It is the NPP which vowed to make the NDC Government unpopular and ungovernable because it's leader is not an AKAN, NPP Called our constitutionally elected president, JOHN MAHAMA, 'pepeni' and according to the NPP, he is unfit to rule AKANS.
This illiterate bush rat of an author perhaps has nothing proper to offer Ghanaians so I will advise him/her to look back into his own NPP leadership and look for the proper ethnocentric OSAFO MARFOS if he understands what he has put up here.
NDC government appointments is fairly distributed without any ethnocentrism in mind. In fact NDC government has not asked for the removal of any immigration top official as the NPP DID to Ghanaians when in Power removing non-akans and replacing them with AKANS.

NDC preaching anti Akan hum! NDC learnt from the NPP. Right after the overthrow of Nkrumah the NPP went on anti Nigerian agenda and it all started from there. To wrestle power from dictator Rawlings the NPP did all it could in its power to preach so much hatred and fear of Ewes even to their kids all to no avail.

Our sense has been that the NPP did not do enough in this area - bring Ghanaians together - when they were in the seat.
From this AFAG reported data/story, it is increasingly becoming obvious that the NDC is doing even worse.

AFAG, your article is disingenuous as it is dangerous! It's not supported by facts, i.e., by statistics, for example, yet it may unnecessarily and unfortunately rouse people's emotions. It's this kind of senseless articles, rooted in deep ethnocentrism, that ultimately lead to civil wars. We've seen it all over Africa, the most recent being those of Rwanda, Ivory Coast and Uganda.
You've posed the question: "is it not a fact that over 80% of state departments and agencies are headed by persons from either the Volta or Northern regions?" Then you've gone on to list a number of state departments and agencies without giving the specific names of the individuals concerned and giving their ethnicities, while concluding that they're non-Akans because they're from the North and the Volta Regions. What about the large concentration of Akans and the numerous other non-Ewes in the Volta Region? Is the Volta Region synonymous with non-Akans?
And what're the sources of your claims?
AFAG, you should be reminded of the fact that if there's any one particular ethnic group in Ghana that has been hated and so insulted, villified and discriminated against, it's the Ewes. And who're the greatest culprits in this? The Asantes, who're vociferous in ignorantly pointing out that the Ewes are Number 9, meaning they're not Ghanaians, even when about 50% of the Ewe population in Ghana had been Gold Coasters long before Asantes were annexed (only in 1902) to the Gold Coast Colony and the Northern Territories were incorporated in 1899!
A classic example of how the Ewes are discriminated against in Ghana was Prime Minister Busia's Apollo 568 act which dismissed 568 civil and public services employees soon upon his assumption of the premiership in 1969, the majority of whom were Ewes and Gas, on the flimsy excuse of being incompetent. One Ewe man, Sallah, a GNTC manager who had just then been promoted for his meritorious service, challenged Busia and his administration at the Supreme Court and the court unanimously ruled in his favour. Then Busia appeared on public TV and condemned the court's ruling, declaring like a demi-god that no court could tell him what to do.
This unfortunate example was repeated by President Kufuor when he also assumed the reins of governance in 2000. He likewise dismissed a large number of civil and public services employees and those of the Ghana armed forces and, again, the majority were Ewes.
Furthermore, during the Kufuor administration, most of his appointees were Asantes. As for Ewes, they weren't just recruited! When the president was confronted about his favouritsm of the Asantes, he responded that they predominantly voted for him and therefore it was appropriate for him to appoint them more than others.
AFAG, you write about discrimination against Akans in terms of recruitment and promotion to senior positions in the Ghana Police Service. What you've seemingly conveniently ignored is that it was an Akan, Prof. Atta Mills, who retired the then Inspector-General of Police, an Asante man, and his deputy, another Akan, when he succeeded Kufuor as president? Why? It was under their watch in 2006 that the 77 parcels of cocaine disappeared from the Ghana Police Headquarters, some of which were later shamefully traced to the Asantehene's Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Now, when you write of the alleged non-promotion of Akans in the Ghana Police Service, have you taken into account the fact that promotion is based on merit? Until one shows how promotion in the Service is effected, one can't simply jump to the conclusion, as you've done here, that Akans are discriminated against in recruitment and promotion.
In this connection, I draw your attention to the fact that from the pre-colonial and post-colonial times until the Acheampong regime, promotions in both the military and the police services were based solely and exclusively on merit. Consequently, Ewes were non-proportionally represented. Then the Acheampong administration adopted the quota system as a policy for recruitment into the services.
So AFAG, when you complain so bitterly about discrimination against the Akans, these are some of the factors you must take into account before you can convince intelligent people of the validity of your complaint. Unfortunately, as is often the case, it's the ignorant who tend to quickly jump on your kind of band wagon and cause the kind of havoc that your article is apparently designed to create.

You are inferring that when it was on merit Ewes were outperforming other tribes. That is as odious as it is reprehensible and extremely ethnocentric. I went to some of the best schools in Ghana and also Legon and nowhere is your assertion borne out by the facts. What is a fact is when an Ewe is made the head of an institution, that institution becomes an Ewe enclave. Go to National Investment Bank right now since they made an Ewe the MD., and you will see exactly what I am referring to. The bank is now Ewes only apply. It is a joke that if you go to NIB and you are looking for Dela say, you'll have to indicate if you want Dela1, Dela2, Dela3, Dela4 or Dela5.
This is a well known fact. I can cite many examples. Go to customs and the list goes on. So don't come on here and spew this spurious Ewe academic excellence which is pure balderdash.

I stayed and worked for 15 years before finally leaving in 2000. In this country no group of people have hounded Ewhes more than Akan lead political parties. In 1969 Kofi Abrefa Busia started the hounding even before he became the prime minister and when he got the opportunity present itself he dismissed 568 Ewhes from both civil and public service. When John Agyekum Kufuor became the president in 2001 he dismissed scores of Ewhes from both civil and public service and imprisoned some of them. Thus members of the NPP should not be howling for the arrest of the thief when the thief is the one the howling is coming from.

Lets be serious people. As a kid growing up partially in Nima Maamobi in the late 80s to the eary 90s I remembered vivdly that Akans were not particularly interested in the Police and the Army because at that time, the rewards in those services were nothing home to write about.
The Akans either wanted to travel or trade where the cash reards were better. Almost all those police officers who came after criminals in our areas as i remembered were almost always baring Ewe or Northern names. They went after the tough criminals. And i heard some of them were in the army since the Acheampong era. Some of the big Northners and Ewes that were in the army when KU4 took over were in the army and the police before the rawlinsg coup.
Akans only only started taking interest in the Army when the army started going on international missions and earning foreign currency. By the many of the Nothners and Ewes who were in longer were already in senior positions.
So please when we complain today lets just go back and do some sdmall research instead of acting on emotions alone.

Since independence, Northerners have enjoyed free education to tertially levels paid for by mostly the southern Tax Payers. Most of them now including the current President ,have been travelling to Moslem Countries and they are wrongly advised. We Ghanaians are persieved by Muslims as Western orientated. They want us to be having the same unstable lives as them but there are a Muslim Minority in our country so it has not been easy for them to manipulate with their kind of Politico- Economic investments. If we have to develope, we do not need all these investments with attached agenda. We are blessed with our God given natural resources and so they should not go and borrow moneys for nonsense projects but to concentrate on their jobs. If those appointed are qualified, it does not matter if they are from the North or Volta, they Ghanaians , first of all.
