All he is saying is that Dr Botway COULD get us a good deal as he has the experience and he is now a CENTRIST . What he says wrong is that we social democrats are Rightists. We are left of centre . It is the conservative, traditionalists and the KKK that are rightists . Ghana has gone to the IMF , so let us wait to see what happens . BUT we need to DIVERSIFY the economy and start manufacturing. Will individuals entrepreneurs accept the challenge or will it be State . Private entrepreneurs in Ghana and Africa have been a BIG faiure which poses a dilemma . Do we wait for them or do we adopt State intervention?

Do beggars have choices? No and never. Forget the fact that he Kwesi Botchwey have had past experiences with the IMF, that institution does not "bow to the borrowers demand". If we can persuade the IMF to "go easy" on us, why did we create the mess in the first place then call them to come to our aid?
Our problems are "man-made" and I am praying for the IMF to this time, throw a hanging noose around our neck just to make lives extremely unpleasant for us to test our resolve if we can learn something this time.

It is stunningly sad to refer to K A Gbedema as an outstanding finance minister. Dr Kwame Nkrumah,in blessed memory, will cringe in his grave if he could hear that.

SAP as it was called in those days. It was touted as the best in the world and in so doing our manufacturing base was decimated by selling off most of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah's factories. SAP 1&2. This may be the final SAP. I expect Ghana Commercial Bank, Agricultural Development Bank, PMMC to be in the group of companies to be targeted. It is on record that China has accumulated thousands of tons of gold to back her currency and the Gold Coast, the second largest producer of gold in Africa, does not own a mine. We are happy collecting 3% royalties and taxes and cry at the same time for a depreciating cedi. I will encourage Dr. Botchway to sell us down the river, we deserve it.
