And by the way is Islam african? I wonder why some of you begin to shiver when you hear the name CHRIST and CHRISTIANITY. NB: Not everyone who bears a Christian name is a Christian the same way not every muslim is a terrorist. Someday our children would rise up to blame Islam for the killings going on now and a muslim too will write an article to justify that the terrorists were not muslim but operated under the guise of Islam. You can choose to disagree with his article but never talk of what u don't have answers to. For now no one WILL and CAN NEVER know the truth behind any religion until death so let's hold firmly to our faith till the end of time. But for me and my household we will serve the Lord forever and ever.

This article is laden with a lot of ill-logic and a lot of lies and nonsense. Basically, Charles Prempeh sounds as if there was Christianity in Africa before the early missionaries came to Africa. And the most horrible parts are in the second paragraph. Read this:
1. "Christian missionary activities, alludes to the fact that there were Africans among the first century Christians" Is that what makes Christianity African? Were they Christians before they became (or joined the) missionaries?
2. "Church history, authored by secular historians, also admits that there were Africans among the first century Christians". So, these were the early converts or they were in Africa before the birth of Christ?
3. "The gospel accounts provides us with evidence that the man, who was called to assist Christ to continue the journey to Calvary was Simon of Cyrene, an African" Oh, and that was before Christianity came to Africa?" I bet there was African called Simon before the birth of Christ.
4. "It must be stated that the relationship between Africans and the Judeo-Christian culture dates back to the pre-Christian days" So, there were Christians in the world before Christianity?
5. "Africa has always been the place God used to redeem His chosen people, the Israelites, from extinction" Which God? the Christian God or the God of the pre-Christianity African?
6. "We should note that most of the historical doctors of Christianity, who formulated the dogmas of the Christian faith, were Africans" Was that before Christianity was brought to Africa? or they were early believers in Christ?
I don't suppose Prempeh is confusing Spirituality with Christianity. Africans, like most other societies in the world, have always been spiritual. They acknowledged a creator they called God (in whatever language). Christianity was man-made and imported to Africa, under the gun. Oh yes, under the gun. I do not have time to give you a full rejoinder but let me point out the contradiction in your own trash. Christianity was brought to Africa and forced on a very spiritual Africa in just the same way homosexuality is being sneaked into Africa today by the same people who told our grandfather their God was better than the one you worshiped, their form of government, a multi-party democracy was better than whatever nameless form of government existed at the time, their clothes, their food, their everything ... you name it. I am a Christian because my parents made me so (and I want to remain so). But to put things in right perspectives, Africa knew the existence of "GOD" - Nyame, Mawu etc - long before Christianity came to Africa. This was GOD their creator. The GODthe believed created them. The foreign belief and concept some Africans accepted at the time and which polluted their own spiritual practice was the acceptance of Christ as their savior and His acceptance as a way of getting back to God.

The comment you have posted is clear how you are completely ignorant about the historicity of Christianity and the Christian church. Of course a good section of Africa was exposed to Christianity in the first century notably the East and North way before the Europeans (beginning from the Greeks and the Romans) decided to adopt the religion. Charles' idea of Africans having had interactions with Judeo-Christian cultures at the very onset and you interpreting it as and I para-phrase 'that he meant those characters he mentioned had experience of being Christians before the inception of Christianity shows your lack of understanding of the Christian Faith.
Christianity which is the true embodiment of the plan of salvation existed at the very onset of creation, the creation event and subsequent practices after the 'Fall' all pointed to the incarnation of Christ so in effect the Hebrew nation existed to expose Christianity and the Universal creator whom you referred to as the Africans called Supreme being to the rest of the world, to all peoples and tribes which they pathetically failed.
The then Africans - Ethiopians, Nubians and Kushites and even later centuries Egyptians after their imperial powers waned who embraced Christianity after Christ saw the truthfulness in the revelation of the Gospels as being inspired by the same Supreme Being creator their forefathers have erroneously worshiped in diverse ways. God (Supreme Being) is one and there can be only one way of reaching him and that is what he revealed of himself through Christianity to humankind.
If some evil crooks and mercenaries who have nothing to do with Christianity decided to go on a rampage throughout the world to maim, pillage, rape, extort, kill and subdue other people using Christianity as a front you must please not blame it on Christianity and our Christ, we beg you for our Christ had nothing or continues to have nothing to do with such acts and deeds.
Anyone can claim to be a Christian and that fact alone doesn't necessarily make him/her a Christian. A Christian can only be known by his/her deeds not by words hence those group of Europeans who came to Africa to enslave and colonise, disguising themselves as Christians and justifying their deeds and acts with Christianity were and are not Christians, my brother.

There was every justification for the crusades. The crusades were in reaction to the killing, rape and enslavement of christians as well as the destruction and desecration of churches and christian holy sites by muslims who were burnt on wiping christianity from the surface of the earth. There is nothing wrong with christians fighting for the protection of their lives and properties. The inquisitions, which involved the use of torture to solicit information from suspected muslim spies, were nothing compared to what the Spanish suffered under centuries of muslim occupation. Let's stop demonizing these two events.

The South African Nobel peace laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu says he will never worship a 'homophobic God' and would rather go to hell than find himself in a 'homophobic heaven'.
The retired archbishop said the fight against homophobia in South Africa was similar to the campaign waged against racial apartheid in South Africa.
Archbishop Tutu, 81, was speaking at the launch of the UN's first global campaign to promote gay rights.
Recently Tutu's daughter married her girlfriend under the country's marriage equality laws. These laws were the outcome of a post apartheid constitution ushered in by Nelson Mandela after representation by gay freedom fighters.
Is it not time for Ghana's judiciary to recognise sexual diversity as a human right under Ghana's constitution guaranteeing freedom and justice?
Kofi Anan has been a champion of equal treatment to LGBT staff at the UN.
Ghana's respect for the UN Charter of Human Rights requires reflection by advocates for un-Christian judgement against members of the LGBT community.

Tutu brings more people to Christ because he says Jesus love embraces all humanity, no matter your race, gender identity, sexuality or ethnicity and especially sinners like you. What destroys the message of Jesus love, is hate speech based on a fairy story of Lot's wife turned to a pillar of salt because of her watching Sodom and Gomorrorah being destroyed on account of the townsfolk wanting to screw 2 of God's angels. If you believe that fantasy, then my dear you'll believe anything including the rise of fanatical Islam, whose followers are just as narrow minded literalists like you. There is a special penitance the devil has planned for you. Ooooohhhh

I challenge the writer of this article to provide me with a short list of reference sources from Scholars who have previously linked homosexuality to any Asantehene & the Asante people in either pre or post colonial times.
I have carried out extensive research on Akan and Ashanti History and know this to be pure lies and nonsense.
Every Akan knows the important role that Women and Families play in our culture. Every Akan marries to have children & therefore, homosexuality has played no part whatsoever in our traditions, culture or history.
What this Writer failed to point out is that King Mweng (11) of Buganda, was a young Monarch exiled by the British Government to the Seychelles Islands, shortly before Asaantehene Agyemang Prempeh. This is the only connection that King Mweng (11), of Buganda has with the Asante people. With regards to his alleged homosexuality he was married Monarch who was accused by Western Missionaries of abusing young male servants. I have no interest whatsoever whether this was true or not?
The Writer also failed to point out that while living in exile in the Seychelles Islands, Asantehene Prempeh Agyemang, not only learned to write & speak the English Language he converted to the Christian Religion. The late Professor Adu Boahen researched & published the years that the Ashanti King spent in the Seychelles Islands. Not only did King Agyemang Prempeh convert to the Christian Religion one of his Sons became a Reverend of the Anglican Church in Kumasi. What I have stated above are historical facts that can be easily cross-checked and researched. I again challenge this Writer to provide me with the names of these Scholars that have linked homosexuality to the Asante people or any Ashanti Kings.
I find it unbelievable that a person using an Ashanti Royal Name such as Prempeh could write such nonsense.
With regards to homosexuality you only have to read about Sodom & Gamora, to know that it is wrong in the eyes of God. Homosexuals and Lesbians are products of a heterosexual relationship (Man & Woman). Without this fact they would not have been born. If homosexuality & Lesbianism are natural why can gays & Lesbians not have babies together?
I love women and I love my Family which makes me the same as the majority of other Akan males. Homosexuality has no place in our culture.

I am sure you will major in religion, especially Christianity. But, to become what? You are studying religion to PROMOTE superstition in Africa in the name some primitive barbaric deity called jehovah. Especially in Ghana since you are a Ghanaian who will come back and be ordained to promote and spread the superstition caller salvation.
Yes, underdevelopment has many complex underlying causes. Therefore, it demands thinking, correct thinking and people commited to thinking. It is only through this that Africans can also minimize the tragedies of underdevelopment to become developed.
So we need almost everyone to come on the thinking board.
Yet, what do we see? Religion had crippled African minds. Christianity is NUMBER ONE in crippling the mind and maintaining it that crippled state by spreading the nonsense of a primitive barbaric jehovah who threatens to put people in hell for eternity.
That is what you will essentially come and be doing here in Ghana, or even there in Uganda.m. Yet when they religion led by Christianity is NOW responsible for African's underdevelopment, you are here denying it through a long cover-ups.
Hurry up, come and unveil your church to increase the number of people whose brains will be crippled by that useless book callee bible.
Exactly how one can show love to others by killing his/her son baffles me. Christianity is one stupid religion....that it must indeed take hell to let some people believed in it.
