I have been reading some pathetic attempts to brush aside this scandalous and shameful and embarrasing action foisted on Pres. Nana Akufo-Addo and Ghanaians.
Not to understand the gravity of what happened is simply to miss the fact that characters who plagiarise are dishonest people who CANNOT BE TRSUTED! The words they plagiarise don't mean anything to them and they don't utter them out of conviction but to fool and deceive the audience in a bid to portay themselves as what they are not.
Plagiarism may even have a criminal side, when the intellectual property stolen is copyrighted, like a book or music.
Yes, it is indeed true that Ghanaians ar emediocre and dwell on petty issues instead of the big ones. But how can one expect small-minded people to deal with big issues? Their level of development that is at the developing stage - more like retarded - we tend to forget. That's why Nana couldn't find anyone to write him a good speech, except that young man of 33 who has no experience in speech writing. It won't surprised me if it emerged that he contracted the task to a Nigeria who produced the speech! Tweah!

Good piece. Well said. We need to develop. In the developed world not even the homeless will talk about presidential plagiarism. It is waste of time. This act is unacceptable academically. We are moving foreword, guys!

My Fellow Ghanaians it is about time we get serious and know that we are behind economically after over 50 years of independence.Countries like Malaysia have made tremendous strives in their economy whlist we mark time and even reverse match. Its a pitty that irrelevant issue phrase has rather hit the head lines instead of the issues that confornt us as a country. Its a shame.Ghanaians must bow our head down in shame, "we are where we are because of our attitude".Nana Addo needs all our support to make Ghana work again. To thos who are sitting on the fence and watching on, your attitude is un patriotic and unGhanaian, you dont deserve to be in the country.

Ghana has a lot of problems that need urgent attention---like education, clean drinking water, healthcare, roads, railways, communication, good agricultural base...and the list goes on. And here we are with a new government whose priorities don't make sense. We can't get our arms and heads around the current regions we have but right off the bat we are busy thinking about partitioning the existing regions and consequently create more bureaucracy.
Partitioning of regions is something that could wait for a year or two. So where are all those people who prompted Nana to say "we have the men to do the job?"

While plagiarism will not put food on the table, it speaks to honesty, fraud and trust. Akufo-Addo used words that meant nothing to him, while failing to credit the person from whom he lifted those words.
