There is a fracas going on between Sunnis (majority) and Shias(minority) Moslems. This conflict have been fought over many years as to who is the right successor of Mohammed. So the split among Muslims originates in a dispute soon after the death of the Prophet Muhammad over who should lead the Muslim community.
Now it seems that the Arabs (Saudi Arabian) and Persian (Iran) conflicts is being exported to Africa and fought on our backs like the Christians did in the 15th century. We shall never allow this to happen. Never again, over our dead bodies.
In early Islamic history the Shia were a political faction - literally "Shiat Ali" or the party of Ali.
The Shia claimed the right of Ali, the son-in-law of the Prophet Muhammad, and his descendants to lead the Islamic community. Ali was killed as a result of intrigues, violence and civil wars which marred his caliphate. His sons, Hassan and Hussein, were denied what they thought was their legitimate right of accession to caliphate. Both Hassan and Hussien were later also killed in similar fashion. These events gave rise to the Shia concept of martyrdom and the rituals of grieving.
Shia Muslims are in the majority in Iran, Iraq, Bahrain, Azerbaijan and, according to some estimates, Yemen.
Africa has witnessed over the last decade such conflicts in Somialia (Al Shabab), Mali (AL Qaeda Tuareg rebels),Libya( ISIS and AL Qaeda), Nigerian (Boko Haram) all trying to create a caliphate of their own. Ghanaians/Africans cannot afford to fight such ancient schism again. Ghanaians/Africans were held back due the cold war where ideological conflict of east and west balkanized Africa into capitalist and socialist camps up until 1989. Hardly have we gotten out of this iron curtain conflict the Arabs and Persians are exporting their religious conflict on African soil. It is time Africans thought of our own progress and do away with any ideology that holds us back be theocracy or demo(n)cracy. When will Ghanaians/Africans think of our welfare and interest first? It is time we part ways with all who hold us back.
So Shaban you will have to write about the ideological conflict and identity crisis facing or existing within the Muslim community and the way the Shia minority are mistreated in parts of the Arab world where Shias are in most cases the poorest. There are large Shia communities in Afghanistan, India, Kuwait, Lebanon, Pakistan, Qatar, Syria, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
The shared faith among Sunnis and Shias is considered a strong bond, but there is often conflict. There are also variations in the way different groups practise their faith. The differences lie in the fields of doctrine, ritual, law, theology and religious organisation.
Their leaders also often seem to be in competition. From Lebanon and Syria to Iraq and Pakistan, many recent conflicts have emphasised the sectarian divide, tearing communities apart.
Shaban, you don’t have to satirically ridicule the POPE to make your point but rather mind your own business within the moderate and radical Moslems.
Becoming a Muslim involves saying the Shahada: "I bear witness that there is no God but Allah, I bear witness that Muhammad is the prophet of God."
Now with the above in mind you cannot send your ward to a Mission School and demand that their Ethos which is based on Christianity should make way for the Shahada. Under which rock are you living?
Look Shaban you forgot the salient part of our constitution which states that your freedom should not infringe upon the freedom of others. I cannot come into your house or mosque and tell you from this day forward my word goes around. period! Please stop polarizing the Christian and Muslim communities against each other in Ghana. It bears mentioning that the peaceful coexistence of Christians and Muslim is remarkable and envy of many. It should stay that way. Saudi Arabia is an oppressive state, as is Iran, and the whole score of those so-called islamic states, or wannabees.
Our approach is, a secular Constitution requires strict separation of Church and State. That was the Nkrumah principle - and it has served Ghana very well. That is the essence of a Unitary Government.
Religion ought to be a private matter. The public should not invest in these things, not even as much as pay the salaries of teachers in a "religious" school, whatever you call them.

I have been told according to your quran there is no compulsion in religion. I know you would not write because the same quran commands muslims to be killed if they decide to quit islam. The prophet who received the revelation that says let there be no compulsion in religion is reported to have said he has been commanded to fight the disbelievers until they say that there is no god but allah and that Mohammed is his messenger.
I know there are a few islamic denominations with very few members who have tried to explain away the intolerance the your scriptures advocate albeit unsuccessful. Perhaps the freedom fighter that you have become, if you join forces with them, you may help prevent the islamic massacre that is sweeping across the globe.
We now know that muslims have voices except that they have often chosen to remain silent and pretend nothing is happening when their brothers who take the religion very seriously go about killing others. It is just that the lives of infidels do not matter to them for them to be bordered.
