If J.B Danquah hadn't been born at all patriotic Ghanaians would've still overthrown Kwame Nkrumah with or without the help of CIA because, his leftward tendencies had reached a point of no return. The Guy was a red sickle communist of Stalin, Pol pot and Idi Amin type of human being.
Every Ghanaian cursed the day that this cunning, dishonest man was invited to join the UGCC as its secretary and he proved to be the mother of all traitors in Ghana. It was, therefore, legitimate and even desirable to get rid of that callous, one party state and president for life communist dictator. And I congratulate Kotoka and his friends once again for securing our true independence (after Nkrumah had hijacked the first one) and delivering us from the grips of Nkrumah; one of the most dangerous human beings that ever lived on the African continent.

I thought today, the editors will devote all articles to the coup that overthrew Nkrumah exactly 49 years ago. This should include even articles on the ongoing debate between the so-called Nkrumaists and their opponents. Instead there is only this article on the subject and it is not a particularly good one.
Perhaps the editors didn't receive enough articles on the subject to flood the day's opinion section.
But it is not too late. The ghanaweb editors can still collect articles on this subject and publish only such articles on a day set aside to commemorate the coup. This should come on any day - perhaps tomoro or the rest of the week.

Auntie Lucy is now 76years and recounts the abuses they suffered as "evil and dangerous."..."
And we understand a lot of public property were destroyed by the NLC, including the economy, which they then used as the springboard to the usurpation of power, illegally!
Timely essay, we dare say!

... like it was yesterday. We also remember the "revenge" that was launched against the followers of Nkrumah. MPs, DCs, Ministers, CPP functionaries and lots of people had to run away. People were arrested and maltreated only because they belonged to the CPP.
We also remember the destruction that followed overthrow - destruction of our own properties. They tried to do away with Nkrumah so much that we destroyed things that today will serve as our heritage. That is why the Nkrumah Museum today is poor and scanty - we destroyed everything of Nkrumah's. We set bonfires to his books, pictures, pamphlets etc.
We also remember the concerted effort by NLC, with the connivance of the opposition to Nkrumah, to tarnish and destroy his image. We remember all the vilification of the man at that time.
But we also remember how, barely a few years later, Ghanaians started realising that the man was not as devilish as they were told. They started remembering all the good things that he had, after all, done for the nation.
Today, most Ghanaians remember Nkrumah for the good things, the good times, the pride he instilled in Ghanaians, his vision, his dedication, his hatred of tribalism and divisive politics. He was not perfect, no, he wasn't. But who is?
None of the leaders who came after him can measure to him and he will forever be a force to reckon with in our politics - even though he is dead.

No more nkrumaism, kankan nyame, Young Pioneers, communism, one-party state, tyranny, socialism, torture of political opponents in prison and man's inhumanity to man. CPP did not believe in multi-party system so why are they participating in it. They believe in a one-party state. CPP is doomed for ever. Only idiots like Akosa who are still worshipping the read tyrant

If I remember correctly, I have reliably read elsewhere that there were no more than 800 persons in protective custody during Nkrumahs period. I would be interested to know where the author of the above article got the figure of 1,800 'recorded' cases.
Similarly, I have also come across information that says that much much more than 2000 persons were jailed by the CIA sponsored military puppet-dictatorship who effected the coup in concert with active members of the treacherous Danquah-Busia gang.
Such details are very important so as to forestall the mischievous gimmicks of the treacherous Danquah-Busia gang in their futile bid to make themselves forcibly relevant in the history of Ghana. It is therefore very important that anyone who writes full-length articles on the subject, be circumspect and make due references to sources of controversial information.
Had the CPP placed itself in a position of intellectual ability, it should be the party that should be writing to correct and quash all such doubts and actual disinformation schemes. At the very least, they can ask Kwaku Baako.

Nkrumah studied in both USA and UK but returned to Ghana as if he had never heard about democracy. He controlled the judiciary and the press and from morninng to mid night all one heard was 'Osagyefo the President'. His sole ambition was to be the life President of Africa without a Vice and any one who opposed him had to be killed in Nsawam Prison. He gave the President of Mali and Guinea 10 million pounds each from our coffers to the Presidents of Mali and Guinea to help him to be President of Africa.
CPP was the first to rig election claiming they won 99.97% and celebrated with placards some of which were held upside-down because the holders did not even know what they were carrying. He ruled with iron fist and terror. No one likes dictators and Nkrumah was a mad dictator

In the history of mankind, Nkrumah was the only President who ruled without a Vice President because he was so power-drunk that he declared himself President for life and a messiah. Hitler even had Hess. By the time he was overthrown, he had killed all political opponents in Nsawam Prison also known as Kwame Nkrumah Concentration Camp or Nkrumah Killing Field. If you want to know what Nkrumah did to Ghanaians find out what Yaya Jammeh is doing to the Gambia, Mugabe to Zimbabwe, Museveni to Uganda and Kabila to Congo and what Iddi Amin did to Uganga, Maumar Gadafi to Lybia and Pol Pot did to Cambodia. Nkrumah poluted the minds of the kids to the extent that some ex-Young Pioneers such as Akosa are still worshipping the dead tyrant.
His own son Sekou Nkeumah is even ashamed of CPP and his own CPP henchmen led by Tawiah Adanafio decided to finish him at Kulungugu and Flagstaff House when Ametepe tried. The best thing that has ever happened to GHana was the overthrow of mad dictator Kwame Nkrumah
