Philip, you're so right about the role Rawlings and his P/NDC have played in our political history. I believe Kwame Nkrumah's book : Dark Days in Ghana refers in part to the 19 lost years of the Rawlings evil rule and in part to the 6 years of misrule by the NDC, 2008-2014.
Akuffo Addo is not the reason why the NPP has lost 2 back to back elections in Ghana, 2008, 2012. Remember that the NDC is a grassroots party and besides they are experts in stealing and rigging elections. Their supporters base is an amalgation of all those pea sized brains who have been made to believe JJR is a cult figure and they are the under class, the marginalized of society . The NDC leadership have over the years pursued a vigorous divide and rule stratagem/class warfare which has worked well for them. Most of all they have perfected an almost impregnable election rigging and vote buying system that thrive because our state institutions are too biased and under-resourced to check the numerous malpractices that take place. They also use thuggery/violence and intimidation to achieve their diabolical schemes. There's no sophiscation about Asiedu Nketiah but he is very savvy about winning elections . The 2016 election is 2 years away but that's how far they're ahead of their competitors. The president had his eyes fixated on the coming elections when he donated 13 four wheelers to the National House of Chiefs and promised to distribute sanitary pads to SHS girls . They're miles ahead of their closest rivals and if the NPP don't hasten to close the deficiency gap and get their act together they will only remain paper tigers and will continue to play second fiddle to the NDC as far as winning elections is concerned. In spite of the poor work history of the NDC in the business of governance and managing the economy they will continue to make nonsense of every pre-election forecast, Akuffo Addo or no Akuffo Addo .

These two parties are the worst for Ghana but people are too dumb to notice.
How can you vote for people who just sell state owned assets and acquire foreign loans??
Are the citizens of this country really clued up?.?

I think, ghanaians must be educated well to vote on policies but not on personalities,a president been tick tall will not put food on your table and money in your pocket, but rather we should vote for some with vision and common sense to help his nation and not any greedy tick tall fellow.i also think business men, literates and some influential personalitie should be given a special vote during elections, because it is really unfair for an illiterate who doesnt even know how the economy is moving to choose a president for u.

WE WERE ALL WITNESS TO HOW SOME OF THEM IN GOVERNMENT BECAME MILLIONAIRES OVERNIGHT.
WE SHOULD VOTE INTO POWER A PARTY OTHER THAN NPP OR NDC OR WE SHOULD THINK IN THE LONG-TERM TO DO AWAY WITH PARTY SYSTEM OF GOVERNMENT.

All his life Nana Addo has had everything he wanted. He dropped out of Oxford for no good reason. He is arrogant and has a sense of entitlement. Even the way he walks suggests he is full of himself and his body language is extremely off putting. NPP should have never chosen him as flag bearer because he thinks it is his right to be president! The only solution will be for him to lose miserably in 2016, for Ghanaians to suffer even more and then for NPP to come to power in 2020
you foooool go and learn history.
Thank you.
