Ponder over your comment and retract your words and give an unqualified apology to Nana Ado for if you don't do that you will certainly receive a bad reward for this.
Since when has it been a crime for someone wishing to become the president before he dies? Nana Ado is a human being like yourself, you are no better a person than he is and I bet your offsprings if you even have got any could not be compared to his daughters in anything. If you dispute this then I challenge you to publish your picture for people to pass judgement on this.
I beleive where you hail from and in particular in your family they do not teach children manners and acceptable behaviour hence you ending up to become uncivilised and myopic in thinking as you've become.
It's not too late though, you can change your attitude if you determine to do just that.

It's Alan whose time has past. He has lost so much stature in the last eight years while Nana, at the very least, has maintained his. Meanwhile, there are younger and fresher faces with greater appeal than Alan. If both Nana and Alan 'feel entitled', as do all the other contestants, none is more qualified than Nana.
As for wee smoking, womanising and unhealthy presidents we've seen them all before. What we haven't seen is a 72 yr old President and may be that is exactly what we need - vision and maturity. The experiments with tall, handsome, young, booming, soft-spoken, etc from the north, south, east and west, all these superficial attributes have not yielded the desired results. It is time to consider more substancial and relevant qualities in the leaders we elect.

Mr Hayford, I guess you are the Chairman of NPP (UK & Ireland). If I am correct, then either you are complacent, indulging in personality worship or lack understanding of the Ghanaian electorate.
Your second quote claiming that the electorate have now heard Nana Akufo-Addo's message and are ready to vote for him in 2016 is the basis of my disagreement with you. If your quote and interpretation is accurate, are you suggesting that in both 2008 and 2012, those voters did not know Nana Akufo-Addo as well as did not hear his message to vote massively for him? If that was the case, then Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP leadership should be asking themselves how come? In other words, did you guys fail to sell your candidate and also fail to get your message across?
Your assertion that 2012 was a referendum on free SHS is sad. If that was the case then the election results as declared by the Electoral Commission was a rejection of Nana Akufo-Addo's free SHS. You may disagree with me because the NPP challenged the results of the election and some of you still reject the final outcome or the SC declaration but that is what it means by your own claim.
Do you really believe that NDC is scared by Nana Akufo-Addo's declaration of his intention to contest for the NPP Flagbearership? Of course, Nana Akufo-Addo would be a formidable candidate but he does not send shivers into NDC. Stop deceiving yourselves because it was this kind of complacency that cost Nana Akufo-Addo and NPP the presidency in 2008.
I am disappointed by your personality cult approach. Who suggested Nana Akufo-Addo be given a Nobel Peace Award? Was it not from within the NPP? I applaud him for how he handled his rejection of the election result as well as the SC declaration. However, it was not extra-ordinary. In fact, he had no choice but to accept the SC ruling and in a democratic society, that is no achievement for a Nobel Peace Award, even if it happened in Africa.
Mr Hayford, you could have done better in selling Nana Akufo-Addo as a candidate, rather than resorting to personality worship. If this is the approach you guys want to take for 2016, then, you have a long way to go. You should learn lessons from 2008 and 2012.

The anti Nana Addo Mafia's grand and shrewd designs to divide and rule through the perpetuation of falsehoods and propaganda will not succeed. The masses can clearly see through their vicious and calculated campaign of vilification against Nana Addo. The Supreme Court Petition/Judgement gave a glaring commentary of the shocking deficiencies in our justice system. The actions of Afari Gyan and Atuguba Company Ltd compromised our democracy. They succeeded in neutralising our voting powers by confirming that universal adult suffrage in Ghana is just an illusion. The rigging of the 2012 elections was carefully planned and thought-out by this MAFIA. Pink sheet duplications and over voting incidences were not just chance events and mere coincidences, but rather a calculated and deliberate scheme to dis empower the masses and gain control. This was a gross intrusion by an over zealous NDC government hell-bent to cover its tracks. Asiedu Nketia's kneejerk press conference soon after Nana Addo's declaration of intent, makes the NDC corporate denial of their fear of Nana Addo less believable and credible. This anti Nana Addo brigade has deliberately misled and continue to mislead the public through sophisticated word games, phrases, deceit and outright disinformation, sometimes taking advantage of the illiterate majority. Any reckless use of our special forces against us would be dangerous for Ghana. Enough of the MACHO POLITICS. Any rigging attempt in 2016 will be an act of national vandalism and WILL be resisted head on. Ghanaians will not condone any national self destruction. We love our country and that must be clearly understood by all stakeholders.WE MUST "REMEMBER "FREEDOM AND JUSTICE" . LONG LIVE OUR BELOVED MOTHERLAND.

Mr Atta-Krufi, I do agree with most of the points you've raised in this article, in relation to President Mahama's ineffective leadership and NDC Government's litany of corruption scandals and incompetence. I have no doubt that in a perfect world these could have guaranteed NPP victory at the 2016 general election. However, pointing out how corrupt and incompetent the NDC Government is will not be enough to persuade some voters. The NPP has to present itself as the competent and credible alternative in both leadership and policies.
In an ideal world, age is just a number, and should not be used as a tool when determining competent leadership. However, you must live in a Cloud Cuckoo Land if you think age shouldn't or cannot be an issue in Ghana's politics. Wait for it when the NDC dirty campaign machine rolls into town! Nana Akufo-Addo's age could hurt NPP, should he win the party's leadership contest. In Ghana, it takes more than leadership abilities to win a general election. In the eyes of many Ghanaian voters, the idea of a septuagenarian leading the NPP will not appeal to many younger voters who worship 'youth'. And in the eyes of many uneducated Ghanaian voters, a younger candidate in the person of NDC's John Mahama will be considered a capable/stronger leader. Also, the lessons of 2008 and 2012 show that Nana Akufo-Addo is very vulnerable to NDC's propaganda.
Personalities are important in politics, and winning election. And on this score, Nana Akufo-Addo is somehow lacking. He lacks the attractive-trait to appeal to floating voters and voters outside NPP stongholds. Though Nana speaks different Ghanaian languages/dialects fluently, he isn't an excellent communicator. This partly explains why he has come close to the sight of victory, despite NDC's incompetence and corruption.
Strategically, Dr Bawumia could have been the best prospect for NPP. He is an excellent communicator, young and vibrant, competent economist and brilliant intellectual. He could appeal to the youth, most northern voters, and many non-Akans who presumably see NPP as "Akan" party, given his ethnic and regional background.
Mr Atta-Krufi, to the average Ghanaian voter, the historical precedents of older leaders of the past like Ronald Reagan, Winston Churchill, Nelson Mandela, and Konrad Adenauer simply don't matter to them. Should the NPP lose in 2016, just maybe, then it will be clear why the party lost in 2008 and 2012. He has minimal appeal, lacks the X factor and not most likeable NPP candidate.

I am excited Kwesi Hayford gave a list of government initiatives and implemented projects like the NHIS, Metro Mass Transport, School Feeding Programme, Free Maternal Care Free SHS and SADA to name a few that have become a bust needing issues to be hashed out during the next coming election cycle; it is time to be schooled Kwesi Hayford.
I have said before Ghana's NPP and NDC do not have competent communications team with the care and energy to explain simple but complicated political jargons to the satisfaction of the voting public. As such, the respective leaders and contenders of either party have had the luxury to lie and cheat their way each election cycle to an apathetic voting public. Each of the government initiated and implemented programs currently on the market are not only flawed conceptually and in operation but are political projects that lack requisite legislative instrument with national funding sources. In every civilized industrialized nation which Ghana's political elite class lookup to for guidance, government initiatives that are partly or wholly funded by the national government do have funding sources enshrined in legislation and in appropriate and applicable budget submissions and approvals by respective legislators. It simply means that the School Feeding program and other initiatives under the Kufour NPP administration must have its existence and funding sources enshrined in a budget or legislation somewhere in the annals of legislative instruments of Ghana's parliament. The existence of documented legislative backing would force parliament to appropriately and adequately provide funding each budget cycle. These show horses of the NPP and DNC government fail eventually because they lack legitimacy. Even some of the legitimized projects have been inadequately supervised lacking the day to day operational oversight desired thereby fostering mismanagement and financial abuses. It is not the coming of Akufo-Addo that is going to save Ghana because that old horse has failed on two attempts and has a whole lot of baggage in his own closet. Kwesi Hayford, go back in time and you will find that there are times in Ghana when it takes a strong man, a dictator or totalitarian to make things work in Ghana because we have all become tools of our tribes and political party to the extent, wisdom has eluded us even in our members of parliament and those in the judiciary.
Can you Kwesi Hayford name 10 national programs or initiatives that received broad bipartisan support in parliament? If you can do so then provide their current status financial or operationally. As I write I am reminded of an NPP party and NDC party who have opened their arms to welcome drug dealing members into their fold without shame. Yet these shameless NPP and NDC parties see some moral imperative when our courts place street level criminals in jail for long periods even as the drugs from their respective drug dealing members sold to users continue to have irreversible damaging effects on Ghanaian souls.
