No civilized democracy chooses its presidential/vice presidential candidates through affirmative action, not by any stretch of the imagination, but the short-sighted obtuse politicians in the two main parties, bereft of common sense and conviction of purpose do just that. Whether we like it or not, northerners have proved to useless, and absolutely incompetent in leadership. From Dr. Hilla Limann who was shoed-in into the Presidency after the disqualification of Imoru Egala, to the present JD Mahama have woefully failed as leaders. Who could forget the discombobulate Limann's government, which culminated in Rawlings' second coup? To buttress my point, northerners in Mahama's government comprise of over 65%, is it then any wonder that all economic indices are pointing to the south?
I have nothing against northerners per se, but there is real and palpable concern about their leadership abilities. Through the dastardly practice of choosing vice presidential candidates from the northern regions, these northerners sneak into the Presidency in the event of the incapacitation of the elected President. These northerners have no ideological base, yet take power and mess things up. The practice of choosing vice presidential candidates from the north must stop. Once bitten twice shy!!!
