Mr. Pobee-Mensah,
I wonder what your educational and background is.
With all due respect Sir, I think you are very confused and have no idea how democracy works.
Please try and study a little and come back again. You are not making much sense at all.
Democracy starts from the bottom when people exercise their right to select somebody to represent their needs and interests, locally and then nationally.
Do you think Ghana is working well for you now? You must be part of the few in government, perhaps. Do you think other developed nations drink water form Poly tanks and after about 60 years this is the best Ghana can do, rationing water, taking 3 hours in city traffic and electricity not even 99% reliable but perhaps 75% and no public funds well accounted for? Are you happy with that?
BTW having PhD does not imply you have knowledge about everything.
Please come back again after you read a little more about democracy and why other nations have done well and we import more than 90% of all we consume.

He has advanced his point with examples and Mr Danso you need not personalize it without even demonstrating your knowledge of the Democracy you are talking about. He is saying the president must take a fall for the actions of this things and democracy the way you see it is not right. I believe Our style of democracy is what has stagnated us for 48 years. 'No critical thinking'. Let somebody say something then we assign him to a party or worse a tribe or clan. My believe is that, we should first debase the issue of assigning competence and incompetence to tribes and look holistically at 'who loses out' We or the copy cut things we do about the so called developed world? Anyway, what is the tribe of Blair, Cameroun, Obama, Bush, Puttin, Rabbin, Sherron, ETC
How come our democracy is about destroying each other. How come we don't hear Akyem/Asante or ' Atinga Trokosi' except in our 'democratic' discourse? It has become our attitude to protect even criminals because he is a party member. Why. is this how democracy is practiced. Is there any lesson in the examples Mr. Pobee gave. I say yes. Lets debate with examples and not invectives.

I was going to leave you the original comment that I had for your comment but lest others read your comment and think that you have something, I will like to point out to you that I’d be ashamed to let people know that I have learnt that government is the same thing as democracy. Second, I’d be ashamed to demonstrate clearly that I lack comprehension of what I read. I didn’t write anything about democracy. I didn’t even write about government. I wrote about unitary government and gave an example of how it has worked in Ghana and how the technical meaning of it is being demonstrated in Michigan. I also gave a reason and an example of why Mr. Nduom’s idea could go wrong. You will be far from insulting and demonstrating your ignorance if you would discuss any of these points I made.
By the way, if someone from the American south, which is where I live, tells you “bless your heart” he/she is not asking for God’s blessing for you. He/She is telling you that it is not your fault that you don’t know that you are so clueless. That’s what you have demonstrated to me.

Asante kingdom have a lot of money and Gold and other natural resources but many Asante people are living in abject poverty why should it happen in that way with money and resources but still poor? the reason been that since 1902 up to date the Asante people never had a good leader to lead them, all of them are selfish and greedy cum politics that is why Asante region is in the ditch like that.Look at the Adansi where they extract the gold is like ghetto, from New Edubiase, Obuasi, Adansi Akrokerri, Fomena, DOmpoase etc all these towns are like ghetto's our kings are so corrupt from their hair to their toes all what you can see is corruption.
Compare and contrast Johannesburg of South Africa and Obuasi and judge for yourself. Am incline to believe that BLACK PEOPLE ARE NOT HUMAN IS TRUE, our live is like a VULTURE, we always prefer rotten things to the real ones that is how VULTURES look like the same thing apply to us. And the most painful thing is that the AGA scholarship allotted for the Adansi's they never give to the real Adansi's, they only give to the aliens. How can an alien who did not hail from Adansi benefit AGA scholarship which is allotted for the those who comes from the Adansi Area? My Adansi people the time has come, let come together to demand an accountability from our kings including OSEI TUTU II.
NAKED will be back.
Follow me if you can but put all the burdens behind.

Since 1902, how much has been giving as royalties to the Asante? How much does government get and mind you, Adansi is not the only Asantes. It is the duty of government to direct resource allocation. Even the government is complaining of the tricks of mining companies and you are here talking as if you are not an Asante. See that they are even threatning to close it down because government has demanded more tax. We as a nation expect much from our chiefs and yet they have been relegated to second place or even third place and sometimes rightly so. Have you bothered to talk to your MP about this scholarship thing you complained of? It is not the Chiefs that disburse it. If you want it all for just Adanse then It should as well go to only the people of Akrokyere.

If you know the type of government that Ghana has and you agree with me that we have a unitary government, please give me an example anywhere in the world where a local government has done anything that the national or state government did not want the local government to do. Even in the United States with its federal system of government, the federal government had taken over a local police before: under Jimmy Carter’s presidency in Georgia. In the United States, the States allow the counties to run schools with state guidelines as to how many classroom hours the students should have and so on and if a county is not doing so well with their schools, the state comes in and take over. Now you show me a little bit of your knowledge if you claim you know. So far all you have said is that you know. No matter how little, I have shown what I know. Prove me wrong in any of what I have said or show what you know to support your point of view if you have one.

First of all, you do NOT know the Ghana system, the constitution or local government law. Decentralisation is not just a policy, it is the law. You obviously do not know how American or Canadian local government works either. There are federal guidelines on education and requirements for getting grants, etc. But Obama does not determine who sits on a school board in New York city or who becomes mayor of New York City or Minneapolis, etc. You can have Republican mayors and a democrat as governor of the state and Republican as president etc. You do not understand what unitary is my friend. Read the Ghana constitution, read the local government act etc then armed with facts, come back. This is NOT a secondary school debate.

sacking someone for a single mistake is not as wise as you think. the person might have good knowledge and skill to build a nation together with others. rethink my brother.
