I know the fanatics will come here and disagree with you because, for some reason, they have finally found out the "real" tape again and it was doctored. I don't know where was the tape when Ayariga confirmed what the President said.
But Kwaku, does it really matter when whether he used "Kumasifuo" or "Asantifuo" or "Some people" So to Mahama, the President of the Nation, it is about "we and them" and this what some fanatics are defending. Tweeaa.
And don't forget the Music he was dancing to while in uttering these words " Yentie Obia, Mentie Obia, ye nea wo ho beto wo" What a President! The President with his AKUTIA to those in Ashanti Region, in other words or as we say it here, "go f**k yourself or you can kiss my black arse"
This is the President of Ghana.

the problem with this northern mentality is that thanks to jj they now all have an unquenchable thirst for power but never to serve in a team or accept their fellow countrymen . just look around in Accra and study the majority of the businesses owned by these northerners and in the majority of the medium and Small sized businesses you notice they only employ their fellow northerners and practically never employ an Akan . Today in Accra the largest religious building in the country will be the mosque being build on our national park at Nima donated by Turkey confirming the Islamic domination of Ghana. Tribalism mixed with chauvinism and despotism from the north has now equaled the hegemony of the ewes . A.C.C.R.A any criminal can roam about so we have them everywhere now . even at the scholarship secretariat hardly ever is an Akan awarded the privilege to go abroad and study now . The Akans are the majority but because most continue to sleep or blindly trust the other tribes these atrocities are taking place . We look at the political strategy of the NDC and see the typical Hannibal wench when he turned the strengths of the mighty Roman army against themselves as they are doing to the Akans . From the south they use part of the Fantis and from the North the Brongs , from behind we have the chariot onslaught of the Gas Ewes Krobos. Yes the political landscape reflects a war which is only meant to destroy the right of self governance of the God's chosen nation of Africa the Akan . For them its a big deal who leads the NPP but we really don't care as our movement grows stronger by the hour as more and more Akans wake up to reality of this dire situation . We did not ask for this war but we will fight it and be victorious as God is with us . Long live the Republic of Akan

I just cannot understand why Ghanaian politicians believe that the people or the electorate should be grateful to them for bringing them development projects, when that is what they campaigned for and asked for the mandate of the voters to deliver. Again, when the funds for the projects are taxes from the sweat and toil of the people.
I stated in my article that Mahama's accusation against Kumasi is not supported by the evidence because Mahama/NDC increased their percentage share of the total votes in the Asante Region, including Kumasi in the 2012 presidential election and therefore he is the one who is being ungrateful to the Kumasi.

I am really disappointed in all those making this the most important issue of the day. As we are all entitled to our opinions, let me state mine. Am I missing something here? Have all of you been following the daily insults against President Mahama that his government should show one, just one project it has undertaken since he and his NDC Party came into office, when some of these projects are right under their noses? These comments frustrate even the best behaved at times, even the President of Ghana. The people of Ghana deserve to ask for better management of their country by those in power. The good people of Ghana don't seem to be getting that at this stage from the NDC government. However, the hyper-partisan and shrill nature of our political dialogue makes any impassioned discussions difficult.
Should the President have said what he said in Kumasi? No. Due to the heightened level of political partisanship in the country, the President’s comments, especially since he was making those comments in Kumasi, were not helpful. On the other hand were they earth shattering? I personally don’t think so. To go the extent of accusing the President of dividing the nation because of this, is a bit overboard. Insulting the people of Kumasi? Really? The President said this to his supporters imploring them not to be discouraged by this lack of appreciation by sections of our society. Yes the money used to provide amenities come from public coffers and obviously not from the President’s pocket. The President by saying this was not asking for people to be dancing in the streets and singing his praises. This idea that everything in our dear country should be viewed through an ethnic/tribal prism even by people who should know better is dangerous. Those of us who are interpreting what the President said in this light are also not helping the situation.
I agree with all the issues raised in this piece about corruption and the need to provide for the felt needs of our people. The lack of focus and the display of incompetence by government appointees are all issues I share and more than willing to contribute my quota in that regard.
I pray to God for Him to grant me a few more years of life on this to see what the next NPP government would look like. They have forgotten so soon that they were also thrown out of Government in 2008 and lost again in 2012 for a reason. I can’t wait !!!!!

Mr, John Mahama as NDC's Communication Director in opposition criticized Kufuor strongly on almost every policy and complained that the govt has failed the people, even though some people believed otherwise. Kufuor built Bole-Bamboi road but Gonjas voted against the NPP. People from the North benefited from NYEP, NHIS, LEAP, Capitation and other developmental projects under Kufuor's regime, majority of the people said they were not enough.
The single most expensive project in the Volta Region (Keta Sea Defence) was carried out under Kufuor's NPP govt but Kufuor was not shown "gratitude" by Ewes and the people of Keta and Ho. Were all these groups subjected to insults by Kufuor and NPP, even though Kumasi contributes more of the nation's revenues and resources?
We have our tribal and political differences but it is very bad and nonsensical for the President of Ghana to exploit our tribal differences because of electoral votes. I agree totally with the writer that President Mahama was being mischievous and calculating. He was subtly inciting other tribes against Asantes and he must be condemned by every well-meaning Ghanaian.
If he expects gratitude by people in the Ashanti Region because of these "measly" projects, then I'm afraid we have a very visionless and mediocre President to say the least. I am highly disappointed in him!!!

These guys with no cause aspire for political office with no clue as to what they want to do for their country. They assume office hoping to rely on the existing tired and opaque structures to deliver disparate facilities that are mandated by the Constituion. They bring nothing to the table to create wealth and to drive the nation up the development ladder.
They are only interested in the perks that the office brings. They make no conscoius effort to project into the future. Hence they go on borrowing sprees, saddling future generations with debt; yet expect to be praised.
A time will come our natural resources will become depleted. A time will come we will not receive the incomes we are getting from our natural resources. Yet who is looking far into the future to ensure that other economic activities fill the void to be created? No one.
So instead of the strategic policies required, we have a President who feels the public purse is his private possession and that people should be grateful if he sends some their way. This is the most serious indictment rather than the insult. His idea of development is a refurbished airport runway (not upgrading to international status); refurbished 20km road (not completing the interchange meant to improve traffic management); and a factory to produce shoes for the military (doubt even if the military would use the products).
Ghanaians have to wise up. We have enough resources for a lift off, only if we can elect able, competent and visionary politicians. The likes of Mahama have never had any burning desire to change their societies. You can see such people by examining their lives and the causes they have fought.

It is one thing to speak against the president while doing so on a principled stand but it is another when people talk and take cheap shot at the president of Ghana for telling an obvious and irrefutable truth. Can Asare and Dr. K list just 5 events since 2009 when a politician, local or national, or any NPP youth organizer in Kumasi or the Ashanti region has given credit to the NDC for a project, programme or initiative? The amazing thing about Ghana is that we have allowed tribal animus to blind us to the point we refuse to do right by our respective communities. We would rather wallow in filth and misery just to "show" the party in power; oh how cowardly and unprincipled we’ve become. So while the rich can get medical attention from anywhere they please they’ve convinced a bunch of “sheep” not to participate in the NHIS and they followed.
These are the very leaders and their following "sheep" who are claiming to be insulted because the president dare to tell them an NDC administration could pave road in gold in the Ashanti region and would the effort would go unappreciated; go figure.

Clearly, President Mahama's political insinuation, the choice of insinuating lyrics of Daddy Lumba's song, his behaviour and attitude towards the residents of Kumasi is beneath the dignity of the Office that he occupies. It's very important that as the country's President, John Mahama's statements and political address to both the NDC faithful and the nation should be above such petty and divisive politics.
