The military can only be called to assist the police in law enforcement by government in cases like armed robbery and times of national emergency. The military feeds on the hypocrisy and docility of Ghanaians. We are ready to kiss up anyone we fear and we fear the military for who they are: brutal, raw and miseducated.

You said it all. Brutalising defenceless civilians including students is a favourite sport of Ghana army. They do this all the time because no one holds them accountable for their senseless acts of brutality.

The mere fact that Bagabaga College of Education was established in 1944, and was one of the oldest educational institutions in northern Ghana, disproves the myth being peddled around that Nkrumah introduced Education into the North. This has been expressed implicitly or explicitly over the years, and one Nkrumahist even said that Northerners should pray for his soul every day for making it possible for them to be able to read and write and to understand the need to put on clothes.
The truth is that, Western Education had been introduced into the North long before Kwame Nkrumah became Prime Minister of the Gold Coast, and Northern leaders like S.D Dombo, Jato Keleo, B.K Adama, Tolon Naa, Bawumia and many others might have completed their education and started careers long before Nkrumah was brought to the Cold Coast from the UK to serve as General Secretary of the group that was fighting for our independence. It was, therefore, disappointing to see Mr. Mahama plying dirty politics by honouring Nkrumah where he should not have been honoured at all because; Kwame Nkrumah did not have anything to do with the establishment of BAC. By his action, Mr. Mahama is deliberately perpetuating the myth that Nkrumah civilized Northers by introducing Education to them.
Even the much talked about free education in in the North that Mr. Mahama himself enjoyed was initiated and put forward for adoption by Mr. S.D Dombo, as a bargain or political horse trading to accept Nkrumah's unitary state proposal, and not any humanitarian initiative by Nkrumah to further enlighten Northern Ghanaians.

Ghanaians always praise the armed force for their brutalities but quick to condem the police for using little force to control situation. How can we say the armed force is a discipline institution when their heads always defend all their bad deeds but attack the police who's heads comes out to condemn their men when they wrong the civilians. Sit and read the numerous coup d'etat that has happened in the country and you realised how the armed force has let the country down. How can few soldiers move from Volta region to Accra and overthrow a government with their headquarters in Accra.

An eye witness indeed! What's e extent of e student's destruction? You think the military went there because they had nothing to do, abi. Similar nonsense happened at Nandom, outcome several blocks burnt; at Bolga a student died. You should grateful of the military presence. If the police could handle the situation they wouldn't have invited the military. If your people had been least law abiding including yourself the military would have been happier being in their barracks with their families instead sleepless nights making sure you and your conform.
