It would be good for NPP and Ghana if Nana did not contest for NPP leadership. The earlier he announces his retirement, the better for NPP and Ghana. Everyone in the Nation is crying for a better leadership and Bawumia should be encouraged to lead the party to bring hope and aspirations to the people of Ghana. I know he would get all the support from the Akyem mafia. Choosing Bawumia is all about strategy; to nullify NDC demonic tribal attacks-- Asante/Akyem party-- on the NPP and also to draw our Muslim and Northern brothers back to our camp. We know what NDC did to Limann and his party, don't we?
Gabby, you know that currently, NPP is not doing what they are supposed to be doing because of lack of leadership. It seems there is no opposition party in the country. This is the reason why Mahama and his bunch of thieves are creating committees and looting everything in Ghana and sharing among themselves. So let us do the right thing for once. Addo's infatuation with the NPP leadership is destroying the party. You guys need to wise up.
Akufo Addo should give up his dreams. Bawumia and Dan Botwe or OBosai should be our ticket to victory.

All Gabby wants is for his cousin to be president "by all means". He still can't believe that last year some people voted NDC just to spite Akufo-Addo, not because they think Mahama and NDC were any good. Someone else other than Akufo-Addo would've won last elections by a clean margin even if not overwhelmingly.
Now Gabby is trying to tell us that Akufo is God's gift to Ghana and that he's very popular and the one the people want. Na lie. Na so so lie de man dey talk. NPP cannot win with Akufo but they can win with another better candidate.
Both NDC and NPP are holding us to ransom. The only thing all of them know is how to chop. NPP was good but greed spoiled them. And the greediest of them all was Kufuor. Ebei, how can a human being be so greedy like Kufuor? I nefa see some before! Now NDC has also learnt from NPP's chop chop and they are perfecting the act.
We need a miracle man or woman to save Ghana by breaking this cycle of NPP and NDC chop chop. Where can we get another Nkrumah without his (Nkrumah's) shortcomings?

Well, a democratically elected benevolent dictator with a purpose.
This is a contradiction in terms because a dictator will not seek democratic elections. But eight years will be enough for a dictator with a purpose to shake Ghana forever. It will mean he or she will have to cut off a few of our freedoms to enable him drive sense into us.
But we don't need the firing squad and the disappearances in the night stuff. That was what spoiled Rawlings who could have been our benevolent dictator. He couldn't do it in 19 years so he was a failure.
It will be enough for the benevolent dictator to see to it that a few of the ministers who chop money are behind bars - actually behind bars. And he should lead by example by not being rich himself or letting his children and family members become rich.
He should have total and complete control over his ministers and not be afraid of any king-makers behind him who can bring him down.
He should have a little bit of Kagame and a lot of Nkrumah. And he should know what she is doing, not clueless like Mahama or Kufuor or Mills.

Nyansasem, I agree absolutely with your sentiments expressed here. Of course, Gabby has to show personal loyalty to his cousin instead of taking a more realistic view of what the third-term Presidential candidacy of Nana Akufo-Addo will mean to the electoral fortunes of NPP. Nana Akufo-Addo might be the most popular figure among the NPP faithful, but he's simply NOT an attractive Presidential candidate who commands nationwide approval. The blunt truth is that, there will no progress in NPP's electoral progress come 2016 and in the long term, should Nana Akufo-Addo lead the party for the third time.
Importantly, it's high time for Nana Akufo-Addo to come out and end all the speculation about his future so that NPP can rebuild and strategize for 2016. I would rather wish Nana Akufo-Addo quits the party's leadership and throw his weight behind Dr Bawumia to stand as NPP's Presidential candidate. It is Dr Bawumia who can genuinely succeed in changing voter's perceptions and negative impressions of the NPP.
My personal advice to Nana Akufo-Addo is for him to quit the stage in adulation rather than in humiliation.

We can't and shouldn't allow the raping of Ghana to go on like that. Unfortunately, it seems because of greed and lack of wisdom and common sense, NPP will continue to let victory slip through their hands.
Just read what is going on between GRA and Subah Infosolutions LTD and you will understand my frustration. Not that I want NPP at all cost to lead but it seems that Mahama was never prepared to lead the country and could care less what is going on except to keep on talking...
I believe that not only Bawumia is an upright man but an intelligent person who will be able to lead the country. I don't see those qualities in Mahama.

My good friend, Nyansasem, thank you very much indeed for your compliments. Likewise, I've always enjoyed your constructive, reasonable, intelligent and brilliant comments on here. NPP has perception problems, but it seems the party has its fingers in its ears.
At the moment, Ghana is debt-laden, there's high unemployment, incessant strike actions by labour unions, and with no end in sight to the exponential growth of corruption, all this points to the overwhelming failure of President John Mahama's leadership. His NDC Government can't run things even in a half-competent manner.

LONTO-BOY, I have not seen your comment on Ghanaweb for some time now.I hope Ghanaweb did not ban your comments. For some reason/s I do not know Ghanweb has refused to publish my articles. After my last article appeared on October 16, I have sent three articles to Ghanaweb but none has been published. I e-mailed to ask why but no one responded to me. Those who want to read my articles should look for them on Modernghana.com (all the three articles appeared on Modernghana.com)
Now back to the issue for discussion, I agree with you and NYansasem that though Nana is the most popular politician in Ghana, it appears he is not an attractive presidential candidate beyond NPP. Unless the Ghanaian electorate will follow their customary practice of changing party in power after two terms in 2016, NPP must think hard and act very carefully in selecting a presidential candidate for 2016.
Personally, I am not sure Bawumia has the power base in the NPP to lead it to victory since that would mean he becomes a figure head.
Form what is happening in Ghana (poor implementation of Single Spine, GYEEDA, the poor management of the economy, etc), only a miracle can save Mahama's government in 2016. I know it's too early but the signs are very worrying and it's time for another party to try their hands (even if that means it's their turn to also chop chop).
I guess Gabby is hoping that the two strikes and you are out will favour his cousin so that is why he is making a case for a third attempt by Nana. What surprised me in the fact that, he creates the impression that if Nana decides to contest the NPP flagbeareship, then, he will be crowned without a keenly contested primary election. That will depend to a large extent on those elected into National Executive positions. If Jake and Sir John are retained then it will be easy for Nana, otherwise, he would have a good fight

MASSA KOFI, on your question of Bawumia's power base in NPP. Though the NPP is beset with the Ashanti-Akyem factions, I think Bawumia's base is the NPP grassroots. I feel, however, that should Nana Akufo-Addo, perhaps, throw his weight behind Bawumia, it will mean all the executive party members and the grassroots loyal to Nana Akufo-Addo will support Bawumia's leadership contest as a favoured choice to lead the NPP. Also, I believe Bawumia's strength will be his ability to cross the 'divide', build bridges and unify the party.

LONTO-BOY, if the scenario you described becomes a reality would a Bawumia presidency not suffer the same fate as Limann and Mills (without the overthrow and sudden death respectively)? In other words, he would be President but not in control. Limann was controlled by power brokers in the party and Mills also suffered a similar fate because both had no support base (power broker) in the party. Grass roots support is not the same as having power base within the party. That is my worry, otherwise, he would be a formidable challenger. That could be really exciting with two presidential candidates from the same region, assuming Mahama is NDC's candidate.

Nyansasem, when I started writing articles in 2010, I e-mailed them to Mr Akoto. Then, when I decided to make available my Freedom of Info Request to Oxford University to the public through Ghanaweb in 2012, Ghanaweb wanted evidence that what I wanted published was genuine, so I spoke to one Edward who informed me that he was the Editor. Since then, e-mailed all my articles to Edward and Mr Akoto. When the two articles did not appear after a week, I e-mailed them both but they did not respond. I did a search on Ghanaweb and realised that articles should be sent to the Editor so I did that. After the third article did not appear, I assumed that perhaps, the articles were critical of the government so they may not want to publish them, which is unusual of Ghanaweb. I will try belaart with the next and see what happens and if that is not published then I will give up sending copies of articles to them.
Thanks for the advice.

Gabby, do you know what? Don't waste your precious time trying to straighten things. Everyone knows the NDC thrash paper and their intent. Save your precious energy for better things in store for you, ahead in life; just don't follow this NDC vile propaganda and bullshit! Ghanaians are yearning for Nana Akufo-Addo's return after what he'd done for Ghana's politics. Nobody had the courage to challenge election fraud which had been going on since 1992, except Nana Akufo-Addo. By his courageous stance against corruption and election fraud some Supreme Court justices have also been exposed!
NDC can only win election through fraud, deceit and violence. They know what is in store for them. Trust me on this that Ghanaians have seen everything esp. when the whole court proceedings was telecast live on Radio, TV and Internet. I hope you've also heard that NDC is trying to rope Nana into the sale of the Drill Ship. They have started early to try to denigrate Nana; that's way ahead of the 2016 elections. I hope you'll help persuade our party leaders and executives to consider organizing for an early congress.
Stay cool Gabby, because the NDC cannot confuse Ghanaians anymore; they cannot find their way clear in running the country, esp. fixing the ailing economy.

You only waited in the 2nd round when complacency on the part of supporters had set in which was too late. Most supporters especially those who travelled to go and vote did not go thinking that the NPP had won looking at the margin, the smaller parties foolishly decided to vote for NDC and the rigging in the Volta region all these contributed to the loss of NPP in 2008. Where was Allan in the 2008 and 2012 campaign because he wants to be president, he should remember that Akuffo Addo had been in politics - the Busia - Danquah tradition for that matter so many years before him - Allan so he should be patient and shirk that selfish attitude for the NPP to win power. Fmr. Prez. Remember Akuffo Addo gave you his full support when you were campaigning - why can't you reciprocate that gesture, one good turn deserves another.
