After reading this piece, I had the feeling all is not lost yet in Ghana.
If we still have people like Angelina who can string sentences into thoughts and make this much sense, then I'm at a loss as to why Ghana finds herself in this state, 57 years after independence because I think we have many Angelinas across the breadth and length of this beloved nation who can make us see our evil ways of doing things in our personal, professional and political lives.... and possibly change for the better.
Of course I know it takes more than being able to string sentences together to be able to run a country well... but the analogy I was trying to make here was that with even just a fifth of the population in possession of a good thinking process as illustrated here by Angelina's example, why are we failing and failing so miserably in the governance of the nation irrespective of which party or people/person are/is power?
In my opinion, a failure in the governance of a country creates a fertile breeding grounds for all forms of social evils and what we are seeing today in Ghana is the manifestation of these societal evils.
Breakdown of law and order:
* no accountability at all levels.
* brazen disregard for the law.
Any society which doesn't have any semblance of law and order is bound to fail. Period!
Ironically, the writer hit the nail right on the head:
"Agree or disagree, our major problem in this country is a moral one. It is why we have and will continue to travel at such slow pace. Before anybody concludes that the argument being made is superficial; speak to a skilled accountant about concepts like creative accounting. While internal controls may exist, any knowledgeable crook of an accountant can still bilk an organisation. As another exercise, speak to men of the cloth who have the Bible, and some bold ones will divulge how they can use the same book to deceive the flock. Perhaps, from a relatively advantaged position of being quite educated, my conclusions have usually converged at the fixed point that theories and systems alone are insufficient. What we in Africa in particular are skilled at doing is getting around the rules. We neither keep the ones we have, nor come up with better ones that will advance our cause".
Although, I'm the biggest proponent of good education because education made me who I am today... I have a profession that I'm good at and the education I received in Ghana has paid off and is still paying off handsomely... a living testimony in my own mind what a good education can do to transform a person's life, the current crop of the well-educated who went into Ghanaian politics are giving 'GOOD EDUCATION' what I will loosely term a "black eye" ... that is if they already haven't.
So be it in our personal, professional or political(ruling elites), if one doesn't have the moral aptitude and fortitude to do what is right, something is bound to go wrong sooner or later no matter how much one tries to mask or hide it.
Thank you, Angelina for this piece!!!!

And this is rather unfortunate. I suggest you hold your sermons until the case is presented in a court of law. What will you say if it turns out the accuser is lying? Remember, an HIV ambassador is even denying he tested positive for the virus although she had been taken medication to safe her life from HIV. This is not going to be a cake walk for the prosecution and I doubt the accused will survive a blistering cross examination.
