It is only in Ghana that a political party and a group of people will entertain a group like IMANI and its leadership. What has IMANI done in Ghana to warrant recognition? They are only an appendage of a political party. As you said, they have criticized every initiative coming from the government. Is this group a think-tank? It is only propably fools and illiterates who will recognize IMANI. Sometimes my colleagues here in the US who read their comments with me ask if IMANI is not an opposition party. Meanwhile, I have not heared or read a single thing including research that they have done to help even primary school pupils. Anyway, I don't blame them because they have sponsors who give them money to pay the various media houses to publish ever stupid statement that comes out from their big stomachs. IMANI is useless political wing.

Your comment I must confess is worth reading but it is unfortunate that the guys who are handling these Northing Devt issues have lost credibility with the pple. I 've read the full comment of Imani but I think that having 6 Aerodromes in Ghana will not be a bad idea but I believe we must set our priorities right. Promising universities only to build one block only for the next Govt to build to appreciable standards is nothing but a short- change. There are a lot of basic infrastructure deficit in the north which is begging for attention.Airports are good but cant we think of irrigating these arable lands to give these teeming youth the needed means of livelihood before issues like airport should come into play ?Maybe just maybe the criticism of Imani may be too harsh but NDC govt is not helping matters. We've lots of immediate problems like getting fresh water for human beings and livestock good basic schools for the northern child, good and motor able roads for the length and breath of the country. Probably the weight of these matters are the driven force of imani' s criticism. Nest pas ?

Franklin Cudjoe and Imani, think tank, hahahaha. If this govt even construct all the roads in Ghana, they will say, the govt has spread human excreta on the roads. Just forget about them and do your work, finito.

As far as I am concerned, IMANI never had any sound credibility in this country. However, I also dont think that we need, or we should have an international airport at Tamale. At this point in our socio-economic development, it would be a superfluous enterprise to undertake.
International Airports are not built for fancy or ethnic reasons. They are expensive to build and even more expensive to manage on a day-to-day basis. Sometimes I even wonder if the main International airport in Accra makes enough money (IGF) to sustain itself. That, an international airport in Tamale may succeed in generating sufficient funds to become viable and to manage itself, can only be considered a joke for now.
As a people, we have not even managed to get our act together as far as managing airports are concerned. the airport in Accra which has had the distinction of being an international airport even before our independence is a joke. Every facility, in and outside the main building of that airport beaks down frequently - and this includes the so-called automated car park system. This is not helped much by idle, grumpy and seemingly over-worked car park attendants who cross their arms in despair and do not raise a finger to stabilize the situation when chaos takes over the car park.
Goro boys have swarmed the arrival perimeter and continue to harass arriving passengers with offers to push their trolleys or find taxis for them. On the exit of arriving passengers, the entire place is reduced to pandemonium with these goro boys jostling for vulnerable passengers and pestering them for unsolicited jobs. Sometimes two or three giro boys can fight over rights of assisting on passenger. The scenes at the arrival perimetr of the Accra airport is so Third World that the least said the better.
Talking about taxis, it costs sometimes about three times as much to use the airport registered taxis to get to ones destination. A journey in Accra that normally costs about GHC10.00, can cost you about GHC30.00 from the airport. I understand that the reason is that the airport authorities charge them hefty commissions to be registered there as an airport taxi.
Even the minimum cost of parking your car at the airport car park for one hour, is more than the daily minimum wage of the average Ghanaian. Does this make sense?
Sometimes I have wondered if anybody is truly in charge at the Accra Airport?
And yes, back to the original subject, can we imagine what the situation would be like if there was an international airport at Tamale? Even the periodic wars between various tribal or ethnic factions does not encourage the construction of an international airport at Tamale.
So yes, I grudgingly back IMANI on this one.

Is not that the move upgrade Tamale airport is bad for IMANI because NDC is doing it they see nothing good. Imagin if this upgrading is being taking by NPP that is when you hear praises. IMANI is simple baise period.

We live in a country where the only way to be popular is to be always criticizing government. It is an irony. How could someone condemn the expansion of the Tamale airport to an international airport. It is difficult to understand this. Countries far less than Ghana in size have more than one international airport. We are always talking about expanding other cities in Ghana. How can we achieve this without expanding our transport infrastructure. IMANI seems to be jack of all trades and proving to be master of none. You talk about it and they tell you we have been ranked as one of the best think-tanks in the world. Huh! NGO academics whose findings are known even before the start of the research. God saves Ghana!!

At the basic levels of science we have come to know and understand is the effects of the environment on species. This fact is not lost on industries that market products to the various racial makeup in industrialized nations. On what basis do organizations in Ghana get to qualify as intellectual think tanks? I dare say that 99percent of thesis and dissertations written by Ghanaians are of no value to Ghana in the immediate or long-term future because they bore no originality or relevance to events and climatic conditions in Ghana. Anyone who thinks known and proven economic theories yield the same level of measures in Ghana as in functioning full fledged democracies is as delusional as the next undereducated person. The same is true for our intellectuals who have not come to grips with the realities that there are no abundance of credible literature in any field of study that can he used as basis for thinks tanks in Ghana to justify their existence except for the cheerleading roles they offer to their respective puppet masters that pay their bills. Franklin Cudjoe and his bunch of intellectual paperweights cannot point to research work that can withstand environmental scrutiny in Ghana because all writeup and respective research advisors never saw a topics of originality that would make them look good except for those topics that offer the regurgitation of facts, graphical and statistical extrapolations. Is it not funny how in Ghana our rich who have never manufactured and or exported completed entities cry wolf with every fall in the value of the cedi when a fall in the value of the cedi would be boon for exporting Ghanaian goods. Yes we cry like spoilt brats because weve become a consumer nation incapable of feeding ourselves even as some are proud showing off the number foreign nations they've vusited.
