Dictatorship is a POLITICAL system and not an economic system like capitalism, socialism and communism Pol Pot was a dictator .The Soviets made tremendous advancements under socialism .More than when the Czars were in power and practicing capitalism.Fact no nation has advanced since 1945 under capitalism .All have used socialism and mixed economy .No country has ever been a communist State .It is an ideal no society can attain. Your capitalist model USA today practices MIXED economy. It advanced as a capitalist state using slave labor .Do you want to be a slave .2008 American greed and capitalism caused a world collapse of the economic system not the political system .The world is yet to recover from it.But USA used State capital state capital (socialism) to emerge .Massive bailout of Banks and financial institutions and companies GM, Chrysler, Ford .So can we say the capitalist UTOPIA failed. But let us learn from these so we design a model for Africa and Ghana.Nkrumah was doing just that , so let us stop the vilification. The Brits even designed a corporate entity PLC , public limited liability company where the public can invest and be owners. In the long run it is proper leadership ad skilled workers , honest and dedicated and full of patriotism that make the diffence.Panam wa private owned and failed. BOAC was State owned and failed.97% of all new companies fail .Success depends on the factors of leadership, capital, labor , not on the ideologies

P.K. you were all over the place - from Garrett Hardin's Tragedy of the Commons to David Beckham, Tiger Woods, Pol Pot, Russian Nobel Prize winners, Igor Sikorsky. J.K. Rowling to Joseph Proudhon assertions - doing your utmost to prove the inanity of socialism/communism and Kwarteng's take on this ideology.
Meanwhile, you and your opponents don't have any thing of worth to offer Ghana in terms of our nation becoming sustainable & democratic; and that is the problem I'm having with the thrust of this hollow debate.

Hello Mr Ampadu, I honestly believe you are placing the cart before the horse. Do you think I do not have Ghana in my mind when I do this? Let me inform you; this is what keeps me going. There are loads of people who believe in this communist ideology. They call it socialism, and it also goes by the nom de guerre mixed economy. We may haggle over the definition of these terms, but practically it means the government playing a greater part in the creation of wealth that is the bottom line. Some of them are even in government. Since some of you have actually renamed me liar, I will give you one example – Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. He made it loud and clear on Joy News File.
You may be agonising over my reason for doing this; the answer is simple. Ghana Airways was run to the ground due to poor management. It is not unusual, however, every Ghanaian paid for it. I did not contribute much tax in Ghana, but at least I did. It was my tax money that was used in propping up that company until its final demise. Yet, this people don’t learn. I don’t know if you have been following the aviation industry. The current government want to revive the national airline with the nation’s resources. You might say why not. Let me give you one example. The tomato factory in the North was revived not too long ago, and has already stop production again at another cost to the people of Ghana. Instead of them to sell it to a viable operator, because of their own political machination they cannot do it. Just throw your mind back on Nsawam Food Canary that was bought by Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings. That piece of national asset is wasting away. I have written about it so many times in the past. What can I do? I can only write about it a few times, but not all the time. I have written about TOR, I have written about the bad service of Ghana Commercial Bank, which engendered serious respond with even their PR department contacting me. Besides, I have written serious economic articles in the past regarding the poor management of the economy and so many burning current issues when they crop up. There is so much that I can do on that score.
However, this current effort is to redress one of the main causes of the problems we face. The problem is too much meddling of the government in the economy. That is where the tentacles of corruption rear its ugly face. The government awards road contracts, and by the time the contract gets to the actual contractor about 30% of the monetary value has been passed around in brown envelops. The contractor embarks on the contract with insufficient resources, and he constructs a shoddy road. A road that is supposed to last for ten years only endures for just four years, and we have to spend money to do it again. Projects like road it is very difficult to take it away from the government. Though it is possible, it is close to impossibility in Ghana. Quite recently, it was reported that Ghana is to buy 5 Combat Aircrafts in Brazil. I can assure you if that deal goes through there are a lot of brown envelops that will change hands. Of course, it is the military; there is nothing that can be done about it. But we can stop the mess that TOR is causing the economy if it is sold to private operators, instead of it being managed by the government.
My effort is to have few areas for our government officials to be corrupt. Don’t think that it is only Ghanaian politicians who are corrupt. Here in Britain, the politicians are corrupt, but it manifest in benign ways that does not actually throttle the economy so much. Until we have the belief that it is the government responsibility to provide jobs our problems will continue. The current problem with our currency is cost of keeping up the around 600,000 government employees. If that number is even reduced by 25% much of our problems will be solved overnight. But nobody in government will ever contemplate that, because they think it is the government responsibility to provide jobs. If that is the case why not provide for all the millions unemployed in the country by creating the jobs if it is that easy. The depreciation of the currency is the greatest threat to the security of the country, but our politicians do not have the guts to tackle the problem from its roots. I am certain this will not satisfy you, but thanks anyway.

Thank you Mr. Baidoo Jnr. for taking time to address my concern, and for your service to make our nation work better.
My plea was for you to show evidence of sustainability in your efforts to make Ghana work better. Maybe we need to agree on the term sustainability; which to me implies the three pillars of sustainability: social, environmental, & economic sustainability.
The principle of the three pillars of sustainability says that for the complete sustainability problem to be solved all three pillars of sustainability must be sustainable.
In Ghana, we are nowhere near reaching sustainability because we don't know how to make all three pillars of sustainability work.
My frustration with you, the Nkrumahists & the Danquaists is that our conversations should be about achieving sustainability for Ghana and nothing else.

Philip Kwabena Baiddo has for sometime now been depriving logic of motion, in that he has placed it on its head, a dangerous position that Karl Marx displaced it from. Karl Marx wrote that philosophers before him placed logic on its head, thus depriving it of motion. He thus gave logic legs to motion. Karl Marx in his "Poverty of Philosophy" wrote that the deprived and precarious position of workers is not as a result of their poor philosophy, but because of their socioeconomic position. Proudhorn on the other hand in his "Philosophy of Poverty" wrote that workers are poor as a result of their world outlook and not as a result of the socioeconomic position in which they find themselves as wage slaves.
Before one talks about the inability of a child to grow both in physically and intellectually one can not do that in a vacuum, but compare him with children of his or her age living in another house.
Philip Kwabena Baidoo your assumption is that socialism is not a progressive socioeconomic system and that countries under the socialist socioeconomic system has not made progress as compared to the capitalist ones. In the Caribbean Cuba is the only socialist country and the fact is that it has made a lot of progress in socioeconomic and technological development and even in some aspects of human endeavour suppers the United States and others in American continent that still apply sanction against her since 1962. China and India got independence the same year, but China because of her scientific socialist system has made a lot of socioeconomic progress, and even abolished the caste system which still exists in India.
Analysis of socioeconomic systems are based on objectivity and not subjectivity. It is also a fact that though workers in other parts of the world are paid less compared to their counterparts in the U.S. most of them have a better living condition than those in the U.S. or Britain.

What Kwame did was to expose his ignorance and nothing else. Open the doors of America to the Cubans and see if there will be anyone left on that Island. Don't expose yourself; that was pure ignorance.
