It is on record that the loan that Mr. Tsatsu Tsikata took from Caisse Centrale now known as Agence Francaise Developpement was GHC 230,000.00.
Meanwhile Tsatsu's GNPC investment in WESTEL yielded US Dollar 100 Million. Ecobank investment yielded 11 Million Dollars, GNPC investment in Total Petroleum yielded 6 Million Dollars.
The agreement for which Tsatsu Tsikata was jailed was signed in 1991 and the law causing financial lost to the state was passed by parliament in 1993. Ghana's 1992 Constitution stated clearly and equivocally that parliament can not pass a law that will take retrospective effect. The Drill ship Discover 3 that Kufuor and Nana Akuffo-Addo sold for 19 Million Ghana Cedis to defray the judgement dept that we are told is now 14 Million dollars was the property of GNPC. At the time that Tsatsu was sentenced by Mrs. Justice Henrietta Aban Valley Farms for which the loan was sought to set up was still in operation and making profit. We were not told by the Kufuor regime and Akuffo-Addo if Valley Farm was then not in position to pay the loan that GNPC guaranteed for it.
Thus the irony of the history of Ghana continue to prove that those who sacrifice for the nation and brought something to her table are always hunted, just as Nkrumah and Tsikata. Those are the facts and Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe should not continue to throw his ignorance around like a rabbis infested rag.
Dr. Sam Jonah the former Chief Executive of Anglogold Ashanti wrote the following about Tsatsu Tsikata "He let in the development of a specific Petroleum Income Tax Law. Beyond this intellectual and professional contribution Tsatsu emerged as a corporate leader - building GNPC itself from the ground up. His vision was sufficiently to attract even hard-nosed oil men to work on Ghana's potential, often with very little reward. However, it is in his identification, recruitment and promotion of laal talents that Tsatsu truly excelled.
He was truly passionate about the capacity of Ghanaian professionals in the sector. Companies and government's that had dealing with GNPC were pressured into funding scholarships and providing or funding attachments for GNPC staff and even staff from related MDAs.
.... GNPC then constructed the most complete database of seismic information about Ghana anywhere in the world. Then through a joint venture with Norwegian state oil company, GNPC seismologists began to reprocess and re-analyse this data using new technology. Tsatsu did not stop with the old data....
