We've not seen "Africa" defined to date, yet!
Simply saying that "Africa accounts for about 90% of all malaria deaths globally" (a WHO self-serving datum, no doubt) is not particularly "educative" from where we sit. What is it, 90% of 100, 1,000,000?
(Read this and see the maps (The Malaria Atlas Project sheds new light on the impact of malaria control in Africa, (www.map.ox.ac.uk/)).
At a certain point, we could get to the absurd conclusion of a "Unitary Africa". That serves racists, absent-minded Europeans and Western media, and not sufficiently critically-minded "Africans", pretty well to very poorly.
There is an embedded fallacy, the "Fallacy of a Unitary Africa", we dare say!
We also say that in terms of democracy and free access to the vote, the record is clear: Ghana bested the US in 2016, and still does.
That is a fact!
So, simply, there are huge differences in character between/within African countries. It serves limited to no useful purpose to conflate all into one and advocate a unitary perspective, or approach, to so-called "African problem".
As for how and why "Africa has failed", we've covered quite a bit of that with respect to Ghana, our primary focus in all these communications.
Ghana is not Namibia!
Ghana is not South Africa!
Ghana is not Ethiopia!
Kwame Nkrumah's Ghana is not Liberia, or Rwanda, or Kenya!
'Nuff on that!
Greetings and peace!

Prof, your points are quite valid and logical. But regardless of the numbers, the malaria situation deserves a lot of concern in Africa; the parasite is increasingly becoming resistant to almost all the available drugs.

From the record, I know that you are one of the more knowledgeable individuals in these matters on this forum.
We are merely speaking as "aplanky"!
We will add, and you will agree, though, that prevention....having an effective program that reduces the incidence of standing water where people live, is still surest-fire way to manage the problem without drugs that must be imported. We recently read about some success on that front in Brazil.
Quite a lot of the incidence of malaria in Accra would for instance be reduced if the drainage problem is solved.
Greetings!

Undoubtedly, a good article highlighting some of Africa's socio-economic-political, and I might add, spiritual problems. Overall, there are no simple solutions. That's not to say, there are no solutions either. I will therefore just offer my opinion on one of the issues- our politics; and I mean, Ghana's political development since independence. The problem as I see with our democratic experiment is the fact we haven't actually seen, or practiced lasting or enduring democracy since the time of our independence. It's been democracy morphed into dictatorship, then military takeover, democracy, then military takeover, democracy, then military takeover which finally has morphed into our present day democracy. Bottom line, democracy hasn't been given the chance to flourish (without interruptions) in Ghana. I believe if we allow it (democracy) to grow and flourish without interruptions, the populace will eventually also become politically matured, and accordingly vote for competent people who will represent their interest(s), future, ans aspirations.

Thinking to be like a "white man" is the problem we're facing.
The white man is a "lazy, dirty lair", and you need to be reborn to understand and "overstand" that.
You want to study the European and apply it to us? That means we're going to be corrupt, and will always cheat, steal and wage wars and plunder where we do not have no business plundering.
IF YOU TRULY WANT TO BE LIKE THESE SNAKES, THAT'S THE CHARACTERISTICS YOU NEED TO ADOPT OR ELSE FORGET IT.
And as long as there're no "weak" people or race around for us a group to go rape, enslave and colonize to work for us as we did and continuing doing for these dirty and lazy people calling themselves "white" who love to make 700-1000% profit on our back as slaves, our situation may remain the same.
Our best bet is to go deep within ourselves to come out with our own rulership and that is completely going opposite to these devils and make it work at all cause. That's exactly what they did to us. They came out with everything that's opposite to our way of life and after killing all of our noble men, they forced "walking with our heads" upon the "orphans", and now as we walk, we're really not walking on our feet but with our heads, and that is what had allowed them to trade with us in a way that do not benefit us, and everything we take and learn from them do not actually work for us simply because the energy and the life force to make it work for us is not there to begin with.
Learning from the ant and the spider is good, and we had done it before to give us weaving and build with mud bricks, sprituality and many other things like even dancing. Yeah, we learned a lot from the very animals we're privileged to share our continent with, and the reasons why that teaching benefited us was because the animals and the ants and the spiders are cosmic beings who do not go against the will of God.
The "pale man" do not have that connection with God to impact you with no wisdom.simply because he has not got one. He has made you to believe that all is well with him simply because he'd successfully made us his fools who go round in life "walking on our heads" but could not realize it.
Let us become ourselves and the buffoonery will stop as this pale man and his African stooges won't be able to come close to us.

Look, one Lord Mauley or whatever said this in the British parliament in 1835 "I have toured that length and breath of African and I did not see a beggar, homeless person. Look, they have carved a policy Africans like putting a crab in a container. It is very, very hard for the crab to crawl out of it. That is the problem we are facing on the African continent.
We have to find a way to cart our own course. It will be difficult but gradually we will get there. We have understand what is ahead of us and also eschew the foolishness of PHD impeding anything that we try to do in Ghana and on the African continent.

We need to go opposite of everything they believed in 'cos that's exactly what they did to us. They taught us everything that was opposite to our way of life and as far as culture and spirituality is concerned to a point that whatever we learned no matter how smart we are is not working. Take for instant the concept of "CASH CROP". When Africa did not farm cash crop for others, we had food, then someone came from somewhere and forced us to use our farmland to farm (to enslave) what he wanted but which is not staple food for us, - The result was the begging of hunger in Africa.
Turning this arrangement around is one of the "going opposite" am talking about.

“THE NATURAL STEPS FOR CURING MALARIA- Malaria Is Filth In the Liver”
A comprehensive analysis of how malaria can be eliminated through natural steps has been compiled in a book written by a health specialist, Dr. Emmanuel K. Asenso ND NP.
The 48-page book catalogs the history behind the malaria disease, his personal experience with malaria-like symptoms, the natural causes or Pathophysiology of malaria. It also explains the reason why mosquitoes and plasmodia are not to be blamed for malaria-like symptoms.
Dr. Asenso decided to spend about 14 years to research about malaria and has come out with the book titled “THE NATURAL STEPS FOR CURING MALARIA- Malaria Is Filth In the Liver”
The 48-page book catalogs the history behind the malaria disease, his personal experience with malaria-like symptoms, the natural causes or Pathophysiology of malaria. It also explains the reason why mosquitoes and plasmodia are not to be blamed for malaria-like symptoms.
We AFRICANS can eradicate malaria without purchasing any drugs that are detrimental to our health from the West, or from whoever!
The doctor is a GHANAIAN.....but, most of our own will dismiss his findings, as usual. But had it come from Dr. White??????
The West can drive malaria out of AFRICA, within a twinkle of an eye but, the will to do so is non-existent and the multi-national corporate industries will not profit from our dilemma if that happens…..hence, rubbishing findings like this from DR. ASENSO – AN AFRICAN!!!!
In the process, they will collude and collaborate with their neo-colonialists remnants (the UNCLE TOMS) in Africa to destroy such findings and then the cycle of malaria related diseases continues in our continent and the West’s pharmaceutical companies will continue to flourish.
What do I think about your suggestions to replace the election of a president and parliamentarians etc, etc..............
At least, you have shown to be a THINKER! Well, coming up with some interesting ideas. But, for me, I believe that we need a total shift from the norm (refer to my response to your first article) – in short, we need to be AFRICANS as created by Onyame, Yehowa, Nyankopon, Odomankoma, Oboadee.
But for as long as we do not chart our own paths on this planet, like we did before in our GREAT PAST......nobody will like to see us prosper and develop but, ourselves.
We were given a lingo and brains by our CREATOR for a reason and for them to be discarded in pursuance of others/lingos??? (Think deeply about it).
In addition,......the WEST have decided DEM-ALL-CRAZY is what is good for the world, there is nothing you can do to stand up to them with any new proposals. You will only be given a leeway, only if you can assure them of continually MILKING and RAPING us of our rich natural resources on the cheap!!!
HISTORY SPEAKS VOLUMES!!! And Saudi Arabia comes to mind – a one party or kingdom state.
Therefore, y question is, why do most AFRICANS overseas tend to turn a blind eye to the atrocities inflicted on our truly PATRIOTIC LEADERS who stood up against the OPPRESSION of our people.
Why do some of our so-called intellectuals continue to behave like ostriches and criticize our own, without looking thoroughly into the facts of history which are well documented in the archives of the WEST.
All classified information on many, many atrocities inflicted on our continent and are still being inflicted are well documented and have been released for public consumption.....so, why the HYPOCRISY and NAIVETY of our own people, when it comes to AFRICA? Why? PLEASE GO DIG FACTS AND READ!!!!!!!!!!
FACTS: Los Angeles — With the public in the U.S. and Latin America becoming increasingly skeptical of the war on drugs, key figures in a scandal that once rocked the Central Intelligence Agency are coming forward to tell their stories in a new documentary and in a series of interviews with The Huffington Post.
More than 18 years have passed since Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Gary Webb stunned the world with his “Dark Alliance” newspaper series investigating the connections between the CIA, a crack cocaine explosion in the predominantly African-American neighborhoods of South Los Angeles, and the Nicaraguan Contra fighters — scandalous implications that outraged LA’s black community, severely damaged the intelligence agency’s reputation and launched a number of federal investigations.
It did not end well for Webb, however. Major media, led by The New York Times, Washington Post and Los Angeles Times, worked to discredit his story. Under intense pressure, Webb’s top editor abandoned him. Webb was drummed out of journalism. One LA Times reporter recently apologized for his leading role in the assault on Webb, but it came too late. Webb died in 2004 from an apparent suicide. Obituaries referred to his investigation as “discredited.” HMMMM!!!!
FACTS:
Confessions of an Economic Hit Man

By Robert Bazell Chief science and health correspondent NBC News updated 10/1/2010
FACTS:
U.S. government medical researchers intentionally infected hundreds of people in Guatemala, including institutionalized mental patients, with gonorrhea and syphilis without their knowledge or permission more than 60 years ago.
Many of those infected were encouraged to pass the infection onto others as part of the study.
About one third of those who were infected never got adequate treatment.
On Friday, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius offered extensive apologies for actions taken by the U.S. Public Health Service.
FACTS: The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male, also known as the Tuskegee Syphilis Study or Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment was an infamous clinical study conducted between 1932 and 1972 by the U.S. Public Health Service. The purpose of this study was to observe the natural progression of untreated syphilis in rural African-American men in Alabama under the guise of receiving free health care from the United States government.
Finally, if all this can be done to their own and others, why not AFRICA? We AFRICANS should stop being naïve and gullible to everything thrown to us by the WEST.
Our development or progress is not their concern and of any interest to them!!!!! OUR rich natural resources are and they will by any means necessary get it…..by means of collusion with their UNCLE TOMS that were left behind on our continent who continue to APE around the lifestyles and lingos of their masters….believing that in so doing, they are better than the ‘TRUE’ AFRICANS. (Please refer to my humble response to your part one of this article).

It's good to know you are still kicking hard with your arguments on this platform........good on you!
However, South Korea, Malaysia and Singapore.......the countries that you've picked out are nowhere near Ghana in terms of possessing any of our rich natural resources.
The main reason why the 'vultures' left them alone to develop to where they are today, following independence some five decades ago, when they were somewhat at the same point as Ghana, if not worse.......are as follows:
How many coup attempts and actual coups have occurred in Ghana, following our independence?
And apart from that, the attempts on destabilizing our nation by the UNCLE TOMS, with the help of the CIA............
- the deadliest bomb attack on Nkrumah at Kulugungu near Bawku in August 1962.
- Two other bomb explosions occurred on the same day, on 7 July 1961. One wrecked Nkrumah's statue outside Parliament House.
- A further two bomb attacks in August and September 1961 failed to kill Nkrumah. Yet another bomb exploded in a crowd outside Flagstaff House on 2 September 1962, killing one person and injuring 63 others, as Nkrumah's enemies (THE UNCLE TOMS) persisted with the attempts to kill him.
Have you ever thought of its effects in developing a nation? Some of these nations were at one point assisted by NKRUMAH to develop, when we were way ahead of them. (please go check the facts)
Have any of those nations ever come near any of these disruptive measures influenced by the WEST, in their history?
Why do you think he was targeted?
NKRUMAH was the one with the vision, propelling us beyond the nations you outlined.........but, that was short-lived with all the 'communism', 'socialism' and 'capitalism' jargon.
The real reason was, Nkrumah was not prepared to fall prey to any collusion with the imperialists and colonialists. He was NOT prepared to sell OUR rich natural resources on the cheap to the WEST, after attaining our independence.
They have had a free ride of looting us for centuries, during the colonial days and were not prepared for their despicable activities to be truncated by a leader whose vision was for GHANA and AFRICA on the whole.
Nkrumah's plans was and would have starved the WEST of easy access to OUR rich natural resources. And that, came with a price.......which the likes of you, don't seem to get after all these years.
A QUOTE FROM ROYAL ENOCH (in 2009):
"Indeed, wonders never cease. Just about two weeks ago, the New York State Senate honored Ghana's first Prime minster Dr. Kwame Nkrumah with a legislative resolution.
This resolution was proposed and led by a New York senator by the name of Bill Perkins. Ironically, the legislative body paused in its deliberations to celebrate the 100th Birthday of our late president.
But more importantly, to acknowledge the late president's contributions to Pan-Africanism.
Indeed, I wondered why this gesture from the United States all of the sudden. And why now? Because really, nobody could dispute the fact that, had it not been for the United States government's interference in our national policies, Ghana would've been a very powerful industrialized nation by now.
Therefore, in my opinion, the United states owes Nkrumah more than an acknowledgment. The United States owes both Dr Nkrumah, and Ghana an apology for the evils which they have done unto us."........end of QUOTE.
Finally, the UNCLE TOMS left behind are continually serving their slave masters' interests and will do anything to please them even if it means destroying the future of our nation, in return for meagre rewards to them and their families.
Most of their children have become the new SPINELESS AFRICAN LEADERS continuing their fathers' mentally enslaved legacies, hence our economic stagnation.........
GOD BLESS GHANA!

This is a question that doesn't lend itself to an easy answer. For those of us who have lived among Europeans and other Westerners in their own countries for many years, the last thing we would want to see is the return of white people to Africa as our superiors again. On the other hand, given the absolute mess we have made of the self-governing experiment in the past six decades, what other options do we have? Africa has been betrayed by the selfish and criminal political leadership so badly that the vast majority of the inhabitants of the continent are now destitute. The continent is lagging behind in almost every sphere of human endeavor to the extent that we have to depend on the largesse of outsiders in nearly everything. Take the recent outbreak of the Ebola epidemic in West Africa as an example. But for the timely intervention of Westerners, who can tell what the fate of the entire African continent might have been? The truth is that we may not want the Europeans back, but without a dramatic change in the attitude of our political leaders that priotizes the welfare of the citizens over their own parochial interests, Africa may have little choice but to ultimately acquiesce to the domination of the whiteman again.

Why should Africa bring back the Europeans? Any African who thinks like that, is a senseless being & don't know what he or she is saying. Ever since the slave trade, these stupid whites, do look down on Africans. These people came to Africa to steal most of our natural resources & some of our great great grandfathers and grandmothers, to develop their countries for them to be who they're, but do regard animals more than we blacks. White people are racist but we Africans, do entertain them. It's time for Africans to unite & stop the foolishness. If an African is elected as a president, then they forget that it was the people, who voted for them. It's there that they start their selfish life. How can an African president get much money than the country? Before they move to the top, you'll see that they have a flat stomach & as soon as they get there, their stomachs begins to pump up like pregnant women. If they do something wrong & you criticize it, they'll hire some senseless beings to come & kill you. And if things happen like that, it puts fear on the people & that enables them to continue their foolishness by being corrupt, looting taxpayers money & also stealing some natural resources to foreign countries for their selfish interests. It's time for these stupid presidents, come back to their senses. Corrupt African politicians & citizens, need to be hanged or face firing squad. If Africans are able to implement this, Africa, will be a better place for us to live. If you google to find out how rich African presidents are, you'll be shocked. Why all these mess? If one goes to African villages, that person will come across a child being naked or half naked, their school looks like a cage & their roads are very bad. Some people have been assigned for it, but are not doing & the presidents will be like dumb, without pressuring them. All African presidents are taking us for granted & it's time we let them know where they belong. In overseas, if a white & black people commit the same crime & they're to be sentenced, they'll jail the white person one year, whilst the black will be slapped with ten years. The most stupid, uselessness & senseless presidents Africa has ever had are JJ Rawlings & John Dramani Mahama, all from NDC. Upon number of years that Rawlings was in power, what did he achieve? Nothing! He bullied Ghanaians for being rich, giving lashes to some women for wearing short dresses, messed the economy, cut all timbers in Ghana & stole some of our natural resources to foreign countries. John Dramani Mahama too, has stolen billions of dollars to Dubai, excluding the gold bars that was seized by former Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. When he was no more in office, he came to Ghana to negotiate with stupid John Mahama, & the meeting was behind closed door. When the agreement was met, John Mahama went to Iran to collect his share. He went with the media, but the meeting was held behind closed door. After he finished his corrupt agreement, he took a picture with the president & fooled his stinking dead mother & NDC supporters that he was going to help Iranians fight terrorists. Whom do you think you were fooling? Do you know which country started the terrorist operation? Iranians have so many terrorist groups & as soon as you said that, the Iranian president laughed. Even these two Guantanamo detainees who're in Ghana, if they strike do you know what will happen? Do you know their background? Do you know what they preach @ the Mosque? Dead to America! Dead to the Jews & Christians & you've brought these two to Ghana. Do you think Ghana is for your uncivilized father who didn't train you well? Big fool & womanizer like Rawlings. You have no sense in your damn head. Was it Akua Donkor who looks like a gorilla campaigned for you to become president? Stupid fool you've built a house for her & stolen from the taxpayers money to buy her brand new Mitsubishi Pajero & abandoned the party campaigners. Because of your greediness, the money that the Iranian president took from what you stole, enabled you to go to former president Obama to collect the $300,000 to bring the terrorists to Ghana. Even their fellow Muslim nations refused them so how much more you? You're really a dead goat as you said & I think a dead goat is even much more better than you. Nana Akuffo Addo, the power of the nation has been given to you by the Almighty God & please don't show favoritism. All former presidents & their government officials, please let them be arrested, prosecute them, retrieve all that have been stolen & last but not the least, either you let them face firing squad or hang them, not forgetting government workers who've stolen & still stealing money & properties from the nation. John Mahama, do you know that all animals on earth have more sense than you? How on earth did you allowed the Chinese, Russians & other foreign nationals to operate small scale mining business in Ghana? Where you've built your houses & the party's headquarters, tell them to go & destroy them because there are gold underneath them & after, build them again. Aboa bi ba. Wo ye odwan funu ampa. Wo ye kwasia mu kwasia ampa. Nana Addo, collect all the stolen cars & the SUV's that they're claiming that they bought them before they were out of power. Does the government of Ghana sell cars & SUV's? Give them how much they bought the properties for, & please collect these items back. Thanks.

We don't have to bring them back. We can study their mindsets and practices and implement same, IF we really to change in freedom. "Go to the ants and study their ways."
Thinking to be like a "white man" is the problem we're facing.
The white man is a "lazy, dirty lair", and you need to be reborn to understand and "overstand" that.
