In any civilized democratic country, the Minister of Interior and the Police Chief would have left office by now because they failed miserably in their duties. Immediately after the violence, NDC officials started to propagate that it was a mob fight between NDC and NPP supporters, and the Interior Minister shamefully joined in to say that "violence begets violence". Yet, he forgot that it was his duty through the security forces to investigate the matter thoroughly and tell Ghanaians who did what since arms and thumb-printed ballot papers were confiscated from some people at the crime scene.
These specific crimes or exhibits could have led us to the real criminals and masterminds behind the shootings and stuffing of ballot boxes. Instead, our unprofessional police preferred to toe the line of those in power today, claiming that they were going to prosecute ghosts rather than follow the available leads. In the recent suicide bombing that took place at a mosque in Kuwait, the security officers identified and arrested the owner of the car that took the suicide bomber to the mosque and also arrested the driver. From that point, the investigations led to the masterminds and accomplishes of the heinous crime.
The question Ghanaians are asking is, why didn't our security forces investigate the leads or exhibits that could have lead us to the bigger picture, rather than gloss over them as if they confiscated the AK-47s, cutlasses and thumb-printed ballot papers from the air? Our security forces, like the government including Mr. Woyongo, are trying to generalize the issue and incriminate others in order to bury the truth between Azorka boys and Bolga Bull Boys, blindfold Ghanaians and cover the government's own tracks. Ghanaians deserve better.

I doff my hat to you, Brother Mahmoud. I have read your piece somewhere before, but it never ceases to be quite refreshing with every fresh reading.

It would have been better for all Ghanaians if you had fallen off your chair, Dr. Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe; the fall could have jarred a little sense into the empty head of yours. You're a piece of work that brings shame to hatred and undermine what was once the pinnacle of success in education. A Ghanaian PhD holder by any measure, of late, is not what the fuss is all about; you cheapen the hard work of others who earned it. But then not all PhD's are built the same and apparently they come a dime a dozen in the liberal arts.
If professionalism is tainted by a few or by a few events of miscalculations there will be no professionals left in Ghana's educated elite class. We hear and read rambling rants from Dr. Baah, you Dr. Kwame, Dr. Bawumia and others not to forget the sham of Dr. Busia, J.B. Danquah and others who paved the way for and directives on how to become irrelevant and bitter in civil society. It would have been all worth a fall that could have rearranged some senses for you Dr. Kwame.
