It is very wicked of this Dr. SAS to portray Okoampa as though he is a petty thin skinned person who went to his professional board to get him sacked for merely insulting or disagreeing with him. A lot of people on Ghanaweb have called Okoampa terrible things, all designed to knock him off from writing his articles, but none had elicited the kind of response Dr. SAS is attributing to Okoampa. I wonder why?
What you guys don't know is the scores of people who have also tried in vain to get Okoampa fired from his job. Dr. SAS would have done more wicked things towards Okoampa, besides mere insults, which he is not disclosing here, to have moved Okoampa to take the action that he took. Like they say, you tend to think it is no big deal when a mishap is on your neighbour. Certain people, and Ghanaweb has plenty of them, are so egocentric they tend to think the world revolves around them and all should bend towards their will. Of such you can only dismiss as emotionally unbalanced. Go ask Okoampa, the number of people who have tried to get him fired, to the extent some brazen fools, even physically went to his office to take him out. Did you hear him whimpering about it. Ètua wo nyonko ho'a wose etua eduam. Freedom of expression is available to all, you don't have to agree with someone's opinion, for they are entitled to their opinion nonetheless. That is why even in the US, the KKK are allowed the right of assembly, expression and opinion, no matter how unpalatable they may be.

SAS is not a proper doctor and should stop deluding himself with that tittle. He will surely go down as the most disgraceful and deceptive attorney on this web. In the first place one would want to know how long he stayed in the classroom to obtain his so called Juris Doctor degree which has got him carried away with his daily balderdash. Now let him read these facts about Juris Doctor degree and come clean:
"The JD Degree
The Juris Doctor (JD) degree is required to practice law in the United States. It is considered the first degree in law. The JD degree is offered by American Bar Association (ABA)-approved law schools, by law schools that are not ABA-approved, and by many Canadian law schools.
A bachelor's degree is required for admission into a JD program.
The LSAT is an integral part of the law school admission process in the United States, Canada, and a growing number of other countries.
The JD program is generally a three-year, full-time academic program." Period.
The requirement for JD program is first degree from any field of study and not too different from the law school in Legon, Ghana. I want SAS to tell us if he is the only guy with the JD title here in the US? Yet you hardly see any practicing attorney in the state bragging and throwing his weight about like this arrogant braggart who thinks having a JD degree is the best thing that ever happened to mankind. You fool anyone. No wonder he write articles and pass comment to same using other moniker. Shame !

While Okoampa can be obnoxious, this writer is clearly deceiving the public about his qualifications. In the US, JD is a first professional qualifying degree, never a research doctorate in law just because there is the word "doctor" in its name. The American equivalent of the PhD in Law is the JSD, short for Scientiae Juridicae Doctor, which means someone who is skilled in the scientific enquiry and teaching of law.
I think it is important to explain what the word "doctor" means. It comes from the Latin word "docere" (to teach) and was first used by the Catholic Church as a title of distinction for people dedicated to theological scholarship and teaching. Later the title was extended to people engaged in similar endeavours in other disciplines.
It is important to note that in centuries past many practitioners of the professions were also involved in teaching their art to their apprentices. In fact, this was the only formal route for becoming say a medic or a lawyer. It thus also became common for the term "doctor" to also be applied to the masters of these professions.
With time, however, some sort of specialisation took place in the professions, practice became divorced from teaching and research, with the latter subject to more rigorous requirements of scientific investigation in their training.
This is where legal practitioners lost the title "dr", but the title continued to be used for medical practitioners as the combination of practice and scholarship continued for much longer in this profession.
Once the separation of practice and scholarship occurred, medical practitioners too lost the title "Dr" in many jurisdictions, although in many other places "Dr" continued to be used as a term of honour only, something like an honourary PhD, in part because the training of medics involves scientific enquiry and represents significant life achievement. But strictly speaking, medical practitioners without PhDs are NOT doctors. Nor, are lawyers with professional degrees, whatever the name, be bit JD or BL.

Trust them to find something to hang on in attacking Dr. SAS. If JD means doctor of law and the man chooses to be affix the "Dr" tag to his name, whether out of vanity or what not is besides the point, so long as it be convincingly proven that those with JD don't qualify to affix that title to their names. I haven't read of any such proof, educative as some of the postings are.
The main problem of many criticising SAS here is that he has incurred their wrath by not identifying with the ethnocentric mainstream NPP which he also belongs. Yeah! A party in which key leaders urged their supporters to kill fellow Ghanaians, as if some people will just fold their hands and allow themselves to be massacred! Or, even insulted regularly, as we see on Ghanaweb.
We shall see!

I am equally amazed at the attacks on Adjei Sarfo who I know very personally as someone who taught English Language in Ghana. Those who call him pompous and arrogant should bow their heads in shame because some do not even know him. Students he taught at Asokore-Koforidua can attest to that. He is very affable.
Whether DJ means Doctorate degree in law is irrelevant. There are many in government in Ghana who call prefix Dr. to their names but do not have even a first degree. Some lecturers at UCC, Legon and Tech in the late 80s had to run away when it was discovered they did not have any such degrees. Others too have Honorary ones which they use. What about that.
I know Okoampah and Adjei Sarfo are all NPP members while the latter's elder sister of blessed memory was a very strong NDC member and also a member of OBRA drama group which was just an arm of NDC at that time. If really Okoampah wrote for Sarfo to be punished after struggling through the system for a possible little disagreement, then that is unfortunate. Well, I know Ghanaians are capable of doing worse things. Sarfo was lucky Okoampah did not use a fake name in his letter for his punishment. If anything at all, Asiakwa where Okoampah is from is not far from Koforidua Effiduase where Adjei Sarfo hails from. Why not help each other so long as your activities do not contravene the laws of USA? Merry X'mas to Adjei Sarfo and Okoampah.

Trust me, I'm a doctor of law
Mar 1st 2013, 20:32 BY S.A.P. | LOS ANGELES
Timekeeper
A LAWYER, a professor, and a physician walk into a bar. As they (predictably) begin to argue over drinks, the lawyer leans over the table and pulls out his trump card: “I'm right. Trust me, I’m a doctor.” The professor and physician are left speechless.
The lawyer isn’t wrong, strictly speaking. The American law degree is the Juris Doctor, literally “doctor of law”. The change from LLB (bachelor of laws) and LLM (master of laws) reflected a different approach to legal education stateside. As the modern incarnation of an older European doctorate, the new JD was intended to provide only professional preparation as a follow-up to a primary degree, usually from a liberal arts program. JDs were confined to the United States until about 15 years ago. JD programs have been popping up in other countries since.
The translation of the degree name is clear, but more sticky is whether a lawyer can properly refer to himself as a doctor. In America, “doctor” is commonly reserved for medical doctors and academics who hold a PhD (doctor of philosophy) degree. Holders of EdD (doctor of education) or PsyD (doctor of psychology) degrees might also be addressed as doctors. Some prefer the use of “doctor” to be limited to those with MD (doctor of medicine) degrees. Still, it’s standard American practice to call professors and physicians doctors. It’s rare to hear a lawyer addressed the same way.
The American Bar Association (ABA), which publishes model rules on professional ethics for lawyers, is unclear about whether lawyers can use the title Dr. There is a general prohibition on misleading potential clients, but the rules don’t address the specific “doctor” question. Some state ethics committees have stepped in where the model rules haven’t. Given the patchwork of state and national rules, lawyers intent on calling themselves doctors must check their local rules. For example, in Texas, lawyers couldn’t call themselves “doctor” until nine years ago. The state ethics committee reversed course in 2004, allowing the use of “doctor” as long as it wasn’t misleading—as, say, in an advert for medical malpractice law.
But if potential clients don’t know that JD degrees denote doctors of law, any use of Dr without an MD or PhD degree could be misleading. More important, calling lawyers doctors is silly and pedantic. Some argue that lawyers don’t “deserve” the title of doctor because their course of study is shorter and less rigorous than those of physicians or academics—or even SJD (doctor of juridical science) recipients. That misses the point. American lawyers are indeed a sort of doctor by degree, but the title Dr carries a specific meaning that is common and well-understood. The title Esq (esquire), if a bit stuffy, does the job without misleading anyone. Ethics boards might be flexible, but common sense is less so.

Well, madam, let's get your potshot at me out of the way, shall we? Mine is from an Ivy, consistently ranked among the world's top 5, and obtained my masters from two other world class schools. Still, I have enough humility to acknowledge that there are some PhDs from lesser known schools who are equally brilliant.
Now, on the substantive issue, there are qualitative differences between different schools, such as on the demands of rigour and originality. But in terms of title, which is what the article we are commenting on is about, I repeat a PhD is still a PhD, wherever you obtained it. You cannot say someone who holds a PhD cannot put it against their name because they obtained it at a lesser known school or from a weaker programme.

ITEM: There is little balance, value, reflection, or masterly with respect to public policy, professionalism, or human decency there.
Way back in 2008, we called Dr. Okoampa-Ahoofe the Ghanaweb "Chief Blabbermouth". He had written a piece about us in another publication that we did not contribute, or even read on a regular basis. In fact, another person told us about the piece in that "foreign" publication.
That Dr. Okoampa will, in 2014, attempt to have you censured, or disbarred, from the practice of law in Texas for issues clearly unrelated to a case you have handled, (or corruption), goes to prove the point we demonstrated back in 2008.

TITEL: Chief Blabbermouth Attempts Projection and Distortion!
"....Unlike Nana Amma Obenewaa, we do not believe that Ghanaweb’s chief blabbermouth, though a scholar, (he tells us he has multiple degrees) is an intellectual, and a useful one at that. We base our assessment on his record on Ghanaweb and reported activities. This blabbermouth is notorious for neglecting to discuss policy, choosing instead to thrive on trivialities and useless discourse. He sounds neurotic and is at once pathological – happy at blaming “…an Accra newspaper” for having been “…unceremoniously bounced off…on the purely political account of (his) ardent support for the candidacy of…Akufo-Addo…” There is no intellectualization there (given that he admits every thing is connected to everything). This busybody is absolutely unable to separate his emotions from the collection of disparate ideas in his head. In the present circumstance, the bnabbermouth even neglected to explain what his idol says and intends to do with the Freedom of Information (FOI) bill...."
Stay strong, Dr. SAS. We value your essays, when you have time to write to Ghanaweb.

All you have to do is refer the office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel of the State Bar of Texas to demented and dysfunctional Okoampa-ahoofe's daily garbage articles on Ghanaweb and other Ghana related websites, and they will quickly notice that they're dealing with a serial liar and a certified lunatic called Okoampa-Ahoofe. Ahoofe may possess a PhD, but he still remains a miseducted fool with no academic susbstance. Ahoofe is a serial liar who also happens to be a prolific writer of daily garbage articles that simply show him as lunatic waving a bottle of prozac. All the education that was wasted on Ahoofe has not helped in any way to calm his psychosis. Poor Ahoofe also happens to be an escapee from a mental asylum.

I know PhDs are awarded and can be withdrawn once you do something that puts the awarding institution in a bad light. Which institution awarded this tribal biggot a PhD? He has nothing good to offer our fledging democracy.

Reading this piece of junk reminds me of the narcissistic temperament of the blackman, always putting himself over and above everybody else. Who in this forum likes Okoampa Ahoofe? I can assure you that majority of people who frequent here do not like his world view of issues he writes about, because despite always flaunting his phd. around, I personally believe he is cognitively adrift and perhaps a complete idiot.
Your long winding diatribe against Okoampa Ahoofe reveals lack of sophistication on your part and narcissistic tendencies, which makes Ahoofe looks like a saint. Those of us who are enlightened can sense your vulnerability - I mean, your lack of confidence in yourself, and in your vocation. All intellectuals of substance write to educate and enlighten their audience, but not to destroy. You have done a great disservice to yourself and your vocation. You are just another Ghanaian phd.
Like Donald Trump, calling Okoampah an orangutan is a insult to their family of species.
That stupid fool, SAS is a total disgrace to the people of Ghana.

Sarfo, after reading your piece, you come across as a pompous half-baked educated person. Your response shows a warped mind wrapped in self-importance!
