Stop the importation of Indomie and all those unhealthy foods that Ghanaians are consuming. That put lots of stress on the economy and the health of the population. We have grown to become lazy and unable to be creative, therefore we have become mere consumers of other nations creativity. Our beautiful women no longer like their hair and color,we now import Brazilian hair and skin bleaching products with the same dollar that we need to import spare parts, oil and medical equipments. We have to produce 80% of what we consume, our cocoyam, plantain, banku should replace our taste for all things foreign. We need to be creative and stop importing everything from toothpick, doormat, plates to cooking stoves. The technical schools should be reasonably funded to lead the way.Our university graduates are not creative enough.

I guess these are the type of posts we need instead of the NPP and its rented press telling us false stories. Ghanaians must be sensible enough to know the NPP has NO solutions

The complexity of the country’s economic problem is monstrous! And while we are at it, the insidious, greedy, corrupted political parties are forever at each other’s throat to get mouths at the trough!
A top worthy of deliberation and discussing. Alas! Look at the number of responses
What shame and sham!

A propos, there is something known as ” Domicile Retained Earnings ”s. Companies are compelled to KEEP some of the profits they make in the country! Some countries make it mandatory for companies operating in the country NOT TO PULL OUT all the monies they made in the country. It is done during the filing of the registration of the company, BEFORE the company is allowed to start doing business in the country, Does such a policy exists in Ghana.
As it is in Ghana, billion upon billions are immediately CONVERTED AND PULLED OUT OF THE COUNTRY. (The telecom/cell-phone companies, and others, making billions, daily transfer their profits DAILY OUT of the country. Leaving the country high and dry! Isn’t that part of the problem?
Is any body in Ghana monitoring what is going on? I have my doubt!
Another look: Almost 90 percent of countries around the globe - big and small, have their OWN NATIONAL airlines – a neat revenue generating source! Ghana? Zero.
(How many flights, how many passengers pass through our airports weekly, monthly, yearly? You do the math.
Most of our globally “ tradeable “ productions are in foreign hands.. I could go on.. and on ! Does the country owes anything revenue generating at all??
“Economic laws are not statutory… Economic laws are not written from heaven. they are simply hypothetical .. forecasts that could fail or succeed. What works economically for country A may not work for country B. Every country should gear its economic policy towards overall benefit of its people, especially feeding the populace. A country that cannot feed itself is economically doomed!!”
That’s an earful I had from a President of a European company.
