Papa, your article takes Mr. Price to task for suggesting that race may be a factor for the hesitancy by GFA displaced in the appointment of Okatakyie Akwasi Appiah. I think that you may be living in a fool's paradise to imply that "foreign or White in good syndrome" is not real in Ghana. In most instances, foreigners have been given preferential treatment.

No, masa, you may rather be living in a fools paradise. The article contains numerous of points and so you need to evaluate both articles well. Mr. Price article, yes, I admit pointed out some important facts. However, the way it was put across, I mean reading between the lines, his bad intention was apparent. It was seen like seeing yourself in a mirror. That is what Mr. Papa Appiah is pointing out.
Mr. Price article was wrong timely published. This was not the time for that. Whether some of us were against the appointment of the coach or not, are haven't we all behind him since he was appointed? Are we all not supporting him even when he lose to Japan 3-1? So what are you talking about?
Papa Appiah indicated of the agreeing and disagreeing which makes a country better. We all cannot agree on the same thing. There should be differences before coming to an agreement. This happens even in everywhere and so in Ghana.
Mr. Price was wrong and I'm glad someone came out and put him right.
GREAT Article!

How many Ghanaians believe in made in Ghana? Go to Ghana with a White Man on a business trip and every fool think the Whiteman is the boss. 99.999% of GFA believed in the Whiteman and most into under the so-called Serbian Mafia. If a GFA boss would tell a Ghanaian coach in the name of Sly Tetteh that he is not ready to take over the Black Star job after he had led the team on a winning path during a world cup qualify. How many of the so-called White coaches has any impressive CV most important the Serbian. Not everyone was behind Appiah my friend go back a look in the mirror take Ghanaweb and you find out most people were praying for a faliure same with most people in power. Let stop dancing around and face issues that Ghanaian still do not believe in themselves.I would be back.

Well in as much as the article raises some concerns about Kwasi Appiah's CV, it does not balance the argument with the fact that there are also and equally countless of "No good CV holders" who have over performed in the area of football. I also want the writer to closely check the CVs of those coaches who took Ghana to the two world cups and tell us what their achievements were in terms of football.
The issue still stands that we do not believe in our own. We trust in the white-coloured person more than our own. If the writer would be sincere to himself, he might have preferred Darseilly to Kwasi Appiah and the reason would be tacitly simple, he has been on the whiteman's land.
Since 1990, I have questioned the rationale for using a foreign coach. Holding a PhD., i think it is for me one of the senseless things we were doing. I have written countless arguments and asked several questions without any substantial answers.
Thank God we are seeing the light. We have slept for far to long and must wake up. When we know all our 4 nations cup achievements were made by Ghanaian coaches, that must be a reason to know that the Ghanaian coach would understand the psych of the the players more than any one else.
Apart from the technical aspect of the game on the field of play, communication, language, culture, and the most important knowing all the players in Ghana. With the injuries at our defense this time, a foreign coach would have been lost completely.
I am extremely happy that at least Ghanaian would build their self confidence.

I respect both Mr. Price's and Papa Appiah's articles. Price may have oversimplified the matter however, I will say that Ghanaians tend to be more critical of fellow Ghanaians than Whites who come to do business in Ghana. That is a trend that goes beyond coaching. It reaches into all areas of professional life. That being said, I think Appiah has proven Ghanaians wrong and I hope all have learned their lesson.
*The development of a strong national team or business is a process. It does not happen overnight and there are some ups and downs.
*In Ghana, sometimes you have to have the courage to discipline those who are seen as powerful or popular in the society. I think that the disciplining of the Ayews and Muntari has led to an appreciation of what it means to be called to the Black Stars. I think that now no one is taking it for granted anymore. This is an important development.
*Cultural issues do come into play in Ghana. The analogy to England is a bad one because they have become a multicultural team so a foreign coach is okay. Ghana is still basically fielding a team of players who were born and bred in Ghana. The "outsiders" are in the minority i.e. Kwarsey, KPB, Adomah, Frimpong and to a certain extent the Ayew brothers. With Ghana, you need a Ghanaian coach who can read the personalities. He can tell who gets along with who and who values the experience. If you notice, Appiah has smoothly handled the KPB situation by not saying much but you can tell that he let KPB exclude himself. After this 6-1 victory, KPB does not seem that important anymore. Did Appiah have to make any noise? No, because he understood that the team was slowly developing its personality and that if KPB did not make himself a part of it he would naturally exclude himself.
*In sum, we need to learn to appreciate that we have some of our own who can do the job and not be so quick to take a negative attitude towards our own. Thank you.

By the way talking about the white coach let's delve into club soccer a little bit. Accra Hearts of Oak has two continental titles, Asante Kotoko was recently voted Africas Club of the century and rightly so, for even till today besides Al Ahly of Egypt Kotoko has played in the grand finale more than any African side including their two titles. On those four successful occasions I guess Nana Appiah know who the coaches were[in Kotoko's case, A.Fynn and I. Sunday were the masterminds] I was not in Ghana when Hearts won her titles therefore I don't know the coach[es]. Yes let 'self believe begin anew'.

The expats makes mistakes too. Problem is, people are looking for opportunities to criticise Appiah and are patiently waiting for a defeat.
So if we get to the quarters again at the world cup, has Appiah been successful?
Appiah should be in the hot seat for at least 6 yrs and i believe at least he will deliver an AFCON title. Ghana's Blatter will keep him irrespective of what happpens in Bra.

Papa Appiah again. A graduate with no Efie Nyansa. Yes I have said it before that Papa Appiah is a graduate from Tech but has no brains. Right from the beginning we knew from your own writings that you being a Hearts supporter did not want a Kotoko player to coach Black Stars. Your hatred led to criticism of Kwewsi Appiah in every thing that he does - from recruitment of players, selection of players, disciplinary issues etc. What do you mean by "his appointment was risky". If you do not take risks how do you succeed and yet you claim to be a product from Tech.
You want everything on a silver platter and is that why you are licking the boots of the whites now.
You were even referring to England. England appointed a foreign coach Capela and what did England do. At least we know that no world cup has been won with a foreign coach. To some us Ghana would have won the World cup in South Africa if we had gone there with a local coach. Yes, forsaw it. On this forum I wrote several times at that time for Ghana to pick Mr. AA but instead Ghana chose the white man and lost it. Yes South Africa was our time.
I believe with even 6-1 win over Egypt you still harbor hatred for Mr. Appiah. Well you can continue to do so and go to hell. For me I have labelled you as a graduate with no brains - no Efie Nyansa period.

I forced myself to read to the end hoping to stumble on a line pregnant with fact(s) and/or intellectual reasoning yet was slap with pure hollow assertions and fallacious statements. Fact: there are countries that have equal or better and skillful players who have not qualified for the world cup or have to go to play off. The fact that the national team is full of good players does not necessarily guarantee an automatic qualification. Any team albeit its strength in terms of skill still require a good tactical coach. That is what the Black Star have in coach Kwasi Appiah.

You are blinded by your hatred for Kwasi Appiah, and I will always remind you of your previous article which you impugn that Kwasi Appiah is an Ashanti. In that article you went of tangent accusing Kwasi Appiah of hating Abedi and extending it to his children and all that. Now today, it is about CV? How was Rijkard's CV like when he took over the Dutch national team? What about Marco Van Basten? You talk about England, who will you have chosen between Roy Hodgson and Harry Redknapp for the England job if it was about CV and performance. At a time that Hodgson has been sacked by Liverpool whilst Redknapp was been hailed at Tottenham.
Assuming without admitting that the GFA took a risk by appointing Kwasi Appiah, after this performance where the team has done so well up to this time (scoring about 24 goals and conceding 4), what is your beef now? Were we this assured when were embarking on one goal project etc.? Does CV play or coach football?
