Ahoofe,I stopped reading your piece longtime because in your stinking and useless big english I see a personality full of inferiority complex in an enslaved mind and colonozed skin.Per your baseless reasoning if socialist ideology is not good for development then how do you explain the success of China and Russia? Why is America the capitalist giant caving in for China now?
To be honest I dont believe in any of these foreign ideologies because we are Afrikans and we must have our own ideology and that was what Nkrumah tried to do for us.
Do you have the slightest imagination of the deplorable and despical situation of colonised or enslaved people???So even if Nkrumah was able to free us only from colonialism and did not give us anything else then I still consider his mission a big success but he gave us plenty of development for economic take off which was wasted after the cook.
Since when was Nkrumah was overthrown the man is long gone but no leader after him has been able to add anything substantial to our development in the way that NKRUMAH did.How many years did rawlings had to rule Ghana in total and what did he do???
The fact for me is Nkrumah,JB Danquah and all the Big Six as well as Busia I consider all as pioneers for Ghana and Afrika. The were all ahead of us and they all had to experiment to find the right path and that was what Nkrumah and all of them did.You must adore and respect all of them for that and all of them must be forgiven for their genuine human mistake.I think if Nkrumah and jb Danquah,Busia et al were still living they would have related to each other better now with much flexiliblity and understanding and they would have forgiven each other for their genuine erros, omissions and mistakes.
But what cannot be forgiven is the complete failure of true leadership amongst the current generation of leaders in Ghana and Afrika.I see Ghana now from afar and I feel like crying. Our leaders are running around wasting money and begging for alms and investment and yet they cannot reason that investment and development in the modern world is driven by abundant energy supply and that is why NKRUMAH made the Akosombo Dam his main priority project for devloping and moving Ghana forward.
So stop bashing Nkrumah you and your ilk say you dont want him so you overthrew him in a senseless and bloody coup and he is long gone.So stop blaming Nkrumah and develop Ghana now and move Ghana forward if you can period.

Sekwa, you are wrong. You are not calling a spade, a spade. You are either conveniently leaving out the most important facts, or you simply do not have them.
Under the condition of non-malevolent intervention by the West, those "Socialist" agenda could have succeeded to offer us a foundation of minimal equitable standards from which each individual could more effectively pursue his or her personal ambition.
How come China could sustain her even more extreme form of Socialism, called Communism, and still come to win the competition in Business interactions with the West, if we don't want to consider that phenomenon as any form of Capitalism?
We should not allow ideological labels stifle our creativity to achieve maximum performance. Mostly, it is the discipline within and persistence in doing the right thing by the Nation and the people that ensure significant economic gains. Check the memoirs of Lee Kuan Yew, whose Singapore our so-called astute Economic experts so often cite to draw a contrast between the relative developments of his country and Ghana's. The last time I checked Lee had instituted almost the same programs that Nkrumah had to provide his Citizens certain basic standards for personal improvements. Untormented, left to pursue his programs in Peace, he succeeded to meet his goals and reach beyond, even as a Dictator, unlike Nkrumah.
I am not saying that we ought to have embraced and lived with Nkrumah's dictatorship. But it is worth pointing out that that alone was not the reason for our failure. What you term Socialist agenda are implemented in Singapore but only by other names, say, Welfare. And guess what. The good USA has many of those too.
Just try a little harder to lift your head upwards towards North and track the Scandinavian Countries. They have practiced the same programs you term Socialist agenda for decades only to maintain the highest standard of Living in the World for a long time. Wouldn't you envy that? Socialist Agenda does not necessarily abrogate People's right to own private wealth. Nkrumah never imposed that abrogation on us, contrary to what his foes peddle around. His 'One-man, one-car' policy that his often cite to indicate his 'creepy' Socialist drift was designed to curb corruption among the State Officials. Many Ghanaians continued to own multiple vehicles and homes and were never under siege to relinquish them for some wacky ideological reasons. We had local transport owners who ran multiple vehicles without fear. Like every rule, someone down the line may misapply it to harass a personal foe, or some Official might overzealously misapply that law. But that does not rightly characterize the rule.
We must not also forget that most enemies would always capitalize on omissions and gaps to insert their own worst description of a policy to tarnish the good purpose of that Policy. There is an Akan saying that says: "Your enemies would always mimic your dance with a demeaning twist of the hip to make it look ridiculous".
Let's cut the hyperboles and efforts to re-write our History to anyone's exceptional convenience and deal with our current problems honestly and most wisely. We were never denied the rights to own our private wealth genuinely under Nkrumah. The Socialist programs were for accelerating the catching-up of the most disadvantaged. The elites hated that and would rather have us deepen the class differences, with them only always at the top.
We must beware of the hogwash some ignoble, fraudulent Scholars with their own agenda to preclude others from tightening the Wealth gap with them and their interests keep shoving down our unsuspecting throats.
Sit up, stand up if you will, Sir/Lady! At least the current high penetration of technology into our Culture and areas affords you and all of us the chance to research for the truths ourselves and not count solely on the crooked Professors and their Political minions to feed our minds with nutrient deficient cud for food.
Long Live Ghana!!!
We have had political freedom, continually, for a long while but our lack of discipline has been our bane.
It is simply a cup-out to be reaching back to blame our current economic predicament on Nkrumah, after having been forgiven of almost all our external debts to have a clean sheet to resume building the Country.
If you ask me, it is the humongous newly built Stool-shaped Flagstaff House that is a white elephant. Not the Motorway, for example, that has served us for 50 plus years without much maintenance expenditure. Not the Akosombo Dam that has provided most Ghanaians Electricity to support both domestic life and energy for business consumption.
How about the wasteful, vain expenditure of Medallion for self-congratulation and award by a later President?
Much of our misplaced priorities emanate from our cultural values. We are mostly moronically ostentatious. Consider the purchase of multi-million dollars Mansions abroad with the accumulated funds of a local traditional community by its leader, not for any investment in the interest of the people but for his personal enjoyment, while the roads that lead to his Palace might be ridden with potholes or the largest Market in his area is strewn with putrescent garbage deposited by flood, or the largest Hospital in his largest City and seat of authority lacking in basic medication and beds.
Gee! When will your abject hatred for a dead leader clear off your eyes to let you clearly see the truth and the way forward to real economic salvation for our People?
Long Live Ghana!!!

This is from Okoampa-Ahoofe from Chapter 2 ( "Harvest of Foolery") of his collection of essays published on 2004. When did his lobotomy occur? When he found out that he was related to J. B. Danquah.
"And here, it is significantly instructive to observe that none of the myriad putsches and coup detats have been staged by any other than bona fide members of the Ghanaian military. Granted, some rascal civilians are known to have staunchly backed regressivley Darwinian means of political access, including a world-renowned University-educated former prime minister. Interestingly, in July 1956, when President Nkrumah's Convention People's Party (CPP) won a landslide victory, Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia rode herd on a delegation to the British office in London, to petition the British Crown, and Ghana's extant colonial overlord, to desist from granting the already-scheduled return of Ghana to self-governance. Fortunately, Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia and his right-wing bourgeois reactionaries did not succeed. He would, however, succeed ten years later in backing the military junta that unseated the Nkrumah administration and facilitated the precipitous devolution of Ghanaian national destiny.
Indeed, it is interesting to observe that Ghana's major and, to-date, only international airport is named for General E.K. Kotoka, the very Darwinian outlaw who spearheaded the grossly unimaginative overthrow of the constitutionally elected government of the CPP. For many detractors and outright enemies of Nkrumah, Kotoka's greatest—if also sole—achievement was simply getting rid of an elected dictator. It has often been said, largely by Western academics, that Nkrumah was a heartless and fatuous dictator; these days, one hears Mr. Jerry John Rawlings, the career soldier who ran Ghana for twenty harrowing incontrovertibly bloody years, described as a "benign dictator." It is significant to observe that Mr. Rawlings, whose agnatic parentage is purported to be Scottish, presided over the dastardly kidnapping and summary execution of three Ghanaian supreme court judges, all of whom belonged to a single ethnic nationality.
When one agrees with the Western ideological mythology that Nkrumah was a raw-boned dictator bereft of vision, then it begins to make sense that Kotoka's statue should continue to command the august facade of Accra International Airport, thus perpetually humiliating those of us who incurably believe in democratic governance. Needless to say, the 1966 Kotoka-led coup initiated the barbaric, neo-colonial military dynasty that Ghanaian continue to suffer….
That Ghana's post-colonial political dilemma transcends military dictatorship cannot be honestly gainsaid. In fact, many of the most vociferous civilian opposition party leaders, some of whom are currently sitting in parliament, representing misguided and hoodwinked constituents, are known to have collaborated with Kotoka's so-called National Liberation Council to unseat President Nkrumah. It is also significant to observe that these largely superannuated rascals and executive national, fiduciary muggers continue to dominate whatever passes by the name of "the legitimate opposition." This state of affairs, coupled with a largely under-educated and under-informed electorate, has made it almost impossible to rectify the prevailing socioeconomic chaos ravaging the country.”

Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe's speculative perfection attributed to his relatives-studded Busia's Regime, that was undergirded by the Progress Party, an UP/NLM-incarnation, is at best a Dream, and at worst, a fool's paradise.
Just as many, including him, Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., have been denouncing the current NDC Administration under Mahama's leadership for having done nothing to advance the Nation, some 3 years into its tenure, the Busia Administration had run for 3 years when it was overthrown by Kutu Acheampong and his Military cohorts.
If the Professor is implying that all it had to take was let the Busia Administration finish its first term of Office that had only 1 year left, to see some enormous achievement accomplished, why in the World would he then clobber the Mahama Administration now for all its foibles, and not wait for the end of its term to make the full assessment of its achievements?
It is this convenient selective application of the measuring rod, with the sole purpose of enhancing the reputation of his political favorites at the expense of his political foes, on whom he simultaneously plaster nothing but putrescent waste-matter that irks many descent, honest and patriotic Ghanaians.
Just by lining up a host of despicable negative adjectives to describe another does not necessarily make one's view of the former true. We all have come to understand that no matter what show, Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr. and his like-minded Hitlerian Scholars would never see a scintilla of good deed in Nkrumah's leadership. It seems to be a career-springboard for many of such Scholars to focus on trashing everything Nkrumah did, hoping that their zealously anticipated future Government of their favorite Political leaders would notice them to accord them some high Offices.
Whatever achievement by Nkrumah they know in their dark hearts as un-trashable, these scholars would then assign its credit to Danquah or some other entity in the past that could have, at best, contemplated seeing Ghana attain the same.
From Akosombo Dam to, now, Tema Township, this Fiction-Writer Nobel-Laureat-wanna-be would rather have us believe that the implementation of any great plan to score a developmental Achievement in Ghana is not as important as the origination of the idea for that plan.
In his mischievous muffled brain, he thinks the mere conception of an idea that would never be implemented is better than the implementation of that idea. One thing this Professor deviously refuses to acknowledge is that it takes as certain will and determination to get ideas to congeal and implemented. He should have learnt by now that different visionary individuals could concur on certain objectives but only some would have those objectives seen through to attainment.
Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., is consumed by his own self-aggrandizement to believe that when a brilliant idea is born in the mind of someone, it could never be that a similar idea might have been conceived by another. He would rather have us reject the concept of synoptic conjecture, or imagination. He is averse to any notion that whatever luminous idea Danquah ever had could not be agreed upon by Nkrumah through the latter's own constructive, logical mental calculation. The Professor would rather foist upon us the notion that anything that Nkrumah ever did to earn the Public's approval was the brainchild of Danquah's that Nkrumah stole.
Folks, this is the kind of Professor that is supposed to assess Students based on whatever knowledge he imparts to them.
We should all be vigilant to pick out these types of fraudulent thinking Professors and Scholars who think they and their relatives alone are blessed with any high intelligence and have the ability to recognize and uphold high morals.
We should not let their diabolical machinations to perpetually divide Ghana up for their easy selfish manipulations be lost upon us. In all the numerous anti-Nkrumah bashing theses spewed into the Media by this Professor and his kind, they never concede a single blemish in the behaviors and activities of their political idols, but would always see nothing of commendable repute in Nkrumah, or any other opponents of theirs. Such is the apogee of not only Academic dishonesty, but also grotesque self-conceit and character impairment.
One does not have to be a Nkrumahist to fully see through the malevolent whitewashing by these fiendish avowed History modifiers and bigots. All well-meaning, discerning, truly patriotic Ghanaians must toss out the endless opprobrious condemnation of Nkrumah by his political enemies and their progeny, whose only goal is to replace his globally recognized fame with notoriety, and enhance the image of their favorites and superimpose it on Nkrumah's to completely obscure his positive relevance to Ghana's existence.
Enough is enough from these Goebbels of our time. What Ghana needs most, now, is a stream of constructive, unifying ideas, even in the midst of political diversity. Not concerted merely defamatory treatises on her leaders.
Long Live Ghana!!!

Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., my earlier comment on this Article of yours did not carry anything to suggest even remotely that I despise Akyems. You simply decided to get back at me with something that might engender some massive Akyem support of you against me. That, in and of itself, further affirms your incorrigible bigotry. No one wins any heroism among one's folks by resorting to needless, baseless, fallacious claim to be their protector. Therefore, you cannot claim to be the vanguard heroic, Professorial voice for Akyems with your chronic, pathologically mendacious claims, picking tribal feuds where there is none called for.
In your rather curiously shallow-layered, or should I say, muffled brain, from which you so easily, conveniently and selectively extract weird reasoning to justify your abject buffoonery, you cannot seem to understand why your pervasive disregard for other people's humanity attracts irritations from your audience.
One of the few instances that I remember mentioning tribalism in my comment on your piece is when I responded to confront you on your bigotry, and the unwarranted pervert and lascivious verbiage you used to describe the marriage of the former President Kufuor. In that piece of yours, you chose to attack President Kufuor, the Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, Kwadwo Mpiani, J. H. Mensah and Alan Kyeremateng and somehow referred to what the former President might be doing with his wife in their privacy a very obscene, unspeakable phraseology.
It was not as much as you even attacked these folks mentioned above as the way you did it that ignited my protest in that reactive comment to yours. If that is what makes you believe I am displaying some 'oversized Asante identity', so be it. But I would like to emphasize that I am too pragmatic in my adherence to the truth on our common humanity to be any hyperbolic in showcasing my tribal identity. I do not wear any pride on my sleeves other than what is innate in me. And I do not offend anyone with what my tribal identity is.
It is you who has proven to be incapable of separating your tribal affinity from the essence of issues that universally impact all Ghanaians for objective non-divisive discussion.
So, Sir, quit peddling in pathological lies and defamatory binge to obscure your character impairment. You are ubiquitously on record for your incorrigible bigotry. Find some psychiatric help to control that ruinous personal handicap, rather than further deepening the depths of your sinking reputation with more of the same foolishness. You might be really insane...a truly Mad Professor!!
Have a nice day!!!
I have never offended Akyems, and would never do so. If anyone might misconstrue something I said as Akyem bashing, that would be their error, not mine. However, folks like you would love to manufacture such offenses to be imputed to me.
Show me even one Article or Comment that I have submitted anywhere that contains my insults at, or hatred for, the great loving, hardworking, intelligent and magnanimous Akyem Tribe.
You see, Professor 'Goebbels' Okoampa-Ahoofe, Jr., it is only when that I am taking on insane, insecure, bigots like you, who seem to have huge voids in their self-esteem and decide to fill them with vainglorious, egoistic claims of familial connections to pre-eminent individuals and feats, and in the process trash other tribes that I even mention tribalism in my comments.
However, if it would serve to quell your ADHD-anxieties on my tribal affiliations, I think it would suffice for that end to mention that I have deep maternal ancestral links to Akyem via the Akosahs, Nketiahs, and Yeboahs of Akyem Oda, among other locations in that vicinity. So, Sir, I would not cut my own nose to spite my face by foolishly targeting Akyems for any tribal bashing. That is simply not in my being.

Okoampa, this is a summary of the External Co-optation(by R Libby) Akwasi referred you to read
"The author advances the thesis that the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, and creditor countries structured the context in which their client, Ghana—a less developed country—formulated its economic policy between 1969 and 1972. The intergovernmental organizations and creditor countries failed to take Ghana's domestic political situation into account, however. When the country became heavily dependent upon the IGO's and creditors for financial assistance to enable the government to survive a disastrous shortfall in foreign exchange earnings, it was forced to accept extreme and politically dangerous measures in order to secure assistance. The policies that were adopted were catastrophic, and destroyed what remained of the democratic government's public support. This dramatic change in public climate made the government fatally vulnerable to a military coup d'état".

IT IS STILL A PITY THAT, WE DO NOT KNOW WHERE WE ARE AND WHY WE STILLBACKWARD, UNDEDEVELOPED AND POOR.
ALL THESE ARTICLES ARE COUNTER PRODUCTIVE, AND NEVER WILL THEY HELP TO RAISE THE GDP OF GHANA.
THE SO CALLED ''DOYEN'' OF GHANA POLITICS DANQUAH, DOMBO, KOI lARBI, BAFFOUR AKOTO,OFORI- ATTA,ANTON AND BUSIA ALL CAME TO PLAY THEIR PART IN GHANA'S POLITICAL HISTORY IN THEIR LIFE TIMES; WHATE ROLE HAVE THE NOISY EDUCATED GHANAIANS PLAYED AFTER THE EXIT OF NKRUMAH IN 1966; TO TRANSFORM THE ECONOMY TO PROSPERITY.
CHURCHIL, ROOSEVELT, LENIN,LINCOLN,PINOICHET, AYENDI,NEHRU AND GHANDI ALL OF THESE WORLD LEADERS CAME TO PLAY THEIR PART IN THE ECONOMC AND POLITICAL HISTORY OF THEIR VARIOUS COUNTRIES AND NEVER HAVE THEIR CITIZENS BEEN SENSELESS AND STUPID TO BE WRITING ON THESE PEOPLE IN THEIR NATIONAL NEWSPAPERS.
WE READ IN THE HOLY SCRIPTURES THAT, THERE IS TIME TO PLAY, TIME TO WEEP,CRY AND WORK.
IN ACTIUAL FACT,WE HAVE TO BE SICK AND TIDE OF THESE IRRATIONAL ARTICLES THAT HAVE STILL NOT HELPED TO PLAY A ''DENT' IN THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF GHANA.
WHERE ARE OUR SCIENTIFIC INNOVATIONS,TECHNOLOGY, INVENTION AND CREATIVITY IN TACKLING DESTITUTION AND POVERTY IN AKIM-ABUAKWA AND GHANA AS A WHOLE.
ARE YOU NOT ASHAMED TO SEE YOUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS IN AKIM-ABUAKWA STILL LIVING IN MUD AND HUT STRUCTURES WITH CORRIGATED IRON AND GRASS ROOFINGS IN THE 21st CENTURY.
ARE THE PEOPLE IN NEW YORK LIVING IN THESE STRUCTURES AND WITHOUT BASISIC AMENTIESS.
DR WATSON WAS WRITE IN HIS CONDEMINATION OF THE BLACKMAN.
WE MUST BE VERY HOPEÖLESS AND USELESS PEOPLE ON EARTH.

You are the idiot, Atakora-Mensah; you claim to have read my works on Nkrumah which you post in this forum. Then asked to put your money where your mouth is, it turns out you don't even have a mouth but a snout! A fool like you with such a noble name "Atakora." Which of my Mampong ancestors were your parents slaves to?
Just because you and your neo colonialist bunch see yourselves inferior to other races does not make all of us lazy and idiots to go begging for our survival on perpetuity. What India and Pakistan can do we can do it with or ...

Just like the article's author, you are one of those ignoramuses who pretend to be educated. Fact is, NO GHANAIAN HAS DONE MORE FOR GHANA THAN THE OSAGYEFO.
Okoampa, I wonder whether you read beyond the Ghanaweb? I suggest you read this article to find out the mess Busia created for himself:

Akwasi, this is old stuff. By the way, what scholar are you, if I may ask? This stuff is basic and Nkrumah faced the same problems. And so what is your point? That Busia was a worse administrator than Nkrumah? Come again!
You are being glib with "this is old stuff" argument.
What is "old stuff" about the fact that Busia did not trust J. H. Mensah who was the Finance and Economic Planning minister?
Libby writes:
"Niculescu, an old an ...
