Please, stop these baseless accusations against the King. As much I support the full functioning of the democratic principle that our Laws should be equally applicable to all, irrespective of rank or fame, I strongly believe we ought to be careful in how we dump criminal culpability on fellow citizens with no proof.
We cannot rely solely on mere suspicion to charge folks for wrongdoing and ruin their reputation. That is just wrong! If you have any iota of proof that the King is a Drug criminal, go to the Law enforcement Agencies to file a complaint or, at least, put the evidence out for proper scrutiny .
You seem to be mad at the King simply because he has been reported to be sympathetic towards the NDC. So, you would go to all extents to tarnish his reputation. When we criticize anyone, let us discuss the issue at stake and not turn it into personal insults. I have criticized the Otumfuor before on the conflict between the Ashanti Confederacy and the Techiman Stool. But I did not attack his person. I only questioned how he handled some aspects of the case. Even I have taken this same Professor to task before on how he once vilified the Otumfuor. But I saw no reason to go beyond the issue involved.
Issues are what we need to focus on. Not on personalities per Se. We may not like someone but we would have to honor the sanctity of his or her office.

Why do we continue to hear from ex-Ghanaian children in the Diaspora about democracy and all things democratic when those very people know and understand very little about best practices of democratic principles and or democratic values. Is there a state in the USA where the governor of the state does not appoint people to some positions of state? Now if Kwame Okoampa-Ahoofe and others would like to see Ghana operate its entire governing structure and systems as they do in the USA then I suggest Okoampa-Ahoofe read up on American election laws. He may find that it is against the laws of the USA for foreigners to try to influence elections in the US. Okoampa-Ahoofe and others take delight in talking about democratic values that suit their own infantile pronouncements; they should learn to live and practice democratic values.

The suggested reform is necessary and deserves the support of all honest, Ghanaians. And we must thank Professor Okoampa-Ahoofe for lending his eloquent elucidation to the reasoning behind it. However, I think it's promotion could be hurt by the Professor's invidious selective apportioning of blame for the status quo among previous Administrations. Citing only Kufuor's and J. J. 's Administrations for their failure to change the system, reflects a certain infusion of the Professor's personal sentiments that dulls the acuity of the issue's importance.
The NLC, the Busia Administration, Kutu's and Dr. Liman's Governments all had ample time to effect that change but did not. The Busia Administration, in particular, which steeply set itself against the much vilified Nkrumah's dictatorship was best situated, ideologically, to make that reform a priority.
So, we must be fair in admitting that all the previous Administrations never wanted to relinquish that much political control. They all wanted to retain some control of access to the masses' votes via the appointed local leaders.
It is very crucial to note that any semblance of o

The Prof. ought to understand that any perception of him being disingenuous in promoting the reform could cause the Public to freeze its much needed support. This a good non-partisan improvement of our democratic participation in ruling our Nation, and we should not let the lure of sneaking a punch at our opponents sour the appetite for that change.
