All the indiscipline on our roads is due to the lack of enforcement not driver misbehavior. All over the world drivers would misbehave if they got the opportunity like is happening in Ghana. In UK or US, if you flout the traffic rule and not caught you will feel shaken for a number of days.
To start with the police have little knowledge of traffic policing. And due to corrupt mentality the police turn their duty into a money making venturing: doing every unimaginable and unethical thing to extort money from the driver! Even if all your papers are correct they can accuse you of not having a torch!!!

So long as the police do not enforce traffic laws but only interested in collecting bribes, the death toll will continue to rise. There will be no discipline without enforcement.

Ghana's state of near lawlessness and the high level of indiscipline are the causes of such unnecessary accidents that result in innocent road users and passengers being maimed and killed senselessly.

The indiscipline in Ghana is right from the top to bottom.
Take for instance the President, just look at the way the Sports Ministry and the GFA messed up our preparetion participation at the World Cup,yet the Minister and his Deputy has been reasigned without any consequance.
Everybody in Ghana knows, nobody is held responsible for what they do,being it wrong or right,so everybody is doing what he/she feels like doing fearing no consequance.
A law without enforcement is no law at all.
The Ghanaian law enforcer will rather take bribe, than to enforce the law, after all he/she fears no consequance.
It is so sad how politicians are raping Ghana, and slowly but surely moving Ghana to a banana republic.

THIS MAKES IT HARD FOR THEM TO UNDERSTAND THE NUMEROUS ROAD SIGNS.THIS SHOULD CHANGE. ALL APPLICANT FOR DRIVERS LICENCE SHOULD BE MADE TO TAKE A WRITTEN TEST AND PASS IN ADDITION TO ROAD TEST.MTU POLICE SHOULD BE GIVING CITATION FOR ALL TRAFFIC OFFENCES AND DRIVERS RECEIVING CERTAIN NUMBER OF CITATIONS SHOULD ATTEND TRAFFIC SCHOOL, TOO MUCH CITATION MAKES A DRIVER UNSAFE TO OPERATE A VEHICLE AND LICENCE SHOULD BE SUSPENDED OR REVOKED
