The only regimes that could offer the instant result you wish for are un-opposed, un-elected, un-accountable regimes.
It is not how huge the public wage bill is that worries me, it is how unpatriotic, unproductive and uningenuous workers are that worries me.
If the 10 percent was intended to urge Ghanaians to sacrifice for their nation, then it should be applauded and not spat on.
I would've urged any government to do that. hardwork comes naturally to most nationals around the world and Ghana should not be different.

I once heard a saying, that you do not carry a government job on your head else your neck will break but rather carry it on your 'shoulders'(like a badge of honour).
What do we expect when they get to government. You can only give what you have.
I believe it is time we take a good look at ourselves as a nation. What we cherish and what we don't, who we praise and who we don't, what we can do and what we can not do.

It's definitely not an insult even if you disagree with me. I respect both the President and the office. However, what do you call the actions of the President and his ministers who enjoy enormous benefits giving up 10% of their salary then tend round to ask poorly paid public workers to also give up 2% of the salary? Perhaps, dishonest is better if you do not want the word con. It would have been better if you had debated the issues I raise rather than pick on a word.

Kofi Ata is symptomatic of what ails Ghana. We are a nation where the poor wants something for nothing because the poor are incapable of creating things or taking to sustenance farming to feed their respective family; they've all migrated to metro areas looking for office jobs from an incapable government or parliament. The educated elite and politically connected rich people on the other hand refuse to pay their share of taxes, steal from government coffers and at times fight for free things just so they can have the extra money from their bloated salaries to buy things made outside Ghana or to using their unworthy money to chase Ghana's minority trampy women at home and abroad.
While majority of the incoming revenues to the government is going to fat cats in government as the majority of the nation’s poor wallow in misery, asking people who can afford (they do not work for their salaries anyway)to be humane is not too much to ask of our home-grown greedy bastards. We have come to know that most of Ghana's political elite do have law degrees but do not practice law; they read politics where stealing is the ultimate. We even have medical officers who derive majority of their money dabbling in politics instead of making money through their learned profession. Asking these types of jerks to donate to Ghana's poor is better than hypocrites who tell people to go on rampage or mass demonstration while they perch on their high horses waiting to reap the spoils of the unwitting marching foot soldiers. It's your pick Kofi Ata.

It was a vote buying gimmick like those low grade Rig laptops he was dashing to students. He a snake oil sales man and a con artist. Ghana will be in the dark for while because of the huge debt Mahama and his posse have heaped on poor Ghanaians.

strongly influenced by his religious beliefs and how he sees himself. He has come to believe in the efficacy of tithes. That if you tithe you will handsomely be rewarded by the Almighty.
Hence the 10% Executive pay cut and the 2% pay cut by public sector employees - enough tithes to construct 2000 Community Health Programme Services (CHPS) bungalows in designated compounds to prevent maternity mortality, and promote neo-natal care - all good deeds the Lord will be pleased with.
So, the next time you see the President wearing a white cassock don't be takenack.
