Sports at Tema on Monday that the competition which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Club, would be sponsored by Millicom Ghana Limited. He said the competition, which was opened to golfers throughout the country has Handicap 18 as the entry requirement but those with Handicap 24 may play to Handicap 18. Rene Kwame, holder of the Heritage Classic Wishbone trophy had declared his intention to compete and add the Tigo trophy also for the first time to his awards.

Other golfers expected to be seen in action would include Mike Aggrey, E.M. Kwame, Mike Ezan, Paul List, Matthias Dorfe, Charles Tabi and T.K. Gouvinus, all of the Achimota Golf Club. The Tema team, which would be led by Felix Owusu-Adjapong, President of the Club would include Kofi Gyaua, William Yeboah and Alex Fiagome. Victor Brave-Mensah, Emos Korblah and John Dorman would battle each other for honours in the 72-Hole Professionals event which has mouth-watering prizes from the sponsors. Seven prizes would be awarded in the Men's category with three going to the Ladies event. Tee-off is at 0600 hours. 01 Sept. 08
