The difference is that the shoes the president is distributing is from the then defunct but resurrected Kumasi shoe factory. Is that not a good idea to support and promote made in Ghana goods and to promote growth of local industry. High quality leather American Sandals and so what? Where is it from. Were they bought from thrift shops or they are truly new sandals? And how much did each cost? Even during sales and from low price shops such as Payless shoes, one pair of sandals could cost as much as $35 excluding tax. 2000 of such sandals would cost $70 000. That would amount to 280 000 gh cedis at a rate of $1 to 4 cedis. While this is no money if you are a high income earner, could you have used that and the more you hope to spend to promote growth of industry in another country to help grow the industry in Ghana? Please let us get serious!
