I hope the other rights you have kick started does not include the introduction of sharia law which is the only law by which muslims must be governed; because sharia law does not promote the religious freedom you claim to be fighting for?
Missionary schools should be handed over to their respective owners immediately to curtail the evil desires of these blood thirsty bigots. That seem to be the only solution to this problem started by Mahama and his power thirsty friends who wanted to score a very cheap political point by indirectly encouraging muslim agitations which eventually will lead to terrorism.

You are surely not Atongo but let me also add that children will end up not admitted for the militant behavior or even be withdrawn for as you will be seen to be disobedient to the authorities.Your rights too end where others' start and sharia or Islamic law can not work in Ghana so as you fight for your constitutional rights,be mindful. Bear in mind that, it is tact not arrogance as we see in the student leadership that will win people to your course. We all want to go to heaven anyway. It is just the matter of paths.

My dear brother , I am sadden to know that with the level of your education, you are among the moslem puppets who buy into this perception that moslems in Ghana have " CHARACTER ISSUES” . I will be your slave if you are able to outline 5 such characters with concrete evidence in your response. The problem with some of our so-called muslim scholars or leaders is LAZINESS. They sit in their homes to be fed with information, they don’t go out to do comprehensive research or acquaint themselves with these neighbourhood to get a first hand information of what is exactly is going on. Character Isuues..Are you kidding me? Are muslim in Ghana not VICTIMS of the way the countries wealth is being distributed? I want you to come again…maybe I didn’t get you well
A week before the election 2012, Umoru Sanda (Ex-Imam of the Ghana Armed Forces ) stood at a sermon on Friday to say that, Intelligence has it that , to have a successful, free and fair election , Muslim youth have to be CONTAINED . In other words, without the cooperation of muslem youth, disaster will strike on election day. I am still looking for this untrustworthy moran, morally corrupt to ask him if it where the muslim youth who delayed the announcement of the election for almost a year or if it where the muslim youth who caused commotion at ablekuma south and all the other polling stations where there where reports of disturbances. Was he given those Intelligence? It baffles me how a learned man like Sanda will easily buys into this CHARACTER ASSASINATION…..
On the other hand, I applaud your way of approach to issues like this when they come up with the authorities and would like to see all the Arabic schools turn into full blown English schools ( control by government as in some of the mission schools) of course with Arabic as a optional language cause.
God bless the youth of Ghana

The guy have raised issues like diplomacy and stakeholder meetings as options we can pursue and you are there blabbing. Shaban I like your piece for one thing, the part that talks about uniformity and orderliness in schools. Keep up broh.

This is what you wrote "the hijab is an important first step and trigger. It can make or break a long walk to assert rights that we have hitherto not exercised. The bigger picture however is recognition of religious freedom".
You are misguided or deluded to believe that "the right to religious freedom" is absolute. No, it is a qualified right that can be restricted, controlled and managed to stop fundamentalism and extremism. Ghana will not allow slow slippery to religious or Islamic fundamentalism under the guise of the right or freedom to practice your form of Islam.
I sent an article to Ghanaweb on this subject yesterday but it's not posted and talked about a bigger agenda by few fundamentalists such as you. You should read it when it's posted, probably tomorrow or Tuesday.

Abdur, on your point: Refusal of Muslim Adults to Veil.
You stated, "I decided so because I fail to understand why a female doctor can wear her hijab to practice but a Muslim nurse is barred so to do. Annoyingly yet, at the critical stage of surgery, you see the entire team having their heads covered."
First of all, any school, organisation and institution has the right to decide its own uniform rules. Therefore, that Hospital/Health Administration you feel so aggrieved about have their discretion to impose their own dress codes.
And what you so feel annoyed about and see as ironical is down to your wilful ignorance. Are you implying that Islamic/Muslim clothing equals Surgical clothing and face masks worn during surgical operations? By the way, those surgical clothing and face masks are sterilised and probably used once, whereas the hijab and niqab and burka are not.
Personally, the problem I have with this article is that it appears you want society to accept your Islamic principles but at the same time you people don't want to conform to the Christian principles of Mission schools and institutions.

HYPOCRITE Lonto-Boy with short memory. Do you remember the comment you made when an article about the Turkish government building a mosque and university in Ghana came on Ghanaweb? You find it convenient to criticize when it is on the other side but see nothing wrong when it’s done in your house. Have you seen that the coin has turn? What you got to say now you SICK- HEAD.
You can pretend not to know Lonto- Boy, but this is not about wanting society to accept our principle. The Most High is in control of the fate of Islam. We are fighting for our constitutional giving right governing educational institutions in Ghana. These institutions where given permit to operate under the Laws and guidance of the Ministry of education . Why do we have to conform to the principles of these schools when the laws of the land is saying otherwise? This is not rocket science for it to be difficult for slow brains like yours to understand. Hell will have broken lose if Islamic University is to force Lonto-Boy to come to prayer every Friday. Is it about the veil? Because you are not a practicing Christian you don’t know what the scripture ( Bible) says about women to cover their head. I will not help you with the chapter…go and find it yourself and come and defend your senseless position again. The problem with my Sunday only Christian friends is you don’t know your religion.
Infact you’ve dropped so low on my reasoning scale today my friend.

This writer is pretending as if Islam and Christianity are the only religions in Ghana. Look, as recently as year 2000 the number of traditionalists outnumbered Muslims in Ghana and so if you are promoting the hijab what will happen to students who are Rasta and prefer to wear dreadlocks. Nigeria towed this same line and today Morality has fallen in that country and the outcome is the upsurge of bokoharam, Prostitution and armed robbery by tertiary students, occutism, etc, just because at the secondary school level they were not taught moral values and the fear of God. This is because most of the missionary schools were taken over by the Nigerian Government.

REMEMBER HIJAB WONT TAKE YOU TO HEAVEN, NEITHER WILL CHRISTIAN IDEALS SEND US TO HEAVEN. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS HAVE WE SAT TO THINK OF WHAT WE ARE DOING AS A PEOPLE AND WHERE IT WILL LAND US! WE AS GHANAIANS ARE NOW CONFRONTED WITH DEEP AND VERY DIFFICULT CHALLENGES, WHAT IS OUR RELIGION BRINGING ON BOARD AT THIS POINT IN TIME TO FREE US FROM THE HARDSHIPS....BUT SEE HOW WE ARE ALLOWING POLITICIANS TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF US TO BLINDFOLD WITH THIS FACTIONALISM TO THE POINT THAT THE FIRST GENTLEMAN OF THE LAND HAD TO JUMP IN AND ISSUE INSTRUCTIONS WHEN HE HAS NOT ATTENDED TO THE IMPORTANT THINGS FACING THE COUNTRY. WE IN CRITICAL TIMES, LET US DEAL WITH CRITICAL ISSUES FIRST BEFORE RELIGIOUS FANATICM.

Muslims always deceive people that Muslims and Christians are one people. If that is the case then why are they afraid to attend morning devotion in honour of the christian God. I have always been saying that the violent Allah these muslims people worship is not the same as the peaceful christian God. When ever muslims are in the minority they always pretend they worship the same God as christian but when they realize their population is increasing it is there and then they will tell you Allah is different from the Christian God. They did the same thing in Malaysia and Indonesia where they made state laws to ban Christians from using the name Allah in their church services.
