100 to compete for Maggi Hotels Invitational Golf trophy

Accra, April 24, GNA - About 100 golfers would parade at the Takoradi Golf Course to compete for honours in the maiden Maggi Hotels Limited Invitational Golf Championship scheduled for Saturday, May 3. Mr George Lee Mensah, Captain of the Takoradi Golf Club told GNA Sports in Accra on Thursday that the competition would be played according to the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Club. He said invitation for the 18-Hole Stable-ford competition has been extended to golfers from Achimota, Tema, Celebrity, Takoradi and Tafo.

Mr Lee Mensah said entry requirement for the competition is Handicap 18 for Men and Handicap 24 for the Ladies. He, however, said the absence of veteran lady golfers who are participating in the All African Ladies Challenge Championship in Cairo, Egypt, would not affect the beauty of the game. George Peprah and L. Lupiac both of Takoradi have indicated their determination to lift the maiden trophy that will ginger them to win the Barclays Bank Open in a week's time.
