Legon may be on Ga land but it's a bit special in the Ghana context. It is the most national of our universities.
Will the youth movement be satisfied if one of the four appointees is Ga or they want three or all? Then we must look at the other non-government appointees to the council. If there are Gas there, then there'll be some balance.
If you look at the long history of our premier university, Gas have held very leading positions. It's not only the past vice chancellor. If there are three northerners in a four man group of appointees, it does seem too much but ethic balance will be difficult to maintain with only four appointees.
Maybe the youth organization should be on the lookout and be proactive - to caution government BEFORE the appointments are made. Who knows? Maybe it will be Henry Nii Kpakpo Allotey who gets appointed to a big post.
