The author has tackled another very important worrying issue in Ghana. As more citizens become aware of the dangerous consequences of toxic waste, one would expect that government, public and private sector actors, not forgetting individuals, would rise to the task of protecting valuable human lifes.

Thanks to the the author for making sure this issue of toxic waste dumping in Ghana isn't forgotten. Unfortunately, we don't have a govt, it seems.

Kudos to you for bringing attention to this issue. Sadly, this story won't appear on the front page of any newspaper and we will continue to happily live in bliss while the greedy people who took money to import this toxic waste into our country continue to enjoy their ill-begotten wealth. Where is the EPA in all of this?

Sadly enough Ghana can do much more than she thinks but the leaders won't allow it. So when Ghana has a better leadership then Ghana can begin to raise again. But for now nothing seems to work, age expectancy is very low. If nothing chances people will begin to die from diseases that are not even well known or the source unknown. Now this issue, when one is silent, nothing moves anywhere. There should be a demonstration, a fight, a something against this thing for the government to shake and understand the problem. If we are all quiet do you expect anything to change? Even of we complain here and there but where are we taking it to? Something to think about..

All this has to do with their stupid new world order shit! Depopulation...since it is found in some other countries around...just like the HIV, EBOLA & recently the ZIKKA virus ... I know might sound a bit weird but if you really pay attention to what is going on around the world lately on the news plus current bible prophecies you'll understand... Ghanaians must stand up and pray seriously against all these pestilence and evil plots...look at Brussels now?! Do you truly think it was an accident??? Naa they're all man made, inside jobs! Just like the 9/11, France attack and a lot of school shootings, racial unrest..all well planned and castrated just to get to Us, but thanks to the Most High GOD that people are really waken up from their dreams.as the holy bible says there will be more wisdom in the end times. The enemies are creating all these so there will be unrest, fear and panic in order to bring about their one world, one religion under one government shit! Martial law.. Mark of the beast ( rfid implant/ micro chip) So please let us all wake up and pray for our motherland Ghana, pray for Israel and also pray for the world. May the LORD GOD Almighty protects, guard and lead us safely until He's arrival, I say arrival and not return as He's ALMOST Here...signs all around us!! Stay blessed everyone...

The security services should do their core jobs very, very well and effectively and stop doing the dirty work of the government of the day. They should remember governments come and go. They are paid from tax payers money and not from current govt. members taxes only.Their alligience should go the state of Ghana and not a particular political party.

I suggested to some of Ghana's political elites, some 10 years ago, that we have to create a new shipping standard that is in line with international shipping and sea vessel regulations; it was simple.
Which law, local or international, would Ghana violate if Ghana's Ports and Harbor authority had a website where every shipping line/vessel and associated clearing houses and agents do go to complete in details the content of a container, container ID and others details prior to the shipping vessel leaving port destined for Ghana. No one in Ghana, not the President, not legislators and not our talking heads with all the classroom education to the ying yang can tell me that a container was shipped from some country and arrived in Ghana and no one in Ghana knows who shipped it and who is to take delivery. Either we are getting close to being stupid and dumb in Ghana or we have been both for a long time.

Why should the govt sit down when poor iinocent youth and children are developing early cancer through burning to retrieve copper wires from e-waste, and they do this with bare hands.

Sometimes I feel sad when I hear of a situation like we can't trace the owner of a suspected container , car, etc... but hopefully we shall overcome them with great and humble citizens ready to do the work better

Though I am sympathetic to the author's point-of-view, I wish he would concern himself with facts. Specifically, he would have done himself and his readers a favor by actually looking at the data on e-waste exports to Ghana. Specifically, the most comprehensive survey ever done on Ghana's e-waste problem was 2011's United Nations Environmental Program "Ghana E-Waste Country Assessment." It found, notably, that 85% of the electronics shipped to Ghana were functioning and/or repairable. That is, the vast majority were not junk. Furthermore, the volumes total in the tens of thousands of ton per year - not millions. The author's contention that 250 million tons of e-waste was dumped in Ghana over the years has no basis in fact, and would, in fact, make Ghana - not China - the world's leading deport for e-waste. It's not even close. So rather than write exaggerations, perhaps it'd be a good idea to go back and actually take in the facts. I'll be interested to see what you write then.

Hmm! This issue needs to be seriously addressed by the African Countries concerned. In as much as these obsolete wastes attracts some level of economic benefits to scrape diggers, the dangers are serious.
