The article's author is on point in several of the issues he raises. Anyone who has been folowing his writings from Canada on Ghanaweb platform will agree with me.
My take is as follows:
What is needed is a real national forum on education, with arrangements made for all, both within and outside Ghana, to contribute. Expertise must be weighted and duly rewarded. Moreover, the forum must encompass debates on all the levels of education: pre-school, elementary (primary + middle), secondary, and tertiary. Technical and vocational training must also be part of the debate.
Hopefully, politicians and civil servants who have ben entrusted with running an educational system that fulfills the nation's need for a populazion well endowned with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed on today's and tomorrow's job markets will rise up and not make excuses such as "we don't have the time", "we don't have the resources", etc.
The current government has the human resource capacity, the ability to mobilize the requireed financial resources, and above all, the moral responsibility, to design, organize and implement the debate referred to above.
Can all of the above be done before the beginning of the next academic year? You bet! What's worth having is both worth working for. Is the will there? That is the only question.
