No need for any extension to 5 years. The presidency cannot be a monarchy. You do good job for your 4 year term and the good* people*will renew your mandate for another 4-year term. By good people I don't mean people who vote without using their head as we see in Trokosiland where 99.9 percentage votes of ethnic Trokosis is always assured for the criminal NDC organization. If all Ghanaians can emulate the voting partern of Gas, and Fantis( and by extension, Akans) who allow objectivity play central role in their quest to choose leaders for the nation, our knee jerking democracy would certainly thrive.

"What this means is that either the wrong characters are gunning for the presidency in Ghana, or there is something genetically remiss with the entire Ghanaian citizenry to make us keep electing the wrong people to manage our national affairs."
Well, it is both!
But the fact remains that if you select at random 100 prospective leaders for the presidency right now in Ghana, the probability that any of them would perform close to the desirable is close to zero.
Start by making a tally of all Ghanaians in different professional terrains including those having "Prof." appended to their names, and tell me who has done well to merit applause. You'd find none. NOT ONE.
1. We have never have anything meaningful coming from the Scientific community which remains forever a complete leech and albatros the country can't get off its back. The best they do in Ghana is hurl their diplomas in front of others, not only for big paychecks, but also as glisttering form of pride and bully. In event, the state just wasted resources educating them in the west.
They shout on top of their voices denoucing lack of finance for researches when, as I always contested, God didn't shower money on their counterparts in the West.
2. The politicians are the most clueless. Listening to them talk and you regret being a Ghanaian. Not only do they not have any iota of intelligence in them apart from being in their own weird way the most big-mouthed leeches. They constitute for the major part, the laziest a country could produce, and it is a total waste to comtemplate them in very boisterous circumstances.
3. Doctors complain of not being well-paid, and though I would grant them that, they are, like others, rote learners who never profit from their education; they know how to pass examinations and qualify for their diplomas, then there is the full stop. They are uninspiring, they lack motivation, they are not creative... If you have a relative under operation, the probability the person would pass on later on is very high, hence the fact that all politicians go to the West for medical treatment.
4. The Ghana Police has absolutely no credibility, no ethics, no working strategy. Having corruption encoded in their genes, they can't function at all without asking for bribes as if they have problems more than anyone else.
5. There is no judiciary in Ghana. Show me just one lawyer who has never taken bribe in Ghana! I can't remember in the history of the country, a case well tried and deemed credible; maybe Akufo-Addo's pink sheet case against Mahama.
And you think we have a country?

Unless we have a strong judiciary and law-enforcement institutions backing a sitting president, we can have even Jesus, nothing will happen, even with 100 years presidential term.

But alas, you resurrect and stab Kufour in the side while taking a swipe at your uncle Atukwei. But unlike was done for Joe Dimaggio, we never turned our "lonely eyes to you".

You could have disagreed with him without the unnecessary digs about his profession.
