You don't have to be an economist to analyse what Bawumia said.As a matter of common sense any Ghanaian with high school diploma should be able to analyse the performance of npp and ndc.I hold several degrees but I can't presume to know it all or I can't be critiqued by someone who is educated because I am more educated?
That is ignorance.

You see where this morons in NPP always go wrong with their arrogant posturings? Who told you that, any ordinary management students having done research with the relevant data would not be professionally positioned to punch holes in the stupid, hogwash and populist propaganda infested lecture, the lying Bawumia presented? Why did you think, it should take an academic with same standard to do the critique? So by your stupid analogy here, you have now approved of the fact that, Bawumia and shortingo, desperate Akuffo Addo can not question Mahama competence as a President because the duo have never been anywhere near the presidency? Why should some few greedy and selfish Ghanaians like Akuffo Addo and Bawumia feel so comfortable, setting fire in enterprising and promising project Ghana, just to trap the few mice and rats for their selfish ends, just because, they can not influence things?

I would disagree with you that IMANI does not have the appropriate credentials to challenge some of the views expressed by Dr Bawumia in his lecture. I’m a supporter of the NPP and have followed the various incarnations of the UP tradition since I was able to walk, read and write.
IMANI’s review of the points covered in the lecture has some credibility. I do not think Bawumia would be proud to call this an academic lecture. The style of delivery, data source, the points covered and the conclusions drawn appear to indicate that Bawumia was conducting a political rally rather than giving a lecture on the economic situation of the country.
Although Bawumia made a case and brought out important points to support the NDC’s economic mismanagement mantra, IMANI’s comments are fair.
Please let us be bold to criticise authority when the situation demands it!

The major headache confronting Ghana is the fact that we turn to politicize everything including issues of national interest. From where I stand, we lack assertive and critical thinking people. We encourage and glorify mediocrity just for political propaganda and cheap political points for our vested parochial interest and personal gains. What IMANI did was to play the role of government spokes person in pure political propaganda for their own selfish gains. It will interest you to know that we see bizarre and weird decisions by top civil servants in public institutions and you just wonder how they earn such key positions of responsibility. That is why the Chief Psychiatrist of Mental Health Authority of Ghana can falsely implicate his colleague doctors with a mental illness and instigate their dismissal based on same. If the Chief Psychiatrist of Ghana's Mental Health Authority can prescribe indefinite suspension of doctors without salary as a remedy to a purported mental illness he alleges his colleague doctors are suffering, then one can only conclude we have clowns and jokers in this country. It is seemingly ridiculous that the same Dr. Akwasi Osei is championing the implementation of the mental health act to stop abuse and discrimination of mentally ill and to protect their rights. It only indicates we will always be faced with the problem of institutional failure under incompetent, corrupt and recklessly irresponsible hands who are very petty and personal. IMANI is a respected policy institution and should maintain neutrality in the face of facts rather than seemingly engaging in partisan stance . They should focus attention on corrupt and defunct public institutions and government organizations suffering chronic paralysis and failure under incompetent and irresponsible hands which is crumbling the economy and visiting untold hardship on the masses. They should rather team up with astute intellectuals of the likes of Dr. Bawumiah to expose and check rot in institutions of governance. If the likes of IMANI begin to shirk their watch dog role in checking corruption, financial malfeasance and mismanagement in public institutions of governance then Ghana is doomed. They shouldn't do things for political expediency. Political corruption and over politicization of issues of national importance is rapidly killing Ghana. Otherwise Dr. Bawumiah who is such a brilliant economist should routinely be consulted by government irrespective of his political affiliation and not allow to waste. That is what happens in true democracies. Political propaganda can work for everything but certainly not unfavorable economic indicators largely induced by naked corruption with impunity.

Ghanaian academics are of the most aimless kind. They love arguing constantly about unproductive notions that lead us astray as a nation.
Give me any Ghanaian academic and I will critique them so well that we will all know who they are and what evil lies in them. They are generally proud and unable to come to a decent conclusion about initiatives that lead to sound decision making.
Sorry, Ghana's academics are generally too proud and underproductive when it comes to progress. Get rid of them from leadership and Ghana will go forward as a nation.

Is it Dr. Bawumia's doctorate degree or published articles that makes you, Nana Yaw Osei, see him as a Ghana demigod or authority on economics? The last time I checked Ghana's presumed smart ones in every imaginable field of discipline bolted from Ghana to seek money elsewhere. Those left and those who made it back could either not hang with a rather fierce competition out in the real world or sit in Ghana where they reign as undisputed kings in a fish pond.
Dr. Bawumia is as flawed as anyone of Ghana's educated bunch and that is not saying much. Can you and or Dr. Bawumia list any accomplished task and resulting benefits/output that continues in Ghana today since his stint at Bank of Ghana? I am a product of Ghana's secondary school system lucky enough to have completed 6th form at a time when our chemistry teacher explained to us that his job was to explain chemistry to us, as students, so a PhD holder could not pull a fast one on us. You, Mr. Nana Yaw Osei, fall into a class of morons who would believe that 1 + 1 = 3 just so long as it is repeated by someone who is PhD credentialed. Ghana has fallen apart in spite of Dr. Bawumia and all those pretentious know it all. After all Ghana has never been run by a military or civilian government made up of uneducated farmers and fishermen but by the best from our educated class. Dr. bawumia like Nana Akufo-Addo and many many others have had their hand at Ghana's government one time or another and the results have been the same; a miserable bunch who came and stole whatever is not bolted to the ground or to God. There is no rich Ghanaian but a thieving Ghanaian who have used government assets and or connections to feed from the national trough or treasury. Dr. Bawumia would be a sought after gem if he could save one single financial institution anywhere in the world including Ghana but he will have to work; getting rich quick with some cheaply earned credential is the way to go in Ghana and Dr. Bawumia wants a get rich quick scheme where he had failed in the real working world.

Granted Dr Bawumia has been to good schools, highly educated, etc.
But the golden rule in academia and even to be qualified by peers is that whatever you publish should be professionally valid and should be credible (or make sense) to at least 70 percent of your readership. This also means must have integrity. When Dr Bawumia is judged on the above merits irrespective of his education he seemed to has deceived 99.9 percent of his readership as most of the things he put amounted to intellectual dishonesty.
So the case of comparing IMANI staff and their qualifications dies not hold.
Dr Bawumia emphasized greatly about infrastructure to mis-make his case in the poserpoint presentation talking about land, buildings and even road networks as a top rapper in politics.
So why would you think that a land economist is not the right expert than even Dr Bawumia to discuss land, buildings, and infrastructure better. Since this is not even economics but mostly falls under land economy and project management a core subject if you pursue land economy.

Here they are. You think academic credentials are equal to wisdom and analytical thinking. Some academic professors are dumb and dumber than BSc holders. See real life analysis of economics and business issues are not textbook interpretations. The economic theories are only an aid to help us think. The theories themselves are not economic answers. Economic behaviours and trends do not follow perfectly what the theories portray. One need deeper insight, wisdom and the ability to read underlying trends.
I condemned Bawumia from day one. You don't do analysis without placing your arguments in context. Figures without context are misleading. If this is what Bawumia is hoping to churn out as a vice president then we are in more serious trouble. They will lose my vote. It was empty joke with numbers and cynical giggling and not a seriously thought through presentation. Bawumia must wake up and stop the classroom debates. I am sorry my rating for Bawumia keep falling. Good day.

Thank you Nana, its high time we call a spade a spade. Let us promote Intellectual Integrity; Dr. Bawumia has presented a paper and the world is at liberty to critique his work but it does not help if criticisms are baseless and lacks rigorous analysis and counter views. I like the IMANI think tank concept but it must be done right!
This is probably the most illogical of analyses I've ever read.

Franklin Kudjoe and his cohorts are just pedantic.
It's okay to be pedantic isn't it? If only the focus is on the topic at hand why not? Let's just accept opposite views and pick out the positives that's the way to go.

Organizations and individuals like imami and Co. Are those collapsing Ghana for us. They knows nothing and are not also ready to learn that why we are in this doom today
Do we now agree that Dr Bawumia isn't qualified to criticise the President? Has Bawumia been a President before ( that is, if Nana Yaw's thinking and submission is anything to go by)?
Good question. Unfortunately, there is no academic subject called presidency. But there is a subject called economics. One needs to understand very well before he can discover shortcomings.
Ama Ghana, unfortunately your position rather is that of a pathetic shallow mind. There is an academic and professional discipline called leadership, the responsibility of a president is a leadership responsibility.
The major headache confronting Ghana is the fact that we turn to politicize everything including issues of national interest. From where I stand, we lack assertive and critical thinking people. We encourage and glorify medio ...
