Go and find out how our local premiership players are paid before you post these stupid comment.Have you forgotten that these players are products of that slavery? In any case they did not demand from the govt for this excessive expenditure. It is the guilt that is going through the minds of our politicians which is driving them to do this. For the players the motivation of going to Brazil 2014 is far bigger than this $15000,they know going to this tournament will change their fortunes.

We Ghanaians need to start working hard, put an end to bribery and corruption, and increase our productivity if we want to improve our standard of living. Complaining about our football players' earnings will not put food on our dinner tables. It is only through hard work that we can all improve our lot.

Sports achievements promote a country. Performing on the world stage is a sign of the ability to be well organized. This attracts visitors and investors who think that there might be something to Ghana. Sports and entertainment should never be underestimated. Every country needs something to brand it. For instance, Jamaica=Bob Marley and Reggae with track and field. Ghana = Football and Kente Cloth.

We have a Govt that collect our taxes to fix all the problems being enumerated so why do we place it on the head of the Players much less the Company? The boosts we receive as a nation can not be quantified in monetary terms as we are poor at ding the mathematics as a nation! Mr Author, I totally understand your frustration. I however think the timing of your article is very inappropriate. Yes, you can have all the beef you want with the government for increasing utility bills over 60% or so, yes the government is letting the ordinary Ghanaian down of late, they have to deal with that. But saying that the winning bonuses that the Stars get should not be increased in a misnomer. Football is a global sport, it is rewarded excessively well everywhere you go. Unfortunately, the economic situation in any particular country does not at all have any bearings on how much their national teams get. Greece is on it's knees economically but their national team are still getting winning bonuses, life in England has been quite challenging of late economically but the winning bonuses of this rather ordinary England team are on the up. Same story in Italy, Spain, France, Germany. All these economies with the exception of that of Germany are all struggling but winning bonuses of their national sides are always on the rise. Take cognizance of the fact that the best successful national sides advertise their countries more than anything else does. The BS are no different. The exploits of the BS in the World Cup in SA has put Ghana on the lips of football fans all around the world. Mention Ghana in London and everyone just talks about our football. They deserve however much they get in bonuses, the economy of the country has nothing to do with it unfortunately.

ONE MIGHT THINK PAYING THE BEST DOES NOT NECESSARILY TRANSLATE INTO HAVING THE BEST DELIVERY. I WANT TO STATE EMPHATICALLY THAT IT GUARANTEES A GREATER PERCENTAGE OF SUCCESS.
WE WANT THE BEST BUT FEAR TO PAY THE BEST. THE GHANAIAN WOULD HAVE BEEN COMFORTABLE IF THE PLAYERS WERE PAID THE LEAST. THAT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A SUBJECT OF DEBATE.
WE SHOULD NOT FORGET THAT OTHER NATIONS HAVE BETTER ARRANGEMENTS FOR THEIR PLAYERS IN THE EVENT OF OCCURRENCE OF RISK SUCH AS INJURIES AND SO ON. WHAT DID WE DO FOR THE PLAYERS WHO GOT INJURED PLAYING FOR GHANA IN THE PAST. THERE ARE NOT SUCH PACKAGES AND THEREFORE WHAT WE GIVE TO OUR PLAYERS IS LIKE A COMPREHENSIVE SORT OF. MY THINKING IS THAT NO SUCH COUNTRIES IN EUROPE AND EVEN IN AFRICA MENTIONED COULD LET THEIR PLAYERS ROT THE WAY WE ABANDONED OUR PLAYERS WHEN THERE ARE INJURIES PLAYING FOR THEIR NATION.
WE HAVE A CRUCIAL ASSIGNMENT SUCH AS THIS AND WE STILL DISCUSS HOW MUCH WE PAY TO PLAYERS. WE MUST RATHER THANK GOD WE COULD AFFORD TO GIVE TO PLAYERS TO SACRIFICE THEIR LIVES FOR THE NATION WHILE YOU SIT IN THE COMFORT OF YOUR HOME ENJOYING YOURSELF. WHY? DO YOU WANT THEM TO PLAY FOR FREE? DO YOU KNOW WHAT IT HAS TAKEN TO BRING THEM TO WHERE THEY ARE? THEN WE BETTER TELL FIFA TO AWARD THE POINTS TO EGYPT BECAUSE WE POOR. HOW ABOUT THAT? OUR THINKING AS A PEOPLE HAS BEEN CLOSE TO OUR COLOUR AND UNTIL WE DESIST WE MAY CONTINUE TO BE RULED BY THE WHITE COLOURED ONES.
WHAT IS WRONG IF AT LEAST FOR ONES OUR PLAYERS RECEIVE THE BEST. ARE WE MADE TO ALWAYS FOLLOW OTHERS. SO WE START COMPARING WITH OTHERS. CAN'T WE ALSO BE USED AS A BENCHMARK FOR GOOD THINGS. IF YOU THINK 15,000 USD IS ANYTHING TO THESE PLAYERS THEN YOU ARE LOST IN THIS WORLD. LET US BEGIN TO THINK WELL SO THAT THE BLESSINGS OF THE LORD COMES UPON US AS A NATION. THIS AMOUNT IS FAR LESS THAN THE SACRIFICE BY THE PLAYERS AND THAT MUST BE OUR PREOCCUPATION. GOD HELP MOTHER GHANA TO HAVE US THINK WELL FOR OTHERS.

All the arguments are valid, yet remember when Mary Magdalene poured that ornament on Jesus, the criticism was that it could have been sold and used for a better purpose. Sorry for the comparison with my Lord, but I couldn't think of anything else. Ghana has a big problem with poverty that needs a more comprehensive approach and solution. This is just an incentive to motivate the boys to do their best. Some of the more privileged rich ones may choose to donate their bonuses to charities and so forth, but for now let us focus on the game and pray for the boys to win

For 19yrs of Rawlings' AFRC/P-NDC regime, Ghana did not qualify for any World Cup, until ex-Prez. Kuffour's regime, when Mr. Yaw Osafo Marfo was Minister for Sports. Kuffour's govt. started paying good incentives to our foreign professional players led by ex-Captain Stephen Appiah. The Black Stars played their hearts out and Ghana went to the WC-2006 in Germany.
In 1982 when Ghana won the Africa Cup, players like Opoku Nit (Lord Zico) tossed their bonuses over their shoulder to other team members/squad who were local players because the money wasn't anything worth to thank govt. about.
Ghanaians have waited patiently only to live through long years of suffering and pain, only to come face to face with the NDC govt. who see nothing good about honouring our hard-working Stars. All of our Stars who play professional football overseas go through making considerations as to whether to play for the National Team or not. So it's sad to note that the NDC and their supporters who don't appreciate anything are asking GFA to slash to bonus package of the Black Stars. The NDC supporters started asking govt. to tax the bonuses that were paid to the Black Stars immediately after taking over the rein of power in 2008. It's shocking!
This is the kind of envy covetousness found in the NDC; they'll accuse people of greediness and corruption yet are found to be more guilty of the crimes that they accuse others about.
In Black Stars' last match to the WC-2006 in Cape Verde, govt. gave nearly the same amount (sum) of bonus when they beat the host nation on home grounds to seal qualification to the tournament. I wonder what's going on in Ghana. If NDC supporters want every Ghanaian to be rich before bonuses are paid to our national stars then they should petition the GFA to stop making payments of bonuses and let's see what happens.
Ghana, under Rawlings has bred a whole lot of wicked and envious people within. It will take a generations to cure Ghana. The kind of hatred and envy that's within the souls of the nation is a serious thing to deal with.

Nobody likes black stars more than me and the day that ghana wins the world cup, i dont know what i would do...i think i would be the happiest man in the world...but the remunerations the players get for playing for their own country that nurtured them is too much...in fact, they are overpaid, considering that we are an african country, struggling to make ends meet...$15,000 times 25 players is $375,000...if u add the technical staff who are not going to be left out, the whole bonus money runs into half a million dollars...this money can buy hundreds of thousands of school tables/chairs for pupils/students who sit under trees when they go to school...most of these players are paid not less than $50,000 a week in their professional careers..now lets compare..in malawi, the bonus money for national team players, can u believe it?, is $75...and despite ghana's so called pro players playing in top leagues in europe, malawi is capable of beating ghana for $75 with their mostly home based players...u want to know aboput malawi?...at the cup of nations in south africa, they beat algeria 3-0 in their group match and were given $75 for that win

German football stars get fat bonuses after qualifying for World Cup
Germany's stars will each receive up to 200 000 euros for helping Joachim Loew's squad reach next year's World Cup, with the German Football Federation (DFB) paying out four million euros.
Germany qualified for Brazil 2014 as Group C winners having won nine of their 10 matches and eight of the squad qualify for the maximum amount of 20 000 euros per game.
Curiously, reserve goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler of Hanover 96 collects the maximum sum despite not playing a single minute of the qualifying campaign having been on the bench for every game.
