Good effort, although rather anachronistic at a time of great democratic upheavals on the African continent as exemplified by the beauty of the democratic dispensation in nearby Nigeria.
In times such as these, the arrant dictatorship of Nkrumah is thrown into sharp relief by those noble ones who graciously ceded power upon the vote of the masses; those leaders who took no political prisoners; those who established no one-party state nor dismiss those who returned a verdict against their awesome powers........
But with arrant devotees such as Prof. Francis Kwarteng, those endowed with the democratic spirit will always be reminded that the dark days of extreme dictatorship still lurks in the corner and has some intellectual credence in fertile albeit doctrinally infected minds like that of the good Prof.
That is why we must never cede any grounds to the Oppressor's acolytes. We must always adhere strictly to the salutary teachings of Osagyefo Dr. J.B. Danquah, the great doyen of African democracy, and remain solid in the defense of our democratic government. The price of our freedom and liberty is eternal vigilance against the malignant cancer of the Nkrumaists. In this, we must remain strong and adamant that the Nkrumaists agents, their assigns and descendants NEVER taste power again on the motherland!

Dr. SAS been in socioeconomic thrall of another is not democracy. If that is what democracy connotes, then U.S. should have still been a colony of Britain. It is a fact that anyone who refuses to be a doll for western imperialism is regarded by them as a dictator. Dr. SAS yours is not a serious intellectual exposition because the dependence on others both economically and socially is not a democracy. How can a person and nation that does not have self determination and is controlled by others from outside said to be a democratic state. To you the best housewife is one who always to to the kitchen of another to cut her things for the pot because to her owning a knife in your kitchen is not democratic, thus you must depend on somebody and dependance is democracy.

READ: "...But what did Busia and his client...(NLM), and succeeding generations of Ghanaian leadership do? They liquidated some of these companies by allowing them to rot at the suggestion of the IMF/World Bank; sold the remainder to themselves, family members, cronies, and Western multinational companies. As the facts reveal Nkrumah built factories and industries because he clearly understood the science and economic science of value-adding, knowing full well that Africa had no voice in the higher decisional echelons of commodity markets..."

the US and other imperialist hawks could tolerate the intolerance of Lee because of the geopolitical interests of the powers that be.In Africa Nkrumah was a trailblazer who wanted to prove that the blackman afterall is equal to the task of managing his own affairs. This mission cuts across all other interests to imperialism which maintains up to date that the blackman made a mistake in fighting for his independence.
Nkrumah never dies!

Backward never!!!

Dear Readers,
The SECOND SENTENCE OF THE last but three paragraph should BEGIN with GENERAL ANKRAH (NOT "HIS"):
"Granted, it was not for nothing that Amilcar Cabral called Nkrumah “a strategic genius.” GENERAL ANKRAH statement that Nkrumah’s “place in African history is assured” is misleading and misplaced. In fact, his failure to rise above his intellectual, emotional, and political limitations in assessing the far-reaching achievements and scientific implications of Nkrumah’s ideas for Africa’s technological, politico-economic, and industrial development, self-determination..."
The "HIS" gives the wrong impression that I was referring to AMILCAR CABRAL.
In summary, it was actually General Ankrah who said "Nkrumah's place in African history was assured." NOT AMILCAR CABRAL!
Thanks.

Very brilliant from my friend, Francis Kwarteng. I've no illusions about Nkrumah's prophetic vision for Ghana and Africa's political and economic emancipation. His only shortcoming was his inability to build consensus with his colleagues and adversaries. He was not a negotiator. It had to be his way or the highway. If Iran and the world's major political and economic powers could sit and negotiate a deal about Iran's nuclear program and sanctions, one is left to wonder why Nkrumah missed the same opportunity over fifty years ago. Even if we had taken a piecemeal approach 50 years ago Africa would have seen tremendous progress than what we're seeing today. I urge African leaders to give serious thought to Nkrumah's vision because it's very realistic and pragmatic for today and very futuristic. It can be done without the socialist political agenda. Thank you.

Yes, we can sometimes agree to disagree. At least we agree on some fine points about Nkrumah and his larger vision for Africa.
But let us not forget that socialism is still part of the political framework of some of the world's most powerful economies: the Nordic Model, Beijing Consensus (China Model), and the Washington Consensus.
You will have to closely study the policies of the Democrats (USA) to understand what I am saying. I have dealt with this very question in some painstaking detail in one of my essays.
Please do make time to look at the Asian Tigers. It is not always about free market capitalism. Neither is free market ideas the province of capitalism. Again, take a look at Asian economies (and those of South America, Canada, New Zealand, France, etc).
Thanks.
