Mr. Kwarteng, you are one among the very few genuine politicians in Ghana. I know you are an NPP MP of (from around) Obuasi. I also know you have accounting and or finance background and one time a deputy finance minister during ex-president Kufuor's time. You are very knowledgeable considering your background. You have in-depth knowledge of things - more than a historian or a political scientist and your control over the English, the articulation - more than an English professor. And what sterling character do you have? With full digestion of issues, you give praise where it is due and positive criticism when it is its time. You do this with no political party coloration. I remember you wrote to eulogize the late Prof Awonor, who was at the side of political divide. People may not like you for saying the truth more especially when what you said is perceived to be to their disadvantage. But the truth always stands. And God knows your heart. He recognizes you even if men do not.

Well, I still have a copy of a book Kwarteng wrote about Rawlings (the MP and I share the same surname). Actually my friend campaigned with in Obuase when he ran for MP.
Thanks, and have a great weekend.

Dr Mensa Otibil, any sound and sane person will know is an NPP man. How many articles has Mr Otabil not written that cowardly attacks the current Government. As a known man of God as he claims, I will have thought that Mr Otabil will be mores subtile in his critisens of the Government.
Democracy is everyone's right to practise. Yet wisdom says men who preaches a closer walk with the Almighty God will be circumspect in
their public utterances. Well, the world lives in the last stages of its foundations: Mathew 24 and other scriptures confirms the issues under discussion. The Church and State becoming one. This must NOT be so but for the WORD of God must be fulfilled.

Are you his motivational or frustration translator? Do you think we do not understand what he said? He talked of government monopolizing education, etc., for an example, while he is allowed through "HIS" church to build a university. No nation on earth does not have deep and uncompromising vested interest in education. The future of generations and the nation reside there. For every government on earth, it is not a money-making venture, profit-driven capitalistic institution, not education. Who makes money from education? If it so, Ghana will remain poorer and with fewer well-educated people.
Some may be luck, some may claim God made way for them, but a nation does not depend on luck or prayers for its generations to be educated. It plans and makes a education affordable to its vast majority, not only those who can pay for it. That is what Nkrumah attempted. The pastor may never understand that one, not in this lifetime. That is not to say private fee-paying education is bad. But a nation cannot thrive and prosper based on that expensive education set up across the nation. Millions cannot afford it. Million will not graduate because they cannot pay to finish and millions will be indebted.
Remember Nkrumah? He had no mansions but built universities and offered free education and set generations of Ghanaians on the road to better future. Again check out Germany and see how education is done.
The best roads in all countries on earth are built by governments and states. If you go to Germany, you see the example. Even ancient Rome had the government built the Appian Way. The criminal Hitler copied the government involvement in road construction and continued building the Autobahn that was established by earlier regime as a federal controlled-access highway system, of course for him to transport troops rapidly to war as Romans did. Yes, the Great Wall of China was built by government embodied by the Chinese emperor and his officials.
Ghanaians do not need a pastor to tell them they should want better. They have always wanted better, indeed the best, that was why they voted Nkrumah into power, only later to be disappointed as he became paranoid after bombs were thrown at him.
Point to a single house Nkrumah owned or wealth he accrued and passed on to his spouse, children and sycophants? We have government ministers selling government residents and lands to themselves and pastors said nothing. Of course, they wanted better for themselves just as the pastor accrue wealth.
Jesus did not make money or chase money. He said give Caesar what is Caesar's. Caesar was government. You idiots always quote the Bible and call on Jesus to justify stupidity. If you walk in Jesus' footsteps, you will not accrue wealth because he said it will be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter heaven.
If these words are his, you are all following rich people to hell.
How cares whether it is partisan or not. It is of no significance when one understands the magnitude and implication of what has been said, given the media saturation of such characters cloaked in religiosity, billboards all-over screaming.
Ghanaians want the best, but the best is not going to come through businessmen and entrepreneurs running government. DEMOCRACY IS NOT EQUAL TO CAPITALISM. They may compliment each other and that is all and that is where it ends, complimenting democracy. It is democracy that guarantees life and liberty for capitalism to thrive not the other way around.
Away with unreasonable ideas that will spell doom to millions of Ghanaians.

We absolutely don't have any problem when a legal child of the land decides to speak to add to the progress of his land especially when people who claim to be politicians and wanting to save things end up compounding the problems of the citizenry but, when we found out, speeches are made to promote an ill idea against another, is our headache. The preacherman, is one who carries a lot of respect and authority and hence its inappropriate to attack his persons nor any of his investments but, will tackle his speech.
First, Pastor Otabil has constantly and genuinely flayed this government for its inability to solve the energy crises which tends to be stable somehow. Somewhere along the line he even referred to them (people in governmeny) as lacking common sense in solving it. Presently, the problem seems to be subsidizing and yet, he claimed the citizens shouldn't be happy or its a minimal progress. Granted, what then does he except the government to do again apart from solving problems and creating avenues for the betterment of its citizenry.
For the past years, churches and pastors have doubled as compared to any other professions and yet nothing can be boasted from these people. Rather, the masses have been receiptients of sufferings from them because these people live off from their toils and sweats.
Its so sad when people who are supposed to know better tend to refuse the truth and spew out anything to project an idea of an organizations they belong to.
Pastor Otabil, was emphatic "government has no business doing business" but, has the preacherman considers that the mass of the people are poor and some couldn't afford three square meals a day?. What then becomes of these people when government leaves everything into the hands of profits seekers?.
In any case, we don't believe any government will sabotage any investor who is interested in setting up any of the amenities he alluded to and as is clearly evident, he has his own university. The fact remains that, the not having masses prefer government institutions because they can at least afford to patronise them.
The primary purpose of government is to intervene for the citizenry and make life somehow comfortable for them.
Why didn't Pastor Otabil complain and lambast the Kufour administration for bringing the National Health Insurance Scheme, The Metro Mass Transport, The School capitation grants and the feeding programmes or these programmes are not part of government businesses which he had vehemently opposed?.
Not every citizen can afford private education, health, roads and the likes and so he must get it clear that government is needed in every activities of our daily lives.
Perhaps, Pastor Otabil wanted to create controversies to allow the book which he helped launch sell, because that has become the norm currently in the country?. Instances being the brawl between Delay and Ahoofe Patri over a name "CocoaBrown" which has already wet the appetite of people to cram for it before it even arrives or the feud between Shatta Wale and Bull dog which has propelled the former's track "Kaikai" to be enjoying massive airplay.
Pastor Otabil, should know, investors cannot do all neither can the government but, rather they all depend on each other.
He should concentrate on the motivational messages and the sermon and criticises when it will be in the interest of the masses and cease these capitalist chorus singing. Thank you

I guess the propensity of Dr. Otabil to only see incompetence when NDC is in power is what is not allowing many to see the point he is making, which is credible actually.
