Dear Prof. Lungu & ISSA ABONGO,
Good day.
Please, I believe I have already provided a list of books (by Dr. Kofi Kissi Dompere) which has all the necessary answers readers need from Dr. Dompere and his corpus of works.
What is more, I have also addressed several practical solutions to many simple problems such as public health (sanitation, etc) in several of my articles posted on Ghanaweb. I did this, to mention just an example, when the government of President Mahama officialized the so-called National Sanitation Day. I did a three-part series on this.
The point is that there are several solutions to basic problems of society that are implied by most of the statements in this particular essay. I asked for instance:
"Why are religion and laziness, to mention but two, rather than science, technology, technocracy, industry, and critical thinking, being promoted as the panacea for Africa’s manifold ills?"
What does the above statement mean? It means many things. Among other things, it brings to mind why some in the Ghanaian clergy, for instance, will call for prayers, fasting, and tongue-speaking to address problems of Ebola and malaria, say, rather than impress upon the citizenry to clean gutters, evacuating stagnant waters where mosquito larvae are bred, properly disposing of garbage, watch what they eat, etc. Put another way, why should we pray and fast for solutions when the source of a given societal problem is anthropogenic? What ARE CRITICAL THINKING, TECHNOLOGY, TECHNOCRACY, INDUSTRY (hard work), and SCIENCE in my essay for?
Must I always explicitly say what I want to say? Of course, this question is not for you Prof. Lungu. It is for ISSA ABONGO.
Another essential corollary of my piece relates to the attention I draw to Adam Smith's "invisible hand." What am I saying? I am saying that Adam Smith's highly theoretical "invisible hand" does not work in practice in most instances. What this also means is that we should concentrate on things that work, practical ideas that is, rather than invest in idealistic ideas that have no immediate practical use to society. That is, most times it is the reader’s sole responsibility to squeeze deductive or inductive conclusions out of the labyrinth of a writer’s meandering theorizing (this is for ISSA ABONGO, not for Prof. Lungu. PROF. LUNGU’S LAST COMMENT CLEARLY TELLS ME HE FULLY GRASPS WHAT MY ARTCLE IS ALL ABOUT).
I can also read into the preceding statement that "most" ideas of science, technocracy, technology, critical thinking, etc., work if prudently applied and, therefore, we might want to overlook Adam Smith's "invisible hand," which, among other things, can be approached from the standpoint of metaphor where it internally attacks religiosity, mental laziness, etc., and invest in creative, practical ideas. Some readers also fail to see any relationship between theory and praxis. The two can actually overlap in certain situations.
For instance, take a closer look at Ghana’s winner-takes-all capitalism and see how much it contributes to Ghana’s underdevelopment? Look at the judgment debt scandals? Ghost names? Shady procurement and tendering deals? Arsons? Greed? Kleptomania? Universal corruption in Ghana? Yet we have private companies that are not reimbursed or even paid to clear our cities of garbage, and we say Adam Smith’s “invisible hand,” purportedly the basis of free market capitalism, is the way to go!
Thus, I do not have to be exegetically explicit all the time. That is not necessarily a symptom of good writing (THIS IS FOR ISSA ABONGO). It is also the responsibility of readers to read critically and to ask questions where they think something is not right, or where they get exegetically entangled in the labyrinth of a writer’s thinking (please I do not say this as insult; I have been misunderstood on several occasions for saying this. THIS IS FOR ISSA ABONGO).
In sum, there are so many practical connotations embedded in my piece that I do not have all the time in the world to unravel. In other words, practical solutions to simple problems plaguing the Ghanaian society are all there only if a reader will look or read closely (For ISSA ABONKGO).
Other than that, I also used the opportunity to clear some of the misconceptions and revisionist distortions about Nkrumah, a strategy I think will go a long way to help readers better appreciate Nkrumah's ideas and legacy as they embark on reading both Dr. Kofi Kissi Dompere's works on Nkrumah and Nkrumah’s writings (if they have not done so already). Therein lies many practical solutions to simple problems plaguing society. Importantly also, my piece was meant to stress the practical side of ideational processes. That is all. I implore ISSA ABONGO to go back and read it again.
To Prof. Lungu specifically, I take your last comment as a wisecrack (pun intended; laugh it off). I have got used to your style of writing, philosophy of argumentation, and the like, even as I read your write-ups.
A great weekend to you both.

Francis, it is unfair for to suggested people who disagree with Nkrumah and his policies are his "emotionally tainted ideological enemies". It is just that in every known political system, there are those who will oppose certain policies of the ruling government and will do everything to change the course of such policies. This is the faith Nkrumah suffered. I guess he was emotionally tainted when he imprisoned and caused the death of JB Danquah. I like Nkrumah, but I disagree with him on several fronts. That is all.

Dear Kwadwo,
Yes, it is not about constructively critiquing Nkrumah that is my headache. It is the ahistorical facts and revisionist lies about him that is what I am concerned about.
For instance, why should the coup plotters put a gun to Nkrumah's mother's head to force her to deny her own son?
Why should the coup plotters force Nkrumah's niece to deny her uncle?
Why should anyone say Nkrumah was not a Ghanaian when Ghana did not exist at the time, and when all the verifiable facts say otherwise?
It is the provable and verifiable lies about Nkrumah I am concerned with, not the constructive critiques. What is more, if you had critically read my earlier articles in this series and others, Kwadwo, you would have realized by now or read where I had specifically entertained constructive criticism of Nkrumah.
Regrettably, Philip Kobina Baidoo, Jr.’s futile attempt to package lies and sell them to unsuspecting buyers, just because he wanted to discredit Nkrumah is a good example. We see others do this on Ghanaweb all the time. MOST OF THE CRITICISMS OF NKRUMAH ON GHANAWEB ARE NOT BASED ON VERIFIABLE FACTS. THEY ARE EMOTION-DRIVEN FOR THE MOST PART. ANY GOOD HISTORIAN WILL TELL YOU THIS ABOUT MR. PHILIP KOBINA BAIDOO, JR.’S BIASED PIECE, FOR INSTANCE. THAT IS NOT HOW I GO ABOUT THINGS. REMEMBER ALSO THAT MR. BAIDDO, JR. COULD BE MY FATHER’S AGE (IF HE SAYS HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE YOUND PIONEERS) AND THEREFORE HE MUST LEARN TO TEACH GHANAIAN/AFRICAN YOUTH CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS BY PRESENTING BALANCED ASSESSMENT OF FACTS ON HISTORICAL FIGURES. AMERICA’S FOUNDING FATHERS DID MORE HORRIBLE THINGS THAN GHANA, I MUST ADD, YET WE HAVE NKRUMAH’S IDEOLOGICAL ENEMIES PRESENTING AMERICA’S FOUNDING FATHERS AS ANGELS. RELATIVELY SPEAKING, NKRUMAH WAS ONE OF THE 20TH CENTURY’S PROFOUNDEST AND CLEANEST POLITICIANS. IN FACT, NKRUMAH WAS BUILDING AFRICA AND GHANA WHILE OBETSEBI-LAMPTEY AND BUSIA AND DANQUAH WERE KILLING CHILDREN AND INNOCENT MEN AND WOMEN WITH BOMBS, TEARING EVERYTHING DOWN THIS GOOD AND DECENT MAN WAS BUILDING FOR THE WORLD.
Unfortunately for his ideological enemies, Nkrumah was and still is the best Ghana and Africa has had in the past 1000 years (“MAN OF THE MILLENIUM”; “PERSONALITY OF THE CENTURY”; etc). This fact is irrefutable. No one comes close. Yes, we should constructively critique him without the revisionist lies and shameful distortions of history. TAKE NOTE: I WILL NOT BUY THEM.
This is all I have to say for now.

Kwawdo,
I forgot directly addressing one of your emotionally-tainted comments: Nkrumah never killed Danquah. Danquah brought his own death upon himself. We know why Danquah joined the National Liberation Movement and we also know about the Movement’s terrorism.
It was Danquah who first plotted with others to overthrow and possibly kill Nkrumah. The record is there for all to read. In fact, any vindictive leader would have hanged Danquah or made him face the firing squad.
Nkrumah was so nice and lenient with him. We also know Danquah worked closely with the CIA to destabilize Ghana, to overthrow the Nkrumah government, and to possibly kill him. We know how British corporations funded Danquah’s and Busia’s National Liberation Movement to destabilize Ghana and to overthrow Nkrumah. We know all the history, all the facts. In effect, Danquah was one of the most treacherous and most murderous politicians Africa ever had.
I don't want to go over the facts because Dr. Kwame Botwe-Asamoah and many Western and Ghanaian scholars have gone extensively into this question. Do you recall Danquah’s association with the ritual murder of his relative, Nana Akyea Mensah? And how he fell out with the colonial authorities on account of this shameful deed?
Let us not get into Busia and his deadly terrorism! This part of our political history is well known as well!
Have a great weekend!

Assuming what you stated about Danquah are true, I don't remember him being tried or found guilty by a Court of law before he was imprisoned? These are some of the issues "emotionally tainted yearings of Nkrumah's ideological enemies" have against. At least the colonial regime left behind a robust judiciary and I am curious why he failed to use it to punish the " traitors". You simply don't put people away without trial because you perceive them to be working against your government. And please Francis, don't wriggle around this one by asserting that the PDA was passed by parliament because we know the composition of that body at the time.
I will take freedom over grandiose projects and factories built by a benevolent dictator. We are not going back to those days no matter what you and Dompere say. Nkrumahism is dead and buried. Good night.

Kwadwo,
WHY DID YOU CONVENIENTLY SKIP DANQUAH’S ASSOCIATION WITH THE RITUAL MURDER OF THE NANA AKYEA MENSAH AND HIS FALL-OUT WITH THE COLONIAL AUTHORITIES ON THAT ACCOUNT? WHY DID YOU CONVENIENTLY SKIP THE TERRORISM OF DANQUAH, BUSIA, OBETSEBI-LAMPTEY AND OTHERS? WHY DID YOU CONVENIENTLY SKIP THE TERRORIST ORGANIZATION, THE NATIONAL LIBRATION MOVEMENT OF WHICH DANUAH AND BUSIA WERE ITS TWO MOST IMPORTANT LEADERS? YOU SEE HOW EMOTIONALLY TAINTED YOU GUYS CAN BE?
LEST I FORGET, HAVE YOUR NOT READ ABOUT REPRESENTATIVES OF THE AFRICAN UNION REQUESTING THAT NKRUMAH’S BOOKS BE MADE AVAILABLE ACROSS THE CONTINET FOR THE YOUTH TO READ? I WILL LOOK FOR THE PIECE AND SEND IT TO YOU.
NKRUMAHISM IS ALIVE AND KICKING. EVERY THING NKRUMAH BUILT FOR GHANA AND AFRICA ARE THE PRACTICAL REFLECTIONS OF NKRUMAHISM. GHANA AIRWAYS, GHANA TELECOMS, AKOSOMBO DAM, AFRICAN UNION, AND THE OTHERS BOTH JOHN KUFOUR AND RAWLINGS HAVE SOLD ARE ALL PART OF THE PRACTICAL DIMENSION OF NKRUMAHISM.
THE EXISTENCE OF GHANA TODAY ITSELF DEMONSTRATES THE LIVING-NESS OF NKRUMAHISM. DID KUFOUR NOT MAKE MAY 25 AN AFRICAN UNION HOLIDAY IN GHANA? WHAT IS THE POINT IF NKRUMAHISM IS DEAD? HAVE YOU NO IDEA THAT AFRICAN UNION, UNKRUMAH’S BRAINCHILD, IS PART OF NKRUMAHISM?
MOREOVER, NKRUMAHISM CONTINUES TO SHAPE AMERICAN INSTITUTIONS SUCH AS BLACK STUDIES, WHICH IS ITSELF A MULTIDISCIPLINARY AREA OF RESEARCH CUTTING ACROSS ALL MAJOR STUDIES ACROSS AMERICA (SEE DR. ZIZWE POE’S BOOK “KWAME NNKRUMAH’S CONTRIBUTIONS TO PAN-AFRICANISM: AN AFROCENTRIC ANALYSIS; SEE ALSO DR. TOYIN FALOLA’S EDITED VOLUME “AFRICANIZING KNOWLEDGE: AFRICAN STUDIES ACROSS THE DISCIPLINES”).
NKRUMAHISM IS THE BASIS OF THE THEORY OF AFROCENTRICITY, ONE OF THE WORLD’S FAMOUS THEORETICAL TOOLS TO COME OUT OF THE 20TH CENTURY. MANY SCHOLARS INCLUDING DR. MOLEFI KETE ASANTE HAVE CREDITED NKRUMAH FOR LAING DOWN THE FOUNDATION FOR THE THEORY. NKRUMAHISM IS STILL RIGOROUSLY STUDIED ACROSS AMERICAN INSTITUTIONS. SO WHAT ARE YOU TALING ABOUT?
ISN’T GHANA TELECOMS GENERATING MONEY FOR GHANA? HASN’T THE AKOSOMBO DAM DONE A LOT FOR GHANA? NKRUMAH’S NKRUMAHISM HELPED DISMANTLE APARTHIEID, AMONG OTHERS, HENCE HIS 1978 SPECIAL SESSION UNITED NATIONS AWARD? NKRUMAHISM HELPED FREE THE ENTIRE CONTINENT.
MR. Enoch Ampofo, the man who received one of South Africa’s National Awards on behalf of the Nkrumah family and the Ghanaian government, had this to say as he learned is in South Africa:
“GAINING PERSPECTIVES INTO HOW DR. KWAME NKRUMAH HAS AFFECTED THE PEOPLE OF SOUTH AFRICA, I FOUND OUT THAT BACK IN THE DAYS OF APARTHEID, THE OPPRESSED PEOPLE WENT TO SCHOOL AND WERE TAUGHT ABOUT THE PRINCIPLES OF KWAME NKRUMAH OR NKRUMAHISM.”
Is South Africa dead? If not, then, South Africa is alive today because Nkrumahism made it alive. Dr. Isaac Kwame Amoah, the Ghanaian son-in-law of Mandela’s daughter Makaziwe Mandela, has told the world how Nkrumahism influenced Mandela, the ANC, and the African National Congress! Let me end here!
Now back to your question. Yes the same colonial government sent Nkrumah to prison in the wake of the Positive Action? What did Nkrumah do wrong? Didn't Nkrumah and Gold Coasters have the right to ask the colony back? Was the Gold Coast the British?
Furthermore, did the British put any of America's Founding Fathers in prison in the wake of America's War of Independence? Go and read Ekow Nelson/Michael Gyamerah’s piece “The Origins of Preventive Detention in Ghana” to see which laws the colonial government in Ghana used to imprison innocent Ghanaians? Try to find out how this colonial law differed from the PDA!
Go and read about the Protective Custody Decree (PCD), the National Liberation Council’s version of the PDA, and see how many people its leadership put in prison (1850) as opposed to the number that went to prison under the PDA (1377), though Nkrumah had ruled longer than the leadership National Liberation Council (REMEMBER THAT BUSIA WORKED WITH AND ADVISED THE NLC). You should also crosscheck the number that died under both systems.
Yes, you can't deal with the issue with JB Danquah without talking about the PDA. The PDA, which was the law of the land and passed with the constitutional oversight of the Queen of England, mandated that nation-wreakers be imprisoned without trial.
Moreover, a court does not necessarily have to prove an individual’s guilt in order to establish a case against him or her. Technicalities, politics, bribery, cleverness of a criminal, etc., can all undermine the strength of a case. How many innocent individuals have gone to prison when they should? And haven’t there been many guilty individuals who have been set free for many reasons, some of which I cite above?
For example, many serial rapists and killers have not been caught, tried, and found guilty until later because they may have carefully planned their deeds to evade science and law enforcement authorities. There are many cases of these around the world, particularly in America. You said you have a JD and therefore should know this. How long did it take the FBI to find out that OJ Simpson’s killed his wife and her boyfriend?
Kwadwo, you should go back and read all the primary sources Dr. Kwame Botwe-Asamoah and others (Western sources) have given on JB Danquah, his collaboration with the CIA, and how he and others planned to do to Nkrumah, as told to an official of the American embassy.
American sources have also revealed how JB Danquah went about complaining that the CIA had stopped paying him after his release from prison. What was the CIA paying him for? In fact, this controversy forced the American Ambassador at the time to summon the CIA to find out why the CIA was working with JB Danquah without his knowledge?
You should find all the declassified information (on Nkrumah’s overthrow and try to read the books that are cited here. There is one book by a former CIA agent (mentioned in the link below) that tells you all you need to know about Danquah and the CIA. After reading this and the declassified documents, you emotionally-tainted ranting will disappear like vapor. Let me it easier for you: The Book’s title is “IN SEARCH OF ENEMIES: A CIA STORY” (John Stockwell). You should also read “THE MAN WHO KEPT THE SECRETS: RICHARD HELMS AND THE CIA” (Thomas Powers).
The declassified documents are: 1) State Department Documents, Part 1 (or Document 251) and 2) State Department Documents, Part 2 (or Document 253). I had copies of this when I first came to the United States. I can’t locate them anymore. But I can copies for you. That will take time though! (Here is the link: www.seeingblack.com/x060702/nkrumah.shtml).
Mind you, George W. Bush and some of his cabinet have been tried and found guilty in places like Malaysia (for defying invading Iraq). On the other hand, the Spanish lawyer that led a team of international jurists to try George W. Bush and his cabinet members in question is being hounded in Spain. You can go ahead and read about this yourself. What laws did the international jurist convict Bush and his friends on?
Like I said before, Ghana’s security had everything to hang Danquah but Nkrumah being lenient let it go. Remember Nkrumah had others who were caught red-handed trying to sabotage the country, his person, and his government pardoned. JB Danquah went to prison under the PDA because there was enough evidence to send him there. We should be thankful for Nkrumah’s lenience.
In fact, Dr. Kwame Botwe-Asamoah had provided extensive primary, secondary, and tertiary evidence to show how nice Nkrumah made sure Danquah was treated in prison. He had even provided evidence from Danquah’s own wife to show how thankful she was about Nkrumah’s tireless efforts at making Danquah received the best medical care!
How many have been convicted and sent to prison on circumstantial evidence as opposed to direct, physical evidence? Danquah was one of the most murderous and most treacherous politicians Ghana in Africa (just as Busia). Their leadership of the terrorist organization National Liberation Movement (NLM) and the hundreds of innocent people they murdered alone qualify them for the firing squad or guillotine. Who would have forgiven these two terrorists? Go and read Ghana’s political history and declassified records, all is there. YOU SEE YOU EMOTIONALLY-TAINTED RANTING ALREADY DISAPPEARING.
NOW YOU KNOW NKRUMAHISM IS ALIVE AND KICKING. DR. KOFI KISSI DOMPERE HAS, IN FACT, WON AN AMERICAN PRESTIGIOUS AWARD FOR ONE OF HIS MAJOR WORKS ON NKRUMAHISM.
PLEASE NEXT TIME TELL ME MORE ABOUT DANQUAH, TERRORISM, THE NATIONAL LIBERATION MOVEMENT, NANA AKYEA MENSAH. GO FIGURE.
GOOD NIGHT!

I asked a simple question as to why Nkrumah never put JB Danquah before the established court of law before he was imprisoned and you failed to answer it. I would have moved a judge to strike all that you just ranted as unresponsive. However. I will give you a break if all that you wrote meant that Nkrumah did not deem it necessary to put Danguah on trial because he did not trust the Court to obtain a conviction. I will concede that Danquah opposed Nkrumah and plotted with the CiA to even overthrow him. But my legal training demands that you put such a person on trial and after conviction request the harshest sentence. I stand by this principle and I have consistent with it against Nkrumah and Rawlings. I have never forgiving Rawlings for executing Generals without trial and I am not going to let Nkrumah off the hook either for
putting people away without trial either. I am an officer of the Court and I believe in judicial
process albeit legal systems are not perfect.
It has been revealed that Howard Bain received intelligence star and several promotions for spearheading the overthrow of Nkrumah. He perhaps collaborated with Danguah and several others in removing Nkrumah. But all I am saying it Nkrumah should have charged Danquah and tried him then. Don't you think Nkrumah would have received support ones the evidence came out in Court?
Nkrumah's failure to do this demonstrates that he was a demagogue willing to abuse the rights of others to achieve his ideological aims. That is dictatorship to me, and if this humble view makes me a tainted emotive ideological enemy of Nkrumah, I will take that label with a smile.
Good morning.

ISSA ABONGO,
You are hurting so bad for what I cannot fathom THE REASON to be. Seriously you are hurting so bad. What makes you tick, is it Nkrumah’s great name, his great ideas, or his great, rich legacy? Which one? Is anybody asking you to read Nkrumah at gun point?
If so, why haven’t you informed Scotland Yard? As for me and my readers, no one is forcing us to read authors we don’t want to read! Therefore, you may be doing yourself a disservice if someone is forcing you to read Nkrumah at gun point and you don’t want to report it to the authorities! We don’t force readers to read our Ghanaweb write-ups on Nkrumah! It is a free world, ISSA ABONGO? I pick and choose what I want to read on Ghanaweb.
What are the irrelevancies and your profusions about? Who is forcing you to read what or who? Who cares whether you read Nkrumah or not? Who says there are not scientists, mathematicians, lawyers, engineers, teachers, professors, historians and other professionals who write for Ghanaweb?
What has your knowledge, job, library card got to do with me, Nkrumah?
What do I care if you don't clean your private gutters? Do I or my family live with you?
Who cares if you have a million degrees in history?
What has your bogus statement "I AM A STUDENT OF HISTORY" done to the gutters of Ghana, Ebola patients, and mosquitoes?
You are "A MEMBER OF THE BRITISH LIBRARY IN LONDON," so what? Who cares?
What has your being “A MEMBER OF THE BRITISH LIBRARY IN LONDON" got to do with the gutters of Ghana, Ebola patients, mosquitoes, etc?
Who cares about your "I AM A MEMBER OF THE BRITISH LIBRARY"? Are you a kid? Are you a kid who has just been given a colorful library card to play with?
Most of the kids I know in the US have library cards, so what is this infatuation you attach to library cards? And who says you have to have a library card to be knowledgeable or intelligent?
What does your "I AM NOT A WORSHIPPER OF BOOKS AND KNOWLEDGE" got to do with anybody, Nkrumah, or me? What has that got to do with the dirty gutters in Ghana, America, and Britain? Is that not your exclusive headache and your family's exclusive headache?
I worship books and knowledge, so what has that got to do with you or anything? If you don't worship books and knowledge, I do. What can you do about it? NOTHING.
What is more, there are people with library cards who don’t know a damn thing about what is going on in the world. What do you say about that? I had a library card in New York where I lived for years but attended a public library a couple of times! The public library did not even carry the kind of books I wanted to read!
Do you have to share your possession of a library card with the world? How childish?
I don't care a hoot about any of our membership as regards your library card. It is the great ideas of Kwame Nkrumah, what he did for Ghana, Africa, and the world and what our thieving politicians can learn from his ideas that matter the most to me.
Finally, neither Prof. Lungu nor I have said anything about certificates and degrees. And who cares about degrees and certificates? That notwithstanding, Dr. Kofi Kissi Dompere, one of the respected authorities on Nkrumahism, has done a lot for the world with his certificates and degrees.
Go read about Drs. Yaw Nyarko, Francis Allotey, Trebi Ashitey-Ollenu, Thomas Mensah, Isaiah Blankson, Victor Lawrence, Ave Kludze, and hundreds of Africans who have used their certificates and degrees to help Ghana, Africa, and the world? For instance, Dr. Victor Lawrence has used his certificates and degrees to make the phone and the television you use more efficient. Do you know who else has largely contributed to internet services across Africa? Dr. Nii Quaynor! He’s the reason you are using Ghanaweb to make your uncritical commentaries, thanks to his certificates and degrees! Tell me how many Ghanaian gutters, Ebola patients, and patients with malaria have your job and library card cleaned/cured across Africa?
You have a problem. You are hurting for no apparent reason(s). GO AND READ PART 8 of "Dr. Kofi Dompere on Kwame Nkrumah's Scientific Thinking" to see what Prof. Kofi Kissi Dompere has been doing with Nkrumah's ideas and his science, mathematics, economics, philosophy, etc., to help improve American, African, and international institutions (World Bank, etc).
It is childish to come to a public forum like Ghanaweb to boast about library cards. Are you a kid? Do you know how many library cards have? You have library cards, so what?
Aren't there British-born homeless, terrorists, jobless men and women, sick people, school dropouts, thieves, drug users, lazy people, etc., with library cards? Have their library cards got them jobs, cleaned their dirty private gutters, etc? There are American-born homeless men and women, lazy folks, drug users, jobless men and women, sick people, school dropouts, and thieves as well with library cards and still have no clue what to do with their lives? IS A LIBRARY CARD A CERTIFICATE OR A DEGREE?
What is so special about library cards anyway? It is American kids (and kids in general) who make so much noise about library cards! So what is the source of the fascination you attach to library cards?
Are there VERY DIRTY GUTTERS IN NEW YORK and Europe! In other words, aren’t there mosquitoes in Britain? Aren’t there mosquitoes in America? Aren't there dirty gutters in our American subways (as in New York)?
Have you read about the poor sanitary conditions in Southeastern England that breeds mosquitoes (Read Virginia Brown’s “IS THE MOSQUITO MENACE GROWING IN THE UK? BBC NEWS MAGAZINE, APRIL 22, 2011). What did your library card and knowledge do in this case?
Have you read the study “STUDY: UK CITIES BECOMING MOSQUITO-FRIENDLY HABITATS?” (Author: Mark Kinver, BBC News, May 20, 2014?). What is your library card and knowledge doing to address this problem in the UK?
Have you also read “DEADLY MOSQUITOES ‘ARE HEADING TO BRITAIN’—EXPERTS FEAR DISEAS-CARRING BUGS SPOTTED AROUND EUROPE ARE CROSSING CHANNEL” (Daily Mail, Sept. 18, 2014)?
Finally, have you read “MOSQUITOES INCREASE DISEASE RISK IN THE USA” (Author: Doyle Rice, USA TODAY, July 7, 2011)? What are your library card and knowledge doing to reverse this situation in America?
I read a lot to know about these things around the world!
Unfortunately, unlike you and your dead library cards, American scientists are using MATHEMATICAL MODELLING AND SIMULATION, two one of Prof. Dompere’s expertise, to track movement of mosquitoes across the states. Read DOYLE RICE’s article for ADDITIONAL hints. THESE ARE THE SAME METHODS (and several others) THAT DR. KOFI KISSI DOMPERE USES TO EXPLORE THE SCIENTIFIC AND MATHEMATICAL IMPLICATIONS OF NKRUMAH’S GREAT IDEAS AND TO SHOW HOW THEY CAN SOLVE REAL AFRICAN PROBLEMS. Prof. Dompere has used the same methods to handle problems for American institutions, international institutions like the World Bank, and the Organization of American States (OAS).
IT IS CLEAR FROM YOUR RANTINGS THAT YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE BIGGER ISSUES ARE. YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THOERY DOES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SOCIETIES. STUDY BRITAIN AND ALL THE INDUSTRIALIZED COUNTRIES AND EMERGING ECONOMIES TO SEE WHICH ROLES THEORY HAS PLAYED IN THEIR ADVANCEMENT. DEVELOPMENT IS AS MUCH ABOUT THEORY AS ABOUT PRAXIS. THE NATURAL SCIENCES AND THE SOCIAL SCIENCES ARE LIFELESS WITHOUT THEORY, HYPOTHESIS, LAWS (YES, THERE ARE LAWS IN SCIENCE/SOCIAL SCIENCE TOO), ETC. YOU SEE HOW SCIENTISTS ARE USING SIMULATION AND MATHEMATICAL MODELLING TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM OF MOSQUITO SPREAD IN AN ADVANCED COUNTRY LIKE AMERICA.
IN THE END, AMERICAN SCIENTISTS WILL DEAL WITH THE THREAT OF MOSQUITOES WITHOUT CLEANING THEIR DIRTY SUNBWAY GUTTERS. SCIENTISTS, ENGINEERS, PHYSICISTS, COSMOLOGISTS, AND OTHERS HAVE USED COMPUTER PROGRAMMING, MATHEMATICAL MODELLING AND SIMULATION TO MAP OUT SPACE, MAKING IT POSSIBLE FOR YOU TO TALK TO YOUR RELATIVES IN GHANA, AND HERE YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT LIBRARY CARDS?
DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT THEORY HAS DONE FOR THE ASIAN TIGERS? GO TO CHINA, HONG KONG, SOUTH KOREA, JAPAN, TAIWAN, ETC., TO SEE HOW MUCH EMPHASIS THEIR RESEARCH AND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS PLACE ON THEORY (AND PRAXIS)! THEY DON’T SHOUT TO THE REST OF THE WORLD THAT THEY HAVE LIBRARY CARDS AND THAT THEY ARE MEMBERS OF THE BRITISH LIBRARY IN LONDON, WHATEVER THAT MEANS!
AMERICAN MATHEMATICIANS AND SCIENTISTS ARE USING MATHEMATICAL MODELLING AND SIMULATION AS PART OF A LARGER STRATEGY TO DEAL WITH MOSQUITO SPREA AND YOU ARE TAKLING ABOUT LIBRARY CARD.
YOU ARE NOT SERIOUS. Stop implying that someone is forcing you to read Nkrumah. WHO CARES WHETHER YOU READ NKRMAH OR NOT. AT LEAST I DON’T CARE IN THE LEAST. I AM ONLY RESPONDING TO YOUR CHILDISH RANTS BECAUSE I WANT TO GIVE YOU A BETTER EXCUSE TO REPORT TO SCOTLAND YARD THAT A GHANAWEB COLUMNIST IS FORCING YOU TO READ KWAME NKRUMAH AT GUN POINT!
YOU HAVE NO IDEA THE CAILBER OF MEN AND WOMEN (AND INSTITUTIONS) ACROSS THE WORLD WHO ARE READING KWAME NKRUMAH. WE WOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU IF YOU ARE THAT IMPORTANT. LEAVE OTHERS LIKE MY READERS AND I WHO WANT TO READ NKRUMAH TO DO SO. AT LEAST NO ONE IS FORCING US AT GUN POINT! WE KNOW ALL THE IMPORTANT STUDENTS OF HISTORY. STOP DISTURBING OUR EARS WITH YOUR LIBRARY CARD.
MORE ON OSAGEYFO DR. KWAME NKRUMAH IS COMING YOUR WAY. YOU WILL NEED A BULLETPROOF!
HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.

ISSA ABONGO,
Looks like we agree more than we disagree.
We need books and other reading materials, including the modern internet, to solve problems.
Some of the simplest problems to solve are endemic in Ghana because the average person, including many in the "academy", cannot read and/or, have no recourse to the reading materials.
Ideas and solutions, including those historic in character, are more effectively circulated and propagated through books and reading materials.
We have books and have access to a trove of free information on the internet. Many Ghanaians, including policy makers and politicians, are a lot far removed from those resources.

Dear Mankind,
You got the title of Busia's book wrong; it is "AFRICA IN SEARCH OF DEMOCRACY." Mind you, I have read all the writings of Busia. Also remember Busia was not a democrat; he never believed in democracy. What is more, the book’s philosophical foundation represents a total negation of Busia’s central ideas about the question of democracy.
As an aside, I have written a number of pieces on democracy as it pertains to Africa. I didn’t have to use Busia’s or Mandela’s book to do that. On the other hand, I am spending a lot of quality time on Nkrumah because of the “universality” of his ideas and because of the immense scientific and mathematical implications of his great ideas for transforming society.
That said, there is nothing new or worthwhile exploring in "AFRICA IN SEARCH OF DEMOCRACY." I don't waste my time on reading materials that don’t move me. I have always enjoyed reading challenging materials with innovative, provocative, and profound ideas. Give me any profound reading material whose contents I have never come across before and I will profile it for my readership!
Busia’s “AFRICA IN SEARCH OF DEMOCRACY” is an ordinary piece. Very ordinary. It does not even appear on “AFRICA’S 100 BEST BOOKS OF THE 20TH CENTURY,” a collection of Africa’s most influential writings of the past century. Nothing unique about it, Mankind! Once again, unless you have not seriously read it yourself, I will say to you that the book’s central arguments and ideas are too familiar undeserving of my quality time!
First, get Busia's title right, and then second, do a piece on it for others to do read if the book is important to you. It will be boring for me to spend quality time harping on ideas most people are already familiar with.
I am more interested in bigger questions of democracy, technocracy, science, technology, industrialization, national/continental defense systems, continental unity, anti-neocolonialism---the very things that have made other continents great. Busia’s ideas are too simplistic to capture the intellectual complexities of these questions.
Mankind, I use my time for serious materials. I want to concentrate on Nkrumah for now. You should concentrate on Busia if you are so inclined. I can’t be doing everything at the same time. Leave me alone to do what my conscience directs me to do.
And always remember: Africa is not in trouble because of people like me. Africa is in trouble because she does not listen to great thinkers like Nkrumah. Julius Nyerere and other observers have told the world how Europe via the EU has adopted every idea of Nkrumah except his union government, a strategy to make Europe stronger. Go figure!
Have a great weekend!

Good job and common sense approach to issues confronting we Africans. I would suggest you write in simple language anyway though you wanted to be conservative with the terminologies-if one has read ideological books.
I am really impressed about your exploratory journey in search of knowledge and facts through extensive reading. I doff my hat to salute you. The history is a good premise for Africans to dwell upon and model strategies for development; for we have long been to others cap-in-hand.
