You make a case against racism but your entire premise is rooted in anti-Asian and anti-European racism.
When are you (or we for that matter) going to take responsibility for our failures and lack of basic development instead of making up fairy tales that makes you a victim of everyone's "oppression"?
This felt similar to the type of propaganda the Nazis used to blame their failings on the Jews and other ethnic and political minorities.
You should be ashamed of yourself for imposing such an racist, hateful and idiotic fantasy on us.
Shame on GhanaWeb too for publishing this.

First, I like the fact that you can boldly identify yourself as an atheist. I don't have a bone of superstition in me. That means have also rid yourself of the cultural socialisation encumbrances that have left the mass of Africans/Ghanaians still rooted in the Weberian primitive, substantive rationality stage. That's why I wonder at your failure to comprehend the complex articulation of forces that has rendered the minds of the educated African incapable of thinking outside and beyond the primitive cosmogony of their ancestors and their cosmology doesn't go beyond that; and which situation is at the crux of this masterpiece by Francis. The failure of the educated African as an intellectual, even though some may be brilliant academics in their fields of specialisation esp. when working under the control of the white man in their institutions of higher learning and research; mere pawns.
Of course, some haven't authored a single article, not to mention a book - book and research allowances or not - since the defence of their PhDs!
Granted, the surreal symbolism of his style of writing is beyond the literary comprehension of many not polished in the English language. But that doesn't make it a stupid writing.

Prosper, when did Ewes become your people? Are you even a royal to allow you to use such a condescending phrase?
If you care to know, most Ewes supported Nkrumah and the CPP, even after the fissure that ensued after the 1951 elections when the people of Anloga led a revolt in 1953 (the Buga Buga War) against the CPP's decision to enforce the poll tax they (CPP) campaigned against in the elections and won all the seats in Eweland. Notwithstanding, the CPP continued to win majority of seats in the Ewe areas of the VR. The Togoland Congress and the Anlo Youth Assoc. won only 2 and 1 seats respectively in 1954 and 1956.
No, some of us don't come from families that hated Nkrumah. My father sacrificed his burgeoning business interests prior to indep. to serve newly indep Ghana.

Dear Readers,
You have said it all, Great Andy.
The comments clearly tell me these readers never understood the import of the write-up.
Their thinking seems to fall outside the immediate philosphical focus of this particular piece.
Sadly, rather than judging its philosphical merit separate from my previous writings and general thinking on political, cultural, historical, and moral issues, these readers have lumped the philosphical import of this stand-alone piece with my general thinking!
How sad! Is this the fault of our educational system! I don't say this as an insutlt but as an indictment of our failing educational system. Critical reading (critical thinking) skills are not taught well in our failing educational institutions. I mean it!
For instance, have readers wondered why I used the definite article "the" before the character Color Dark but ignored it in other places ignored it?
Has any of the readers wondered why I figuratively conflated Africans with just two continents, Asia and Europe, when there are seven continets?
Has any of the readers wondered why I used "one-way telepathic thinking" in one place and "one-way telepathic think" in another place? Have they wondered what separates "thinking" from "think"?
I purposefully employed these symbolic devices for a good reason. There are other symbols I will not explian. These "confused" readers should go back again and reread the article. They may get it the fourth or tenth time. I myself have done same with the works of late Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Salman Rushdie, William, Faulkner, Ben Okri,Wole Soyinka, Ernest Hemmingway, etc.
To those ethnocentric readers, what is wrong if I were Ewe? Doesn't that make me a human being? Thank God I am Ewe at last! I am blessed to be Ewe! Thank you God! How happy and great I am to be Ewe!
Have a great weekend!

Hello GH-Atheist,
Did you read CY-ANDY-K's title and comments: "YOU DON'T GET IT."
And do I care if you stand by your judgment? That's none of my business. It's your headache. Treat your headahe! Is the piece playing tricks on your mind? Have listened to Geto Boys' "Mind Playing Tricks on Me? This seems like it.
Beside, that is what Andy is saying. In fact, I am working on sequel since it happens to be one of my most widely-read peces on Mdernghana. You know Modernghana readers, unlike their Ghanaweb counterparts, enjoy serious stuff!
Finally, the word "terrible" is a relative word. That is why Andy aprectes itnd you don't! And any ood reader know Andy is an excellent thinker and fabulous writer, in fact, one of the best on Ghaaweb.
It's also sad that Andy clearly sees me talking about Africans taking responsibility for their failures, among others implicit indictment of Africa, though you didn't appareny see it. How unfortunate!
Again, this is precisely what Andy meant when he said "YOU DON'T GET IT!" Don't read materials that hurt you! In fact, Andy even went further to give you a practicl example of some of the many things I am trying to say. Still, you are confused, so what exactly don't you understand, Mr Teriible!
One person, Andy, likes it the piece and that's all hat matters to me. This piece was not meant for the 25 milion citizens of Ghana to accept. One, Andy, out of the 25 million is okay for me! You get my drift, right?
Once again, you have admitted, though tacitly, that you that you still have no clue what this piece is about. How terribe! Stop crying or stressing yourself over simple things you apperently don't understand. It's not for you or anybody for that matter to understand everything in life. Don't sweat my brother, Qwesi!
Anyway, I have a few Jewish friends whom I have discussed World Jewry with. You don't seem to have a grasp of Jewish history. This is my response to a reader on Ghanaweb. The list dealing with "Jews" was given tome by my Jewish friends in New York.
All of them were mostly authored by prominent Jewish scholars, politicians, historis. Check out the list (Dr. Norman Finkelstein, one of America's most powerful and respected Jewish political scientist and historian, will tells you how "Jews" use their plight to "dupe" everyone. See his book "Holocaust Industry. You will not be making the statements you've been making here after reading this bok. Read all hi other books if you have the time):
Hello,
First, I will like to thank Kosoko for his/her brilliant response to Benson.
I can easily deduce from Benson's comments that he/she is not a student of world history. Simple!
However, before I give him or her my own response, I will like him/her to first read the following books by some of the world's best/renowned Jewish historians (and politicians)who have written profusley about how Jews collaborated with Nazi Germany (to sell their people to Hitler) during the Holocaust.
After this we can ten talk about how Japanese collaborated with Americans during the 2nd World War, how Native Americans collaborated with Europeans during the colonial period, how Chinese collaborated with Japanese during the 2nd World War, how Australian Aborigenes collaborated with the British during the colonial period, etc., against their own people. This is not to explain away Africans' collaboration in the so-called Slave Trade. It's to tell you how the subject is complicated!
Here is the Jewish list (this is just a short list):
1). 51 Documents: Zionist Collaboration with the Nazis (Lenni Brenner)
2). The Transfer Agreement: The Dramatic Story of the Pact Between the 3rd Reich and Jewish Palestine (Edwin Black)
3). Eichmannn in Jerusalem (Hanna Arendt's)
4). Perfidy (Ben Hecht's)
5). I Cannot Forgive (Rudolf Vrba & Alan Bestic)
6). Destruction of the Jews (Rolf Hilberg)
7). The Deadening Silence: American Jews and the Holocaust (Rafael Medoff)
8). Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering (Norman Finkelstein)
9). The Third Reich and the Palestine Question (Francis R. Nicosa)
10) The Invention of Jews (Shlomo Sand)
11)Jews, God and History (Max I. Dimon)
On the Slave Trade, please read the following (this is also a short list):
1). The Jewish Onslaught: Despatches from Wellesley Battle Front (Tony Martin)
2) The Secret Relationship Between Black and Jews (Vol. 1)
3) The Secret Relationshp Between Blacks and Jews (Vol. 2)
4). Jews Selling Blacks
5) A Short History of the Destruction of the Indies (Bartolome de las Casas, 16th Century)
6). History of the Indies (Bartolome de las Casas)
7). Guns, Steel, and Germs: The Fate of Human Society (both documentary film and book; Jared M. Diamond). These tell you what made it possible for the West to conquer the world and enslave those it enslaved.
8) The Debt: What America Owes to Blacks (Randall Robinson)
9) The Black Jasobins: Toussaint L'Ouverture and the San Domingo Revolution (CLR James)
10). Post Traumatic Slavery Syndrome: America's Legacy of Enduring Injury and Healing (Joy Degruy Leary)
11). Should America Pay? Slavery and the Raging Debate on Reparations (Windbush Raymond)
12) The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness (Michele Alexander)
13). Slavery By Another Name: The Re-Enslavement of Black Americans from the Civil War to World War 11 (Douglas A. Blackmon)
14)King Leopold Ghost: A Story of Greed, Terror, and Heroism in Colonial Africa (Adam Hochschild)
15). Benjamin Franklin: The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin
16). Narrative of the Lif of Frederick Dougas: An American Slave (Frederick Douglass)
17) Medical Aaprtheid: The Dark History of Medical Experimentation on Black Americans from Colonial Times to the Present (Harriet Washington)
18). Thomas Jefferson: Writings, Autobiography/Notes on the State of Virginia/Public nd Private Papers/Addresses/Letters (Thomas Jefferson)
19) Communal Labor in Colonial Kenya: The Legitimization of Coersion, 1912-1930 (Opolot Okia)
Read the following essays by Dr. Molefi Kete Asante:
1). Henry Louis Gates is Wrong about Africa's Involvment in the Slave Trade
2) The Slave Trade and Reparations: Closing the Gates
3) The African American Warrant for Reparations: The Crime of European Enslavement of Africans and its Consequences
4). Arab Racism Raises its Head in Sudan
5). The Curse of the Door of No Return
6). Genocide in Sudan
Benson, let's begin a serious discussion on slavery once you have assured me of reading this list. I will then ask you tons of questions.
Finally, let's begin to weigh serious issues without oversimplying them. Oversimplying complex issues is common exercise on Ghanaweb. Yet these issues are not as simple as they seem. Therefore, let's look at them from every angle and not exclusively at the Eurocentric angle handed down to us generations after generations. Even many white scholars are beginning to realize that most histories written my colonial Europeans (Westerners) about Africa are false! Most of these false histories are what we see on Ghanaweb on a daily basis (and other websites)!
Thanks.

I understand what you are trying to do with this article: explaining the historical geopolitical policies and it effects on past and present Africa, using Ghanaian (esp Akan) style folklore.
This is not the first I have read from you but just one in many. I have been following your articles for some time now, and in most of your articles you do talk about taking responsibility for our failures (I don't see how you think you do that in this piece but you do in others).
I will concede that when I called your piece terrible, it was not merely a critique on this piece but more of a critique of your views in general. For when you suggest solutions to our failures you often default to Nkrumaist/pan-Africanist solutions. Here's why I think they are terrible.
1)You're a historian or at least well versed in it, so you should know that Nkrumah's policies were one of the worst. Not only did he lead roll back civil and political rights, but he bankrupted the country. Ghana was the richest country in Africa when Nkrumah took over, less than 6 years later our treasury was non-existent. You should also know that Nkrumah bankrolled many militias in Africa to fight for independence. These militias then broke up into various factions that led to various civil wars across the continent and thousands of deaths. This was unnecessary as Europe was already winding down their colonial operations and most of these countries would have had a diplomatic transition anyway (like Ghana's) sparing many lives.
2)Before I talk about pan-Africanism, I just want to make it clear that I don't hate pan-Africanism. It just contradicts with my values. Pan-Africanism as I understand it is a movement to empower and better the lives of African people. I think that all of humanity should work together to better everyone's life regardless of ethnicity. I view your movement as encouraging isolationism which benefits a few it, at all.
Anyway, I think I saw you leave your email address on one of your articles. Next time I'll send you a personal message instead of criticizing you on a public forum which seems to have angered your fans.
Also don't suggest I'm simplifying matters when you recently just simplified a complex topic in over 2000 words. Also who is Benson?

It is comments like yours here that infuriate many of our people who have managed to resist a whitewashing that apparently has so skewed your vision of your people as well as an appreciation for where we have been (for whatever reasons), where we currently are, and where we are headed in the scheme of things. With the consistently racially motivated daily comments, speeches, tweets etc made against us by every race, including our own, in the media, it is unfortunate that you choose to liken the author’s allegory to a Nazi propaganda against the Jews. You end your response thusly:
“You should be ashamed of yourself for imposing such a racist, hateful and idiotic fantasy on us.”
And so I say to you, Dear Brother/Sister, come not bearing only more shame to throw at a son of the soil who seeks to agitate a passive leadership into taking an immediate and feasible political, economic, and social action that will restore the level of pride Nkrumah and Marley knew and brought to us in their respective ways! Love of his people (you and I included) is glaring in the author’s voice in this article; so let us cut out the distraction of applying “divide and conquer” tactics by magnifying non-issues when we should be rallying behind a modern day warrior who would see his country and continent move on par with Asia and Europe (who, by the way, are greedily carving Ghana and the continent into territorial possessions while many of us dutifully take up for their interests).

Ethnocentrism has never been my problem. I write about Nkumah not because he's Nzema, Daquah beause he's Akyem, or Busia bcause he's Bono.I write about them because they are human beings. Period! Second, you lack the intellectual capacity to understand the basic premise and the import of his works and I urge him strongly to ignore people like you the future. I don't know him in person but I can assure you that only few people comment on his essays because it is not meant for novice like you in the subjects that he discusses and I urge you not to comment on them because you don't have the intellectual wit to do so.
