No, I don't think the CHAN is a waste of time. I think it is still given some of our players international experience.

It's a fact. For our kind of league where players move abroad everyday, CHAN is nothing but a waste of time and money for Ghana. Sometimes, players leave right in camp preparing for CHAN assignment and what good is it for the nation? Unless we're able to control player movement abroad in Ghana, the least we say about CHAN the better. I guess CAF has to find a way to organize such competitions for nations like Eretria, Liberia, Sierra Leon, Botswana, Burundi and the likes.

At the end of the day, the local players need to know what it means to be in a real international competition. The only alternative would be to set up friendlies where we send local players to go and get embarrassed. Confidence must be built up. Even if just one of the CHAN players eventually becomes a regular in the proper Black Stars, that one player could make a difference.

When FIFA started Confederations Cup, Europeans said it is a waste. Now Confederation Cup is a major tournament after FIFA World Cup. Everything starts from somewhere.

Ever heard an English expression that frowns at their dislike, jealousy and apathy?
Its: "Mmatahoo Kankan"
That aptly speaks of the LBS and the GBS.

I think the CHAN is good because we could use some of those players in our Black Stars team in the future.

The contents and illustrations in the article are all skewed and it is easy for the discerning reader the writer comes from a country like Ghana. Let the countries like Zimbabwe, RSA, Egypt, Liberia, DR Congo, Mozambique, etc., (whose players don't ply their trade in Europe or Asia)also have a platform to excel and taste glory. CHAN does not have to disrupt League matches and CHAN creates an avenue for national coaches to try other players.

Find some better issue to criticize on.CHAN is a good idea and it is producing good results if not in Ghana, other countries are benefiting from it because not all African countries have many or depends on 'foreign' players like Ghana. If a player is bought by a rich football team from whatever country because of CHAN,thanks and praises go to God and the organizers.

Ghana needs CHAN more than any country in Africa, a check on the list of the countries in attendance shows are nations that give Ghana most troubles with their local players on any international platform. How can such an article come from a Ghanaian whose country's league is not even rated among the best in Africa. Most of the so called Ghanaian professional plying their trade in Europe also are permanent bench warmers in their vsrious clubs. Ghana alone has more than 50% of Black Stars players either looking for new clubs or seeking loan transfers to clubs they could command a starting line up opportunities. This article shouln't have come from a Ghanaian.
