Did you mention "Nigeria may be the only country in West Africa with a professionally disciplined Armed Forces, when it comes to a strict observation of the proverbial pecking order." Is that based on proven research or mere speculation?
Have you spoken to some of our military offers lately to know the true state of affairs in the military? I know it is without attrition and other command problems.
However, I was privilege to serve with Ecomog in Liberia in the 80's. I can tell you that the casualties our military suffered in the hands of Charles Taylor's NPFL in their quest to take Monrovia was nothing compared to Nigerian deaths.
Of course those days they had some two or three battalions on the field as compared to just one of ours, but the professionalism of our troops was unquestionable those days.
If professional standards have fallen in our military, one can only blame subsequent governments for consistent interference and their politicization of the military. The recent dismissals of recruits that you referred to is one of such cumulative effects of the toll government interference can have on that system.
The politicians tend to forget that those in the military wield arms and mutiny could be disastrous. They must count their blessings that those recruits did not have assess to arms and ammunition.

Okoampa and Bokor never adequately research the material they write on. Okoampa will never take the trouble of speaking to any military officer before firing off his opinions. All he needs is to see something on the Internet on Ghana and straight, he writes an article from memory.
Even now, he's looking through the websites not to inform himself of happenings in Ghana but just so he can have something to write on.
Today, he has four articles each of which could just have been an opinion expressed under the article that gave rise to his opinion.
I don't think he does any other work apart from writing articles for Gweb.

Hmm as for this one,..... you have misfired. if you will, you can go to Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College today. You will find students on course from 16 African countries. Ask them (especially the NIgerians) of their opinion on your assertion. Especially, why their countries choose to send them here. After listening to their candid opinions you can come back with another article.
However,
Truth be told, it is the politicization of the army on the lines of NDC,NPP which is a source of worry. IF THAT IS WHAT YOU TERM UNPROFESSIONAL THEN I AM WITH YOU, because it’s terribly worrisome.
Let me learn you something. In the Army today if your name is Owusu,Osei, Okooama etc, then you are NPP. And names like Kporku, Mezo, Kudalor, Akpatsu etc are automatically NDC. This is rather unfortunate because Mezo and Akpatsu may be Krobo’s or Ada’s. This is what has come to stay. Day in day out, people are pigeon-holed as either NDC or NPP based on their name(s).
The Ga’s. Fante’s, Krobos with krobo sounding names, Wala’s, Dagomba’s, Dargati’s etc don’t have a problem. It’s all about Ewe name, you’re NDC, Akan name, you’re NPP. Is it possible for every Akan to be NDC, and every Ewe, NDC? Can’t people think and decide for themselves no more? How about those from mixed Ewe/Akan Parentage? I guess we’re neither fish nor fowl.
This Pigeon-holing of people as NDC or NPP in the Armed Forces and effects thereof, is what I term unprofessional.
I can confidently say the Armed Forces is professional, albeit a few lapses here and there, but nonetheless, professional.
You realize I did not mention the Ghana Armed Forces as being professional than that of country A or B’s Armed Forces. Because, what would be my criteria for any such broad sweeping assertion? IF only…….. TBC

Ghanaians in general are timid and we sometimes sees it as professionals. None of our public institutions are professionals. Have time and read how all the coup d'etat happened in the country. How can just 100 officers and men match from Tamale or Ho straight to Accra and overthrow a government. It's hurt when we pretend that all is well, our security has been weak since, we are lucky things are stable due to the understanding of the citizens.

Did this son of a bitch ever ask what General Gowan came to learn at the staff college in Ghana? Why would any sensible fella throw his country.under a bus for political reasons? Ask the United Nations about General Erskine or behaviour of Ghanains soldiers in Lebanon. Which African country is better? South African army was built by whitemen, Nigerians probably can boast of equipment which they have bought mostly in account books. During the troubles in Cote d'Ivoire the ivorians had never seen women helicopter pilots, how many African countries have them? So don't you know shame?
