Card-carrying CPP members of today are not succeeding in Ghana politics because they fail to remind Ghanaians, old and young, on and about the failed promises at the root of the 1966 coup even if far removed from tribal zealotry of the times.
Ghana has not changed because the nation is awash with classroom educated tribal zealots who, like Hitler's scientists, choose to use their education to misinform a rather gullible foot soldiers of the tribal and party zealotry kind. The people who have allowed democracy to become a slogan in Ghana will not give up the benefits they currently derive from a dumb society of this delusional democratic freedoms of the Ghana kind without a fight to the end. The NPP and NDC parties are not going to give up their dominance because they both know that democracy at its core has no societal moral mandates, expectations or obligations; it requires an educated citizenry to ensure success but no principled moral core or stance. It is in this sphere critics of Nkrumah and the CPP can steal, mismanage and use government authority to confiscate private assets and continue to have their supporters believe there is progress because of individual wealth accumulation by foul means. It is not coincidence that the only prosperous democracies of the world who used slave labor of the racial type also acquired mineral and natural along with human resources from poor nations do maintained their premier status in the world of democratic governance. Why have no other nation that has attempted to practice known democratic values succeeded to be anywhere near perceived successes? But in all of the old and new democratic adaptations the very tiny minority that dominate in societal wealth influences laws and rules of human behavior for all. The minority with power and influence are certainly not the most educated in society but are good at the practice of deception, obfuscation and threats over those who work for them. The Ghana of today, lacking in development while inching slowly towards a few with all the assets of the nation is where advocates of Ghana brand democracy want; CPP folks must wake up from their laxidasical approach to Ghana politics. You cannot fight nice with those who thrive on evil and selfishness.
