Africans want the easy way out but there is no easy way. Praying fasting and dancing in church has never solved any problems for any nation. We pray and fast and speak in tongues more than any nation on earth but we are the most plagued with problems.
Japan, China, Germany etc are using their brains to solve their problems. We want Jesus to solve ours. Noooooo! It's gonna work that way. Which nation has solved their problems with prayer and fasting. Not even Israel.
Science and tech is the way forward. It is the secret to the mystery of the universe. Jesus is not the solution to Ebola. The solution is scientific knowledge.
There is no easy way out. Prayers and tithes and fasting and drumming and dancing has never solved any problems. Accra will never be as clean and orderly as Amsterdam despite all the Sunday worship.
Wake up African, the people who brought us Jesus don't worship him any more. Wake up and smell the stinking gutters of buxom Square.

So what this writer is now trying to tell us is that if we follow the teachings of Christ word for word, the African mind will start behaving like like that of our white counterparts?
That's a load of bullshit, if not racist and she knows it.
The western countries which are primarily whites govern their individual countries by means of constitutions which are followed to the letter.
While it's a fact that most of these countries are christian countries, it's not by virtue of their religion that that they fare better.
I believe the constitution embodies the principles by which a nation is ruled to the best of the abilities of those in power.
Some of the best western constitutions have simple things like 'recall' and 'impeachment' enshrined in them to take care of wayward and corrupt politicians.
One can, therefore, deduce from this that even despite their christian upbringing, they knew human nature can sometimes veer off the hard set path of CHRISTIANITY and can be tempted to do things contrary to accepted norms.
So if for any reason, an elected politician is deemed corrupt or not up to the job he or she was elected to do, the constituent can initiate a recall petition to have him/her removed and a by-election held for a suitable replacement.
In the most serious cases of corruption or abuse of power, some political leaders can be impeached and probably sent to jail if found guilty.
Italy has seen it's fair share of similar cases over the years and isn't it ironic that Angelina should attach 'behaving right' to the Christian religion than anything else.
Which country is more synonymous with Christianity than ITALY?
So Ms. Morrison can rest assured that the white mind is NOT as perfect as she's trying to make us believe.
If we have these in our constitution, then they are clearly NOT being enforced NOT because of the black mind but because we may not know what we are doing and definitely NOT because we don't follow the teachings of the BIBLE verbatim but because of human nature going wayward... and this cuts across racial lines.
They only have a a very stringent way of holding people in power more accountable than we do in Africa and for that matter, Ghana.
In my view the whites succeed where we fail, for lack of nationalism and patriotism.
They will selflessly do anything for their country to succeed.
The love for our country is absent in anything and everything we do as Ghanaians.
Our leaders right after Nkrumah have shown that they lacked that one quality which will translate into them being selfless instead of selfish and greedy, and these have trickled down into the the fabric of the Ghanaian society and psyche over the years.
So Angelina, in my opinion, apart from your article bordering on pure racism, it also missed the actual fact by a very wide margin.
Please come again and prove to me that Africa is failing and failing miserably because of race and religion but NOT because of lack of accountability and hard work on the part of our leaders and even the common man on the street.
Just board a public transport any where in Ghana and you tell me if your ear drums don't get assailed by all those preachers screaming the name of Jesus until their voices turn hoarse.
If I'm not exaggerating, I would even claim that for a small country as ours, we have more gospel singers than the US by land mass.
All these people help propagate the teachings of Christ in every nook and cranny of our country
We know the gospel inside out but until we have a shift in attitude based on accountability and the love of country on everyone's part, we can be Jesus' incarnates and we will still fail.
It takes hard work and not just marathon prayer meetings to make a country be successful.
Sitting on our asses and thinking manna from heaven will fill our streets is pure nonsense.
For all those hours wasted in Church, the white man would have had a lot achieved by running his business or going to work for the non-corrupt government.

First congratulations for realizing that the African mind is the problem in Africa, we are still slaves in our minds, that's why we bleach our skins, covet everything foreign and go to church etc. these are all signs of a people who are deeply lost and confused, we have very little to be proud of, and we contribute very little to real development in this world, we merely consume, we cant even feed ourselves so we instead love "perfumed rice" imported from Thailand.
You rightly claim that the "santaclausian" attempts of the west have failed to improve Africa, so how do you get from there to "Jesus is the answer"???? Are you not aware that right from the beginning Africa's contact with Europe has been our most permanent contact with christianity and jesus??? is Jesus and his whole christian cult not a foreign "santaclausian" attempt to improve Africa?? if the African must develop his mind and break the chains of slavery on his mind is not the belief that God is a Jew, white person or foreign be thrown out before any freedom can be attained?You may say no but you have to accept that the corrupt and lazy mindset we have in Africa has been developed through 500 years of slavery and dominance by Christian, Jesus loving Europeans, who encouraged us to sell to them human flesh and our natural resources. You can disagree that our contact with Christian Europeans did not develop our lazy corrupt minds, but i ask " if this contact has been good for us why are we in this mess?" why are we still selling our raw mineral and natural resources just as we did during the centuries of slavery and colonization? In short, if the African is to free his mind from the shackles of 500 years of christian slavery and colonization we must also throw away their religious and economic burden. Africa cannot rise clinging to foreign religions and economics! the example of Japan is relevant here and China too.
The one thing that brings the biggest smile to my face anytime i hear "Jesus people" talk about their religion is when they accept that there are "wrong" jesus practices out there (just as you have condemned the casual christianity practiced by so many "Jesus people"). Every Jesus person claims their version of christianity and jesus is purer and better than the rest! The methodist is better than the catholic! the evangeligal is better than the pentecostal etc. this lack of unity in a religion that claims to be the one true religion is very disturbing and strengthens my claim for rejecting this farce. you claim we should not throw out the baby with the bath water but in this case the baby doesnt have a permanent form. so what do you accept? Catholic doctrine over Methodist???? which is the right one?
Finally you use some unsavoury phrases to describe your critics, yo talk about frustrations and deep holes that non believers or people who disagree with your one on one Jesus! Angelina, i have never had a clearer mindset and a better life than when i rejected the deity of the Jews and the christ of the romans! i live without fear of death or misfortune, i live well and look after myself better and the mind is faster and clearer. i am in no deep hole in fact i see clearly and have rejected the timid enslaving gospel of jesus, if this Jesus offered my ancestors no reprieve from 400 years of slavery by his beleievers how can he save my life.

and all this writer, who started off with a couple of very good 'brain massaging' articles to get some of us hoodwinked, could do was to settle on a racist monologue with a tint of religion as the 'sidekick' as the reason for our continent's failure.
