WE HAVE LIVED TOGETHER PEACEFULLY UNTIL THE USELESS NDC PARTY WAS FORMED. A PARTY OF POOR LOOKING FOR RICHES OVERNIGHT. THEY WILL DO ANYTHING TO WIN POWER.
''We have been vice presidents for far too long, it is time you make ONE OF YOUR OWN President.'' - John Mahama.
WHAT ARE THE REST OF US TO JOHN MAHAMA?
WE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEM.
THE USELESS NDC PARTY IS TURNING ONE TRIBE AGAINST ANOTHER
TURNING ONE RELIGION AGAINST ANOTHER
THERE WAS EVEN AN ATTEMPT BY ATTA MILLS TO poison football clubs with politics just for the SELFISH INTEREST of the USELESS NDC PARTY.
Everything that unites us as a peaceful nation is under attack by the USELESS NDC PARTY. Before they divide Ghana and leave us in shreds VOTE THE USELESS NDC PARTY OUT IN 2016.
We have lived peacefully without any TRIBAL OR RELIGIOUS POLITICS before the USELESS NDC PARTY WAS FORMED and their manifesto signed with blood. We don't need any division in Ghana. WE ARE INTER-MARRIED, AND WE ARE ONE PEOPLE. NDC IS DANGEROUS, VOTE THEM OUT IN 2016.

Islam cannot survive without political/government intervention. That is how feeble and cheap that religion is.
Muslims want Ghana government to sponsor Hajj operations. Muslims always want government to build their mosques for them. This happened in Bolga in 2009 when the Muslims there threatened Mark Woyongo to build their mosque for them because they claim the NDC used muslim votes to come to power. In year 2000, the muslim community in Ghana threatened mayhem if the Ghana Statistical Service does not massage census figures to make Muslims look majority in Ghana. The question then is, is the Muslim god so feeble and cheap that he always wants government assistance to survive.

SAS, you have made some salient points for the mission side of the argument, but I think from some of the pronouncement from the president and government; and the politics involved I doubt if the mission is going to win their case. Mahama said what he said because he does not want to lose his support from the North, where quite a large number of the voters is Moslem; the same reason why the government gets involved in hajj arrangements etc.
I posted earlier that religious freedom is not as simple as commanding head of schools to allow other students to be excused from worship, or change the uniform but also the government’s encroachment of the religious space of the mission schools, which means a loss of religious freedom on the side of the mission. I cited an example of Brigham Young, a Mormon school which accepts non-Mormons but lets them sign before acceptance to abide by the school's religious code. Most parochial schools in the US have strict dress codes which students of all religious backgrounds have to adhere to. This is not a problem for Muslims and others because there are other equally good Muslim and public schools that they can go to. What makes Ghana’s case a bit tricky is the funding of the schools by GES but from your article if accurate, it seems the agreement was not to interfere with the religious aspect of the school, so the government should abide by it. But I doubt if Mahama’s earlier order would change, and that is why the president should have waited for all stake holders meeting and a consensus from the court before making a public statement.

It will interest Ghanians to know that Christians have more MPs in the north(Upper East+ Upper West+Northern Regions). In relative terms Christian MPs constitute 54% and in absolute terms there are 31 Christian MPs out of a total of 57 Mps from the North. This is contrary to the notion that northerners are Muslims.

I don't have any stats to support what I said about the numbers of the Muslim faith in the North, it was just based on perception, since it seems the folks I know who are Muslims come from the North though they live in Accra. But I think it may be a true statement that most Muslims vote for the NDC rather than the opposition parties but I stand to be corrected.

It is said that Muslims are minority in Ghana but when you go to prisons across Ghana they are in the majority. If we allow Muslims to have their way they will turn this peaceful nation of ours into an open prison.

Mahama(a Gonja) is following the prescriptions of OIC.You remember a Muslim MP from Gonjaland declared that adulterous women should be stoned to death. Again Boko Haram in Akyem terrorized Muslim women for buying food from Christians yet the IGP(a Gonja Muslim) kept mute. Muslims burnt down a Christian mission house in Atebubu yet the IGP was again silent. AMA banning churches in classrooms, Northern Regional Minister accusing the Christian clergy of encouraging politicians to be corrupt. These are all plans aimed at suppressing Christianity to please the OIC. These are all indicators that Mahama is feverishly handing over Ghana to the Organisation of Islamic Countries for Money. We should remember Islam is useless without direct state support and so Mahama is providing that support to Muslims to grow in Ghana whilst at the same time suppressing Christians.

Let's get this straight to avert further confusion and unnecessary antagonist feelings between our religious sects.
First of all I see three types of educational institutions offering education to our young ones - public institutions i.e. the government schools, parochial institutions i.e. the mission schools, and private institutions. We do not have Charter schools and home institutions yet.
The current confusion gradually creeping into our education system can be traced to how historically we have undertaken the teaching of our young people, and how we have funded education.
I am proposing that we radically change how we go about imparting "what knowledge is worth knowing" to our children.
The public schools should be funded largely by the government, and should be regulated by GES, the parochial schools that is the mission schools should be funded largely by Faith-based organizations although they will receive some funding from the govt., and be regulated by FES - Faith-based Educational Services. Part of their mission will be to write grants to solicit funding. And rely on funding from Christian associations and Muslim organizations.
The Private schools will also be entitled to some funding. When we institute Charter
schools, created by teachers, parents and community members who feel the need to set up their own schools, their certification and continual assistance by the government will depend on how well they perform. If they fail to perform the lose their charter.
Then there are parents who decide to teach their children at home, after showing proof of how they intend to do this.
We need to have more choices in how we teach our young ones.

Usman, get a translated Quran and read. The sura u quotedted in clearly incorrect.Let me quote it verbatim.Quran 61:10-O you who believe!Shall I guide you to a trade that will save you from a painful torment? 61:11 That you believe in Allah and His Messenger(Mohammad s.a.w) and that you strive hard and fight in the cause of Allah with your wealth and your lives:that will be better for you,if you but know! 61:12 (If you do so) He will forgive you your sins, and admit you into Gardens under which rivers flow, and pleasant dwelling in paradise;that is indeed the great success.
Where in these has God said what u said?Stop misquoting and get your records set.
U can't compare the bible with the Qur'an.The bible has gone through series of changes and repairs by human beings.Human beings editing God.How many times has the bible been revised? Paul and his pagan kings mutilated the bible and till date many things keep on being changed just to stand the test of time.Every household with its different versions of the bible.

Muslims should use Mecca money to build good schools for their children. Those against missionary schools should rather advice the government to stop the Makaranta form of education since it is a breeding ground for raising terrorists. Why do they envy Christians. Is it because christians have chosen to invest in formal education and Muslims have rather chosen to invest heavily in tourism to Mecca? Stop the nonsense. This is the attitude that collapsed secondary education in Nigeria. In Nigeria today good secondary schools are found in Christian dominated states like Kwara,Plateau, Edo, Ondo, Ekiti,Lagos, etc. Any other good school you see is either owned by religious bodies or private individuals. This came about due to this same agitations about Muslim rights in missionary schools which forced some state governors to confiscate all missionary schools within their domains and renamed them after Muslim leaders. Today those schools are pale shadows of themselves.
